Hi all,

My wife and I are spending New Years Eve (December 31) at Disneyland Paris. We are extremely excited!!

We'll need to get there from our the Hyatt Regency Hotel at Charles De Gaulle airport. Is this easy by train?

Also, perhaps more importantly - we will be needing to travel from Disneyland Paris BACK to the Hyatt Regency Hotel at Charles de Gaulle on the metro after the park closes at 1am. Is this possible or will I need to think about getting a taxi? Will the metro still be running from Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy in the early morning of January 1st?

Can I get a direct metro back to my hotel or will I have to stop and change?

Any advice/help is appreciated. Thanks all!!

Hi

I've been checking the details for the trains as I'm staying at Bussy-Saint-Georges which is 2 stops away on the RER A line which connects Disneyland Paris and central Paris by train. I can only find info which shows the last train as being 00:17 but I've been told on another board that the trains run until about 5am.......that is if you're travelling into central Paris - I really don't know for CDG aiport - I know the VEA shuttle does run but don't imagine it will be running at that time of night.....

I'm sorry I can't answer your question completely but I am sure someone will be able to advise.

Hi showstopper2008 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.
Hopefully those with local knowledge of the transport system at New Year will be able to check in.

I'd definitely look at the private hire shuttles on The Very Useful Info sticky under traveling by air and price up a few :)

Can anyone else help me?

Anyone here know what the metro situation is in Paris on New Years eve?

Will I be able to get from Disneyland back to Charles de Gaulle Airport?

HELLPPPPPPP!!!

Well, there is no direct metro line from DLRP to CDG Airport. There IS a TGV train; the first train usually runs at 726am or so. You can check the schedule at www.sncf.fr

Otherwise you would take the RER A into Paris, change and take the metro to CDG. But I don't think that they run quite as late as 2-3am, perhaps they do on New Year's Eve. You can check the schedule for that at www.ratp.fr

Personally, the amount of back and forth is a lot; even if you take the TGV it is 10 minutes trip but then you need to go from the train station at CDG T2 to your hotel.

I would consider finding a cheap room near to the park for the few hours that you would sleep that night, but that is just me.

per the holiday schedule at www.ratp.fr the last RER A train leaves Marne la Vallee at 0020hrs. That is the holiday schedule, so again I don't know if New Years Eve has extra trains

I would also be tempted to do as Bavaria suggests and find a cheap room nearer for the night- look in the FAQ section for links to cheap hotels.

It is quite a treck back to CDG from DLP. We did it from CDG to centre Paris last Feb and it took almost an hour and thats after the 30 minutes from DLP to Paris. You could try and taxi but not sure how much that will cost on that night- probably cheaper to stay somewhere.

It appears that in a few years past there was a 'Grand Nuit' schedule for at least the RER A line, but I cannot find confirmation that there would be anything for 2007 on any French site.

The RATP schedule for 31 December shows the last train from DLRP to CDG T2 via RER at 2220hrs and takes 94 minutes some of it not through the most savoury areas.

Cheers for the help all...

Man, this is a bit depressing...I'm still not sure how the heck we are going to be able to get back to our hotel...

What about Taxis? Are there stands outside of Disneyland Paris? I know it'll be expensive...but hell...if it gets us home and not waiting for hours out in the cold for metros...I'll take it as an option.

Obviously a busy time of year though... Thoughts?

it will run you about 80 Euros for a ride to the airport - many here use RS Transportation or BS Transportation (same thing)

Is that not the price for a normal trip? I would imagine it would be much more expensive after midnight on New Years Eve

IF they run at all - but I have taken them as early as 4am, so suspect that a 2am trip wouldn't be much different, unless they charge a holiday surcharge

Cheers all.

Well I'll try and find out more when we arrive in Paris tomorrow morning...

I'm being an optimist and thinking to myself - surely - on New Years eve when the park is going to be FULL of people...they wouldn't stop the trains running from that station BEFORE the park closes...otherwise there will be many others in the same position as me who won't be able to get back home.

I'm sure that not EVERYONE in the park will be guests of the hotels nearby...there would have to be decent portion of them who have come to the park from elsewhere in the city - and therefore will need to get home themselves. Right?

Am I being too optimistic?

Bah - I'm going to Disneyland baby!!! We'll figure something out I'm sure!

Anyone got any more late hour info? I leave late tonight... I'll be checking this for the next few hours in the hopes that someone will point me in the right direction.

Thanks all!! :)

I'm afraid I can't help.......but just wanted to say have a marvellous time. :wizard: :wizard:

YEY!!! Had a FANTASTIC time at Disneyland for New Years. We got a Taxi in the end with no hassles at all - cost 80 euros and the driver was a maniac but we got home safe and sound. Excellent!

It was foggy but the fireworks were great. Fark the park was packed to the brim!! You could hardly move! Got to go on some rides earlier in the day though so that was great...just chilled out for the last part of the evening before the countdown.

Indeedy! Great way to bring in the New Year and I thoroughly recommend it!

Glad that it worked and thank you for reporting back...

hmmmm - 80 Euros? did someone here say that it would be about 80 Euros??? ;)
