To be cheap, or not to be cheap?

On deck 2, unlike the other decks, there are 2 small portholes in the oceanview rooms. They have water-tight covers to be used when necessary.

The deck 2 windows are more vulnerable to water damage than the other decks.
I didn't know this either. I've never stayed on deck two and that was actually what I planned on doing on this cruise as something new. I waited too long though and by the time DCL actually cancelled this year, I couldn't get adjoining rooms on deck two.

Are you sure those are Deck 2? I'm thinking it's Deck 1. I know I have had a nice size porthole in cabin 2550 on the Magic.

I don’t recommend that. We had an ocean view on our WBTA and the seas were so rough that midway through they closed our porthole. Although it was the right thing to do I was so annoyed that I essentially overpaid for what became an inside room.

Was that Deck 1 or Deck 2? How long did they stay shut and how bad were the seas? If Deck 2 how did they do that? That would be annoying.

We like Deck 2, and only once during a pretty bad storm did we have a lot of water against the window. They actually closed Deck 4s running track because waves were washing up at that height. We had an oversized porthole and I was sitting in it when one wave hit and we were pretty under the water and the stateroom lights were shining through it. Both the coolest and creepiest moment at sea (the captain even came into the staterooms with an announcement that things would be bumpy but everything was completely fine- also the only time I’ve heard that announcement).

On deck 2? Pretty sure the can’t close? All our previous TA seas have been calm and we have loved our location.

Only Deck 1 has the two smaller portholes with covers......Deck 2 cabins have one large porthole that can't be closed.
