We are planning a seven day stay at WDW in June 2008 with some possible long weekend ventures after that. My question is "Is the AP discount worth purchasing the annual passes for a family of four?" Just wondering how big the discount is on the rooms during certain times of the year. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

What I have learned during my research and time on these boards is that AP Room Discounts are not guaranteed. Therefore, if you are aiming for room discounts and that is the main reason you are getting an AP, maybe you just want to buy one, in case it doesn't work out for you.

A good reason to get an AP for everyone in your travelling party is if you plan on spending 10 days or more at Disney World within a year of the date of activation. We do, so we are buying the AP in August so we can return in October, March and next summer. We will only have to pay for our room and meals on those trips because our tickets will be paid for as part of the AP.

Hope that helps!

When planning our May trip AP rates came out and I booked using the AP rate fully intending to get one for myself strictly because of the significant discount.
BUT - A few days later, another rate came out that was only $10.00 per night more than the AP rate and I didn't have to shell out the $400+ for the AP, so net out of my pocket was cheaper to NOT get the AP.
If you think you'll get enough use out of it for park admission, then go for it. Otherwise it's a lot of money to spend when the room discounts aren't guaranteed.

I was just juggling with this same question. I bought the AP last Tues. & then when I had more time to calculate the numbers, I called & cancelled them. We will be going in Sept for 5 days & in May for 7 days. That being said the AP was $927 with no water parks. A 10 no expiration with hopping & 6 visits to the water parks came to $956. One water park visit without tax is $39 per person. I figured that in Sept. we are doing the MNSSHP which I don't need a days ticket for. During the day, we will go to the water park, or hang at our resort. Same thing in May. So that will use up 10 days. I originaly got the AP discount for the Poly for Sept, but when I cancelled the AP, I got a general public code for only $5 more a night than the AP code. So for us, we are getting more for our money with the 10 day no expiring. I guess if I knew we would visit the World more often then an AP would make sense. We can usually only do once a year-this Sept trip was a very nice surprize! You really need to sit down & try to figure how many days you will use, & use Disney's web site under ticket prices because it will show you everything with the tax too. Good luck & try not to let your brain hurt too much like mine did!!!!

Because we had our AP's we went to WDW 4 times in 12 months.:yay: We stayed for longer periods and have had some great discounts on rooms. We own a DVC but discounted room rates are good when we want to squeeze another trip in.

Only you will know what is best for your family. Good luck, April
