Hi all,

This is a first time post! My family and I are scheduled to go to Ft. Wilderness for 10 days next June/July. Since we do not have a camper nor a vehicle large enough to pull a rental, we were looking into renting a camper from a local co. in Kissimmee and having it delivered to / picked up from Ft. Wilderness. (Yes, we actually found such a company!) For a 25' tow-behind with a slide-out, the cost is working out to be about $70/night less than a cabin rental.

Has anyone ever done this, and if so, are there any words of advice you could give me? Candid opinions are always accepted!

I have never done it, I just would make sure that the camper has all necessities on board, linen, towels, pots and pans, etc, otherwise you might be better of staying in a value resort.

We are actually renting a class C RV for our trip to Fort Wilderness. I am so excited that I can hardly wait. We have never done anything like this before but I am on a quest to stay at all the WDW resorts. For the week, we got the 1-800-4rentrv was $500 with our Costco discount + 20 cents per mile (with the Costco discount) + tax. It came to about $800 which is a little expensive but what a neat time we will have!

Callahanjulie,

You'll have a ball. FW is great and being in a camper will make it that much nicer. This is the first time I will be staying in a camper there. All the other times we've roughed it in a tent!! I'm so glad I won't have to put on shoes, grab a flashlight, remember my room key and hike to the comfort stations during the night!! It's the small things...

You got a great rate! Don't forget to account for gas as well. We rented a Class A a few years ago when we thought gas was expensive (wrong!)...many of the gas stations will preset the gas pumps with a limit - sometimes $50 or $100. The pumps would automatically kick off when that limit was reached. We would then have to re-insert our card and do it again in order to fill up!

Have a great trip!

What is the name of the company that will deliver the RV? We are considering a trip next year with our 5th wheel but my parents and my brothers family may be going as well. Since we don't have enough room for everybody this would be a great way for them to join us as well.

You will have the best time at Ft. Wilderness. There are perks like the petting farm, campfire program with movies & Chip & Dale, etc....all for free! A welcome rarity in WDW!

Bring some "yard art" on your trip and no one will even know youre a rookie! The tackier, the better I say! :teeth: :teeth:

Gas is going to kill me! I can't believe we picked this time to rent an RV and drive down- I should have done it last year.
