Debating against myself this whole week. I need a somewhat affordable Fri / Sat night stay in mid-July (not July 4th). The rest of our vacation will be in DVC. So, we have 5 adults, we don't want to kill each other fighting for bathroom. So far I can only see myself booking two All Star rooms.

Does anyone think I should be looking at other non-Disney hotels that are on Disney ground? (I don't want to stay off-site). Do you think any of the DD hotel can beat AS? I just cannot convince myself so far.

I am staying in the All Star Sports from June 25th - July 2nd and when I get back I will be sure to tell you everything good and bad about my stay there!

Stay at the All Stars...you're a type A, you'll hardly be at the resort. :) I've done ASSp twice, and it's great for what it is - a motel. If you plan to use the buses, they're excellent. I normally stay at the moderates but have to admit that the All Star bus service is better. The food courts are great too. There's just nothing to do other than swim in a very crowded pool.

As long as you can handle oodles of small kids and don't plan on doing much relaxing at the resort, the All Stars are great.

We stayed at a DD hotel on the night before a morning flight home (couldn't see spending AKL Concierge Bucks and getting up too early to even eat breakfast in the lounge...) I would do that again in a similar situation.

Other than that, I would pick the AS. I enjoy the Disney experience too much, and the offsites seem like too much of a letdown.

In during our Oct DVC stay we are hoping to spend our non-DVC Fri/Sat at a Universal resort. Maybe that's an idea for your group?

We just joined DVC and plan on staying at AS next year on the weekend before checking into BCV.

I think for convenience and the 2 bathrooms, you will love the AS. We stayed there in Jan and it wasn't crowded, but I'm sure that summer is a very different story. I've heard that the music isn't as over with kids, but I'm not sure about summer. We did have connecting rooms with 4 adults and 1 child and it was a lot of space. I also got down to the food court very early and brought breakfast back to the room for everyone. It depends on what you want to do. If you can get a similar room rate at DD, you may want to do that. I've stayed in the Hilton, BW, and Courtyard and all are very nice with spacious rooms with plenty of amenities and sit-down restaurants. If you want to relax byt the pool, shop, etc this may be better for five adults.

Thanks everyone. Looks like AS is the way to go. I just cannot see how any DD hotels or Universal hotels can beat the price of AS for summer's weekends. Or are there?
