To cloth or not to cloth

First off, I love that this is a thread. Second, I am sure it could be done, for sure! I'm not quite brave enough (I have all pockets), so it is just easier for us to use disposables on trips I bet it would be smart to bring cloth though especially if sweat and sitting a while could cause issues. Also these laundry routines are awesome, any Fluff Love & CD Science facebook peeps here??

Yes! They helped get my wash routine down when I first started! Love their advice and knowledge!

Our stash is mostly Best Bottoms, Bumgenius freetimes and Flips with prefolds so it sounds like we should be good!

I didn't think about residue in the washers. That's a good point to consider. I usually do a cold wash with a small amount of detergent and a hot wash with a full cap of detergent so I would have to do two runs anyway. But I didn't think about how time consuming that would be and it will probably be too cold for pool time. That would make for some bored kiddos!

We are only going for 4 days so realistically I could wash the day we get home and we would be perfectly fine. I usually wash every 3 days anyway but have enough diapers that I can go 4 or 5. Thanks for everyone's input!!!

How are you going to bring home 5 days of dirty diapers? I know you can rinse them out, but wouldn't they start to get moldy after a few days? Are you flying or driving?

We did cloth but not on vacation. I wanted my own laundry set up for washing my fluff.

I didn't even consider for a minute using our CD for our upcoming trip, ha ha. I feel like we would need a bag just for diapers. I can't stand washing clothes down there, I can't imagine trying to do diapers. Kudos to those who have done it!

We use cloth but on trips where we won't have easy access to a machine that doesn't have residue ( our diapers accidently got washed without our knowledge while daughter was with her grandparents at her aunts house).. and it was a pain to strip ALL her diapers. So on trips we use our BB covers with Flip disposable inserts. Regular disposable diapers irritate my daughter but these don't. We have plenty of covers to last our disney trip!

We cloth diaper at home but used disposables on our trip. We use cloth to save money -- so using disposables was actually a nice break for us and we found it tough to come back home and go back to cloth! I feel terrible saying that, but there it is.

When my twins were 15 months we switched to disposables for our WDW trip. It was a vacation for me too, that way :) Plus I wasnt sure about getting a good wash, i was used to my complicated wash routine at home. It was nice using disposables for the week, and it was nice not having to haul two babies worth of fluff to pack!

Yes, me! I had a terrible wash routine before I found them. I went with what the label said which was a cold wash with a sensitive detergent. Thankfully I found the NZ version of Fluff Love and CD Science facebook pages within the first month and got my routine fixed. :D

As to whether to CD on holiday, I probably wouldn't even if you can take them home to wash just because that is a lot to carry around and with the humidity in Florida I'd be worried about mold.

If you do disposables, I HIGHLY recommend a cloth cover (like you would use with pre folds) over the disposable diaper. This will prevent blow outs and leaks.

We've done CD on our last two trips, each 7 days long. I had to wash once. We have a good wetbag so there was no odor. It really wasn't bad for us. I'd pack a few diapers in our backpack for the day and a smaller wetbag. (We use pockets stuffed with prefolds.) Then transfer to the larger one when we got to our room. I just brought a ziplock bag of laundry detergent and did laundry once on the trip. I really don't feel like it made it any less of a vacation for me to have to do one load of laundry at some point during the week.

I really hate disposables. I hate the leaks and blowouts (although now that my son is older that probably wouldn't happen). I don't use disposables at home ever so I didn't know how they would affect my son's skin.

We use disposables when traveling (AIOs here). Did cloth the first time we traveled for a week, but I hated taking roughly a full day out of my trip for laundry (two cycles wash, 1 1/2 cycles dry, 3 times in a week). DD requires sensitive disposables when she wears more than 1 in a row (DS was fine with regular).

We always used disposable when we traveled (7th generation). First, as stated above, it would have taken forever to wash them at the hotel and I wasn't interested in losing that much vacation time. (Unless you have a room with laundry facilities, as with some DVC) Second, it's one thing to wash diapers in my own washer and dryer - another thing entirely to use a public washer and dryer. I wouldn't want to deal with whatever others have put in there and frankly I think a lot of people would be turned off by folks washing diapers in shared washer/dryers.
