to CM consultants

I am so sorry for the trouble you had with CM. I agree it is nice to know what new items are available. This board is where I found out about the 8x8 Mickey album. I called my consultant and ordered it from her-$$$ for CM. I don't regularly visit the CM site because I enjoy reading about new products here. If others like something I am interested in, them I will buy it. CM products are expensive and I don't want to buy something I may not use. I understand their rule about selling on ebay or recruiting customers on message boards, but you should be able to discuss the products you sell, and if someone is interested in buying something. you can direct them to the CM site to find a consultant in their area.

Too funny if you ask me...
Let see I post under Spinning! Now who am I? (granted some of you know all about me but others don't) What do they do put spy ware on the consultants PC so they know all their little names? and the sites they visit? Please!

Just another reason why I am not a huge fan of CM. I love many of their products and have spent a nice chunk of change over ther years for the items I just love but this is a little much.
If this is true then they are a wee bit stupid if you ask me! I ordered the CM mickey album site unseen due to the response on this board. Same with the DIsney stickers.

I now want to look at that new power sorting thing again because of the stuff I have read on this board!
I think this is a bunch of hooey!

I, too, was interested in getting more info on the power sorter after reading the raves about it here. But this is still the GOOD OL' USA, even if Creative Memories seems to have time warped to Nazi Germany, so I will take my wallet and RUN the other way!

hmmmm... Well I know that creative memories will get no business from me again. I would love to discuss their policy with this lisa person so to the person(s) who created this havoc in the first place....
A) I hope you are happy about causing ******* over scrapbooking, cm is not the be all and end all of scrapbooking and if your behaviour is any indication of how the rest of the company works, I want no part of it. Turning people in over saying how good the product is is insane and clearly you need to get a life

B) feel free to continue this conversation off line if you would like, my email is available.

C) I will not be buying cm products again and you can be sure that this will be being discussed in far greater circles and only makes the company look bad.

scrapping on the "dark side" and happy to be able to express my CREATIVITY.

I dont buy from CM but if this is true (and I dont mean to say its not) then they definetly dont have my money (and I *was* being tempted to get that mickey book...)

and a good LOL to
>>scrapping on the "dark side" and happy to be able to express my CREATIVITY.<<

too true :) -em

I so agree with the rest of you. I liked knowing what was coming out.

I can see a lot of money being lost because of how this company chooses to sell themselves.

Well BECAUSE of this board I have spend more than $500 on CM products. I had NEVER even heard of CM until I read about the Disney album here. After that I sought out a local CMC and started shopping.

I've been averaging more than $100 in CM purchases in addition to my LSS purchases.

I HOPE Sara Lehn or whoever from CM is reading this because I'd like to say what utter bs this is. The CMCs here are PROMOTING your products they are bringing new people to CM and your repramand them for it??? Nice, real nice.

I can't tell you the amount of times I read about a new product here and contacted my CMC about it - sometimes before she even knew about it!!!!!

I am seriously going to consider wether or not I am going to continue purchasing CM products.

For shame to the CM tattle tale, didn't you learn to not tattle on people in, what, second grade???

I've heard some weird things about CM in the past, but this is the weirdest!!! If it's true, I can't see ever buying anything from CM again. Truly, the only things I buy are things I hear about on the internet -- my consultant never calls me or sends me newsletters (she used to). So much for a "personal relationship"!

I'm glad to see that so many of you are in agreement. I always had a problem with CM. My first CM party, the consultant and her upline were there. The consultant was a friend and it was her 1st party. Her upline actually told me that I had to not allow anyone at my party access to my scrapbooking room during the time they were there because it was filled with non-CM supplies. I told her to go you know where...and ordered her to leave my house. From then on she was known as the CM nazi. Can you believe that? I did let my friend go on with her presentation, but over 1/2 of my customers did not receive their orders until 2 months later. One person received the 12 inch tool... instead of a new one the consultant (whom I'm no longer friends with) gave her a used one with no box! It ended up breaking and CM refused to replace it because it had no box. We explained what happened and they did finally replace it after much hassle. It seems my consultant was using all the $$ fromthe show to pay her own overdue bills and not putting orders in on time.
Anyway, I'm ranting. I know that most of the CM consultants on this board are not "NAZIS". They seem very open to using non-CM products as well. I'm sorry your company is so strict. I wouldn't work for them. Nor will I purchase anything else from them!

