Just wanted to get some opinions from some people who have done the Tulum excursion with Disney already. Overall, what was your opinion of it? Is it worth the time & money? Did you enjoy yourself? Pros/cons? Would you recommend it to a friend? If you had the chance to do it again, would you, or would you have done a different excursion?

We did the Tulum excursion on the 5/11 sailing.

We loved the excursion - the views were AMAZING and the history was very interesting.

However, with that said, it was extremely HOT! It was probably around 95 the whole time we were there and there was very little shade. There was bottled water that could be purchased just outside of the park, so I would suggest picking some up. Also, I don't think very small children would appreciate the history or the views, so it might not be the best excursion for the very young.

If this was our first trip, would we do it again? Definately YES.
Would we go back? Probably not - it's a one-time kinda thing.

If you would like to see our trip report on Tulum (along with the 50,000+ pictures I took), you can go to:

Hope this helps!

Jim-

Thanks for the info- great site too!

Just to ask a few follow-ups, was it worth the time it takes to get there & back, or could your time have been better spent on another excursion? Also, did you eat at Carlo & Charlies because you wanted to, or was it too late for your normal dinner on the boat? Could you have made it back in time to eat at your regular dinner time? Let me know when you get the time.

Anyone else who has done Tulum, feel free to respond still as well!

Let's see...

We definately had time to make it back to the ship for dinner. I think we got back to Cozumel around 5PM or so (after the 1hr bus ride and the 1/2hr ferry), but we wanted to do some shopping and were definately wanting to check out Carlos 'n Charlies'. If we wanted to get right back aboard after Tulum, I'm sure we could have made it back to our stateroom by 5:15PM (the ferry drops you off right next to the ship).

The time getting there and back was about an hour each way on the bus and about 30 minutes on the ferry. The bus ride was ok - you get to see downtown Playa del Carmen which is very poor, but it's good to see for the experience. The ferry was incredible! We sat on the top so that we could see everything - the cruise around the Magic was great.
