To anyone just back...were they typical May crowds?

I am just back myself and just wondered...were these typical May crowds? I haven't been to Disney in years and chose May for light crowds. Then the UG said they would be an 8 out of 10 due to Celebration, etc. I was very concerned.

Happily, we thought wait times were VERY LOW, however, the walkways seemed very busy to me at all the parks. I had trouble navigating the people at times. We had a great time, but I honestly don't know what I experienced as far as crowds go. I am curious as to what others think.

I've never been in May before, but we just back Friday and I think the crowds were maybe a bit more than normal for early May, but VERY do-able! Our longest wait was 20-25 minutes and that was for Kali at AK and the Princess room at Toontown. Other than that I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for anything and walked on with no wait for several rides.

I was thrilled, I was SO worried with the UG crowd prediction, but I think the crowds were more of a 4 and no where near an 8. Maybe we just had good timing, but we didn't even wait for Soarin' or even BTMR or Dumbo. One lady said they waited almost an hour for Soarin', but she went in the morning and we went at lunchtime. It was a little hard to navigate the walkways sometimes, but not terrible.....can you IMAGINE what it would be like in the summer?! (shudder) Everytime we went on a ride and walked right through the waiting areas I thought to myself "There is no way I'd come when you'd have to wait in a line this long."

I'm planning my next trip for the first week in May of 2006!

Just got back from being there the 8th - 13th. I would say it was a little more crowded than a typical May, but not by much. Everyone was trying to get to Soarin at Epcot (which by the way is fabulous! ) so I have never seen the Land so crowded!!! Everything else was very managable.

We were shocked at how light the crowds were. I don't know what typical May is, but we did everything "important" to us by 10:30 each morning (and that's with arriving a few minutes after park opening and not an half hour before). The longest line we waited in was about 20 minutes. Many rides we just walked up and rode, even later in the day.

Just back yesterday and we also got on rides with little or no wait. Mother's Day in Epcot was our first day in the parks and I was worried as the crowds were large but even then, there was not much waiting time!

Just back Friday- longest wait for anything was about 20 minutes. We rode Pirates and Haunted Mansion with no wait at all! The biggest crowds were in the restaurants- so if you want to eat somewhere other than counter service, I would make a ps.

Hey.. Im leaving in 4 days for Star Wars Weekend and Opening of SW.. I hope the crowds stay LOW!! I was there a couple of weeks ago during Grad Night and LOW was definitely not it. So looking forward to quick hops on the rides and easy navigation through the parks.

said the crowd was very small. Longest wait was maybe 15 min. Said stitch was crowded, but they skipped it to do later in the week.

I expected it to be crowded, and it was. Longest wait was for Soarin' at 40 minutes. Fast Passes were gone by the time I got there. HM was a walk on and there was a 15 min wait for Splash Mountain. IASW was a 10 min wait as was SWSA! Going back in July and will be expecting BIGGER crowds.

We've never been in May either and were just thrilled with the light crowd level. We never waited more than 15 minutes, anything longer than that we fast passed(even that we only used 3 times maybe) Buses were a little more crowed than I may have liked but that is really my only complaint. WOuld go in My again in a heartbeat!!!

Just got back today, and I have to agree about the crowds. The walkways were packed and hard to navigate, but the ride wait times were minimal. We even walked right on BTMRR last Saturday night, even though it said it was a 20 minute wait. The longest wait time we saw all week was 80 minutes for Soarin'.

Good to hear. Our friends are there now. Disney promoted this 50th celebration and "warned" about crowds, so they were really worried. Our friends said no problem, crowds are minimal.

I was there May 7 to 13, we've gone the past 5 years around the same time. We didn't spend as much time in the parks as before but it seemed typical to me. On Tuesday night we went to MK to see Spectro, I expected the wait times to be long. Space Mountain was only about 5 minutes around 7:00. I rode Soarin' on Wednesday afternoon, the standby was 35 min, I used single rider with no wait. ToT and RnR were short waits on Friday around noon, walked into the 1:00 Lights, Motor show about 5 min before.

Just back too May 10-14th. i was expecting crowds because the Port Orleans resorts were both at 98% capacity. But we walked on or waited 5 min for most rides, never did we wait for more than 20. Fantasmic still had seats avail 20 minutes prior to show time. There did seem to be tons of people, esp leaving MK at closing, but the ride lines were great.

I thought that the lack of crowds anywhere was.....magical.
Universal was empty on Mothers Day. Epcot was emtpy on Tuesday and AK, MGM and MK were empty on Wednesday (tho I'm sure the rain in late afternoon/evening emptied out EMH at MK that day.

All I know for sure is: I"LL BE BACK! (same time same station next year)

MK was packed all the time during our trip, May 8th - 13th. AK and MGM was not as bad but it was busier than normal. EPCOT was more manageable but you'd expect that @ EPCOT. I guess the 50th year celebration has something to do with it.
