To borrow or not

We want to stay an extra night on our Nov 2009 trip. It would cost us another 42 points though and we've already borrowed 37 of our 2010 points (we have 160 total) and DH doesn't want to borrow more points from 2010.

He suggested checking out of DVC and paying oop for a room at one of the other resorts for that one night. We've never split a stay before and I'm worried it will be too much packing and unpacking, especially with a 21 month old baby. Plus, what if we want to to our room that next afternoon to rest? Our new room might not be ready, right? What do you think? Should we borrow points from 2010 and stay in the same room or pay oop for a room at another resort for that one night?

Why not call MS and see if there is a member's cash discount for the night you need in the same resort?

If so, you can stay in the same room. Member's cash discount is 25% off rack rate. Will probably be a few more $$ than moving & staying at a value or mod, but might be worth it. I would not like to move for one night with a toddler, either.

I would borrow the points. It seems no matter how many more points we have purchased, we are always borrowing from the year ahead. Makes sense dollar wise to use them as we need them.

If you have them use them. I would not want to move with a baby either. They need alot of stuff plus a refrigerator.

One year you will not be able to go or you can save the money you would spend on cash nights and do a small add on later.

Thanks for your input everyone! I see no good reason not to borrow either - just trying to convince DH at this point. There have been years when we didn't go to WDW or paid oop to stay at non-DVC resorts and ended up renting out points to friends or people here on the DIS so I'm not afraid to borrow from the year ahead. We'll always have plenty of points...

I borrow alot. 2010 points...gone but for a couple. I'll worry about how to take vacation later.