I haven't posted to this board in a long time. I'm usually a lurker, but I can't stand by and watch the CM bashing. Just to clarify, here is what the P&P Manual states word for word:

"INTERNET
Creative Memories permits Consultants to advertise their businessees on the Internet only through the approved Creative Memories Consultant web pages. See cmc-network.com for ordering information.

Creative Memories Consultants may not use other Internet means to advertise, promote (this includes blanket solicitation via e-mail or through list services), sell or recruit for their Creative Memories businesses through electronic computer networks or services, including the Internet."

I understand that it's vague enough to be open for interpretation, but I don't believe anything in that policy can be misconstrued as saying no consultant can post to internet bulleting boards discussing CM and/or scrapbooking.

I frequent several SB boards (including one dominated by consultants) and I can honestly say there are thousands of consultants discussing CM on these boards. The only time they get in trouble is when they try to solicit or violate trademark issues. My suggestion is to eliminate any reference to CM in your signature. PM your Dis friends if you feel necessary. There's no reason why CMCs cannot continue to share ideas and their knowledge as long as they're doing it to share scrapbooking and not to gain business.

As far as posting new products, Consultants on other boards do it all the time. I don't know why it would be a problem as long as it's posted as an fyi as opposed to soliciting. If you want to be safe, just PM your Dizsfriends and then our Dis friends can share on the board so that everyone can get excited.

Please, ladies! Let's not get our underwear in a bundle. CM products are great (my current favorite is the Titletopias!). Their policies may be strict compared to other companies, but they are in place for a reason. When a consultant signs her contract she agrees to these policies.

I think it's stinky that someone felt the need to tattle (sorry this happened to you MikDor), but let's just move forward. Don't boycott CM because of this. CM has great products to offer. As far as having problems with a CMC ("nazi" or otherwise), find a new CMC. Not all CMCs are like that!!

Ok - stepping off the soapbox....flame suit on.
Hoping everyone has a fabulous weekend!
Lisa

Thank you Lisa....you confirmed what I thought. I have a feeling what the problem was, was what I originally posted about. I *think* (I'm don't know for sure) that the original OP had a link to her CM website to buy products from her. That is what sent a red flag up in my head, although I did not *tattle* on her, but I remember thinking to myself, "I don't think you're supposed to do that." I honestly don't think CM has a problem with CMCs coming on here and saying, "Ladies, next month CM is coming out with the most fabulous new product, let me tell you about it and then ask your CMC about it the next time you see her."

And trust me, while CM honestly wishes you would buy *only* their stuff, they are perfectly aware their customers buy other things. I went to the national convention in February and they said something of the sort. They said to "encourage" your customers to only use CM, but no one said put them in a headlock and make them hide all their non-CM stuff at a home show. ;) I always told my customers, "Just make sure it's acid and lignin free" and left it at that.

While I left CM on my own volition and had some *thoughts* about the company, I really don't think they mind us sharing new products and ideas on these boards. Really! So let's not all totally wash our hands of CM because of this....

Thank you for clarifying Lisa. Now back to our regular fun scraping.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't notice a sig link at any time from the OP but I also wasn't paying attention to that. If that was the problem then I feel better about the entire situation.

I was under the impression that the new product posts and the like were the issue. I find those VERY valuable so if that was the problem I was going to be very upset.

I can see not spamming the boards for business but I also don't see a huge issue with an "I sell CM link" but if it's against their policy I think the CMC shouldn't have a link.

WOW! Glad there was some clarification on this by the time I was done reading whats been posted so far.
I enjoy the CM info that I read here. When my consultant sends out the links to the "new stuff" it's often several days before those links are working with their website. So when the news is posted on here I get excited and start "budgeting" my next purchase so I can submit my order ASAP. Win - Win situation for everyone, I get what I want and CM makes the money. I've never been "solicited" by a CM consultant here or ever even noticed any links to their sites.
Hope someone from CM will read about this issue and take care of the problem ( completely clarify) before too many of us get mad enough to look for other products..........

I don't know if the OP had a link in her signature, but she did send me a PM telling me the benefits of hosting a party in my home. I sent her a reply to let her know I have a CMC already. That was it, she did not try to influence me in any way. Maybe she did this to someone else and they were offended, but I thought it was a considerate thing to do. After all, isn't it part of her job to recruit hostesses for home parties? Whoever tattled on her should be ashamed of themselves. In my opinion, she did nothing wrong.
