To cut cable or not to cut cable?

I just got off the phone with our cable service because our bill went up again. We have a bundle with phone, tv, and internet. When I tried to cut our cable portion we lost our bundle pricing so our bill was even higher. I am so sick of paying for this, makes me crazy. We all have cells so really no need for house phone but I am applying for a new job and the number is all over the resume. Can't cut that service right now. Wondering what everyone pays for internet. My bill was going to be $165 per month, I dropped channels and now the bill is $128 per month, cancelling cable left my bill at $125 per month. Need internet so that is not an option.

I dropped the phone when we moved. I have directv for $85 a month and bundle with Internet for $45 a month. So about $130 for both.

Right now we pay 160 a month for both tv and internet. To me that is too much. I called yesterday to downgrade my tv service from the preferred to the basic. Who really watches 200 channels on the preferred service. They told me that I am on a promotion until July. If I was to downgrade my services it would be 30 more dollars a month than what I am paying now because of the promotion. That is insane

Cut cable 4 years ago and don't miss it - our bill was $200/month. Now it is $80. We subscribe to Netflix, Huluplus and I have Amazon Prime which offers free streaming through our Roku. I've also found the website, couchtuner, which has shows you can stream from various cable channels including HBO, Showtime, TNT, etc. and its free. We have that streaming from our Ipad through our AppleTV.

With all those choices, no need for cable

Just a warning...if you have a PC, do not try using Couchtuner. (It might behave differently on a Mac product, since the poster above said she used it on an iPad and Apple TV.) I put it on a Windows 8 laptop, and I've been trying to remove it for over an hour, and still haven't gotten it all. It installed several different programs on my computer, changed my start page, search engine, and I'm getting popups and advertisements. It didn't work anyway. I kept getting messages that I needed to download more programs.
