To Croc or Not to Croc??

I got the worst blister in my entire life wearing my Croc flip flops last summer. Never again!!

i've never been a croc fan (i think they're hideous!) but my fam kept trying to convert me. i finally wore a pair for like, 15 minutes and still wasn't impressed! my rainbows are definately the most comfortable shoes i've ever owned! i wear them all the time at disney with no problems at all! since US/IOA almost requires athletic shoes, i look forward to being able to go back to rainbows for the disney parks!

as others have suggested, i think you should test them at home first just to make sure you won't be stuck with uncomfortable shoes for 8 hours in a theme park. you wouldn't go hiking in brand new boots without breaking them in first....and your feet take just as much in those parks!

I'm thinking about getting a pair of the Mickey-head Crocs. I wouldn't have considered them otherwise. I've always been keen to wearing Keen. Last year, my wife, DD3, and myself all wore Keen Newports to the parks. DD3 was quite entranced with the fact we all matched.

Ok, I posted a post on the budget board tonight regarding this-

I bought my first pair hesitantly and the arrived today.

I LOVE THEM

Lets just say I havent taken them off (4 hours) and I've only been in my apartment. I'm disappointed that I cant sleep in them and I'm even more disappointed that it's still cold and snowy (yes SNOW!)

So while I'm not a total convert yet, I do have to admit, I'm totally glad so far that I got them (and I have big huge gigantic feet but the caymen ones aren't so duck like!)

:cheer2: :woohoo: :cool1: pixiedust: :dancer: party: :jumping1: :jumping2:  :tinker:

i just had to pop by and say hi!!! and the knockoffs can be okay... at least, the airwalks at payless are pretty comfy! and cheap. if you do a search on the threads, btw, you can find pics of guys wearing theirs, so they aren't just for gals!! just don't wear the hot pink ones, bro. you can get them in black, navy, or brown!

GAHHHH, i'm SO excited for you!!!! we need another one of this dude...

:dancer:

I am a huge croc fan and I just wanted to add that it just not about the feet. My shins and legs were actually much less tired and sore when I wear my crocs. I use to come back to the hotel and have to put my legs up after 13 hours at the parks but I didn't have to do that at all this trip. The only trouble with crocs is no other shoes feel comfy now!!!!

I just bought Mickey Crocs for myself and girls for our August trip. I also would not have gotten them except for the Mickeys! My DD12 has a knock off pair from WalMart which she loves, but these are the first for myself. I didn't like Birks before I started wearing them either.....

I have 4 pairs, 2 pairs of the Athens, 1 pair of beach and 1 of the endeavor. I would stay away from the endeavors, they have a closed toe and make my feet sweat. I just the Athens, wear them all the time. I have always had problems with a flip flop type sandal, but these are great:woohoo:

I have, also, been debating on whether or not to buy crocs for our upcoming July trip. Are the ones with the holes better than the ones without the holes?
I have been stuck with wearing sneakers every time we go to Disney. I am afraid to wear open-toed shoes again (a couple years ago I stubbed my toe and.. well, it wasn't pretty, I'll tell you that much, lol) and the only comfortable closed-toed sandles around here to buy are leather, and leather shoes with hot/humid Florida-in-the-summer air do NOT mix well.

I think that the crocs without the holes are "easier on the eyes", but are they not as comfortable, and do they vent as well? :confused3

So far, I have found the previous comments on this thread very helpful, and now I am leaning more on buying them. I have been reading every crocs thread that I see, LOL, but none of them seem to answer this particular question. Thanks :thumbsup2

I was just checking out the Crocs website again. Looks like they've added a lot of new styles recently. I still think they need to offer some more styles for men though.
I really wish they made the Disney crocs in my size (12-13). And I really wish they offered something like a Teva style sandal. They have 2 styles of flip-flops (Athens and Crete) and 2 styles of slides(Scutes and Sobek), but I'm not a fan of either type of sandal. Seems to me that if they offered something like a Teva, there would be a lot of men who would give them a try. I know I would.

I love my crocs!
Yes, they kind of look like cartoon shoes. :goofy:
But I have had foot problems all my life, and now I can be on my feet all day with no pain. :woohoo:
Please, try a pair, and do make sure they are the "real" crocs. Not the discount dept. store brands. There is a huge difference.

OH, and don't forget you can dress up your crocs with Disney Jibbitz! :cool1:

I hated crocs too.... until I tried a pair on! Go to your local shoe store and just try them. It's like standing on that anti-fatigue foam all the time! Great little invention.

That being said, I got mine for Christmas so I haven't braved a summer with them yet and have a question..

Do the black Crocs get really hot in the sun? I know black isn't the greatest summer colour, the last thing I want is these things burning my feet! I have the black mickey ones, but wanted a second pair and if black is out of the question I'll have to look for something else acceptable.

My DH has the black, and he has never mentioned them ever being hot. They have so many holes and breathe so well maybe they arn't. But I do have to mention he has never worn them without socks, not sure if that means anything. :confused3

where do you find the jibbitz? I found the disney crocs on their website, am going to try a pair.

If you got the Mickey Crocs, the Jibbitz don't fit - the icon shaped holes are too big. But you can find them pretty much anywhere the crocs are.

We bought our crocs on sportsauthority.com - we got free shipping and then used the Google checkout for $10 off. I was pleased with the deal because I normally don't spend that much for shoes for my kids. However - my oldest and I are in the same size now so eventually I'll have 2 pair just for me. She's destined to have larger feet.

yes, yes, crocks are almost a necessity for wdw. i am not sure about the sandle type that are between the toes, those might not be as comfy. i wear regular athletic shoes on the first day and after that my feet do not want anything but crocks. i prefer mine with socks but my daughter and grandchildren don't. doesn't matter how you wear them, they will save your day and even your week at wdw. i like the crocks brand maryjanes best, they seem to fit my foot better.:cool1:

Let me start by saying that I am a recent and avid convert of the DIS! My sister found the DIS when she was planning her Disneymoon, and now guess what...it's my turn!:woohoo:My DF and I are getting married June 1st and are heading for WDW the next day. Anyway, my sister told me about this site and I am so glad that she did. I finally HAD to join. This being my first post EVER, I need some help.

I have heard a lot about Crocs. However, I wonder--are they really necessary? They look a lot like sandals or flipflops, neither of which I ever wanted to wear. Is it really worth it? Are they that comfortable? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks DIS!:goodvibes ;)

The crocs I have look like rubber clogs. They are comfortable, but like all shoes, test them before you wear them. I wore mine all three days of my last Disney trip.

I'm kind of debating this Croc issue myself. Personally, I think they're ugly (I don't mean to offend anyone who likes them!!:) , and they honestly don't look all that comfy. But I have heard others I work with talk about how comfy they are. I think that if I decide to get a pair I'll get them early enough so that I can try them out before going.

They are the next best thing to being barefoot, IMHO.

I also have a question about Crocs. I tried them on several times and don't know if I should get my usual size or a size smaller. It seems there is too much room in my regular size but the size smaller my toes are nearer to the end of the shoe.
Any suggestions?

I am no Croc expert (I have personally never worn them), but I was just looking on the Croc website, and it says that the Crocs should be a little bigger than your normal size, so that you have plenty of room for your foot, and so that there aren't any "pressure points."

I don't know if it is more comfortable or not, to get a smaller size, but that is what the site said. But I, too, would like to hear some first-account opinions on this particular factor, so when I buy mine, I know if I need to get a larger or smaller size.
