To BLT owners or almost......

I believe the double DP were only offered on the Disney Cruise line during sailings.

We purchased BLT last week and got $5 per point (gift card used as part of down payment), matching DP to be used by Oct. 3rd 2009, and a February use year.

We purchased at BLT about four weeks ago - 225 points with a Feb. use year. The only incentives we received were the $5/point discount and two $15 disney gift cards. Did you have to ask for the developer points or were they offered to you? Is this something that I can request from my guide or is it just "too bad, so sad" for us? I am a little confused since we recently purchased and this type of incentive was never mentioned.

Normally, if you have already signed your paperwork and are past the recission period, then it is just like you say--too bad, so sad. However, this time DVC is giving the DPs even after closing has occurred. The only catch is you have to ask. Some guides have answered in the affirmative almost immediately , whereas others have to get approval which can take several days.....

Thanks for all of the info. I called my Guide today and asked about the developer points. She said that she would talk to her Manager about it and get back with me. I am cautiously optimistic based on what responses others have had.

I am confused because according to these posts if you add on you don't pay closing costs but I was recently told differently. Also, to clarify, if I buy 50 points as an add on and don't go until Nov. of 09' would I have double points by then if my use year was before then. So if we traveled in Nov. 09' would I have 100 points by then if my use year was say in Feb??

I don't know about the closing costs, but I can help with the Nov 09 thing. You'll have your 09 points only for a Nov 09 trip - no way you would get 2010 points before then. You could borrow from your 2010 points then if you wanted to have 100 points for a trip.

If you are adding on with Disney, you don't pay closing costs. If you are a first time buyer purchasing through Disney, there are closing costs.

The first use year available for BLT is Feb 09. If you have a Feb 09 UY, you will receive your first set of points in Feb 09 (but, they can't be used until your unit is declared into inventory/the resort opens). You would then get your second set of points in Feb '10. The DPs that folks are getting (I think it is for 100 points or more) would expire in Oct 09 and you couldn't use them at BLT-they are limited as to where you can use them.
