To all you "I must have BLT'ers"

You assume..

What if they do offer this as a seperate "product" and the only way to stay there is to BUY there?

It's not beyond the realm of possiblity that this is being set up to compete not with CURRENT DVC but with Four Seasons and as a new "product" Deluxe Disney Vacation Club anyone?

This may have some merit. I think Disney is trying to market a new "product" so to speak, placing an "upscale" attitude to BLT. Four Seasons is competition, although not apples to apples. You don't think for one minute Disney isn't going to try to tap into those dollars. Some come to see Four Seasons....hmm may be alittle out of their price range, but hey, there's the new BLT with Hawaii not far behind!

I'm jealous of the original OKW people who paid $51, got 50 years and free passes for 8 years!

hey, about me paying $48 with my cm discount and magical beginnings, can't beat that!!!

don't count on staying there - at least not for years.

DVC will probably do what they did with VWL.

with VWL you could not trade into the resort - they say that until more of the resort was sold into DVC - then you couldn't trade your resort for it.

this allows most of the BLT to be rented by CRO.

Disney gets their suites and DVC gets to say that BLT is one of their resorts - depsite not telling new members that they can't trade into it until a lot more is sold.

works for them - just not us.

if they go this route - then expect to have to buy BLT or wait for a few years to get into it.

BLT owners will always be able to get BLT.

guess we will find out shortly. If pre sales go as planned, then everyone can trade into it. if pre sales are less - then hey waited almost 16 years for this thing what is a few more years.

Do you mean that when they built WLV.....only WLV owners could stay there:eek: How long did this last?

As for BLT....had no interest in buying....I don't think anyone else will be with the "rumored" price.
Thanks
Kerri

I thought this was a thread about Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches.

Now I have to go have one.

This has happened with VWL, BCV, AKV and GC where people suggested huge increased and huge points increased on the start of sales and it never happened. Normally DVC raises the price per point around the time a resort starts selling but often have specials that make it the same or even less. Given the economy, I wouldn't be surprised if the price per point stayed the same well into BLT if it really happens. And the points for a comparable room should be around those of VWL, maybe slightly higher for a view. DVC certainly could start a new product but unless they want to totally change the rules, there's not an advantage to do so. IMO, this is just a bunch of people blinded by their interpretation of the demand for sales there. You'll find much the same group posting how much they want to buy there in all likelihood.

Everything at this point is rumor.

If I am not mistaken, Iger cautioned shareholders on expectations for 09 so while I am sure some people would take it at $180 per point (no way in heck I would), I tend to think sales would not be a grand as they are hoping at that $.

JMH YMMV

Hi Guys,

Last week when I saw the new building a few questions came up...I'm guessing this is the place to find the answers:)

While we were on a boat in Bay Lake from the water the building is a half circle so will the balconies be on the outside of the 1/2 circle or on the inside which seems to me that you would be looking at your neighbors across the way unless you are in the very middle of the circle looking onto the water.

That is to go with the new proposed view:

Magic Kingdom View
Bay Lake View
Parking Lot View
Voyeur View

The Voyeur View rooms will come complete with a telescope on the balconies! :rotfl2:

I thought about adding on at BLT, but dh surprised me with a 160 add on at AKV (the incentives were too sweet), so that will not happen anytime soon...as far as the point prices I wouldn't pay more than $130 pp, and if I did the incentives would have to be really awesome! :rotfl:

I don't believe this rumour of $140-$180 per point. Original rumours had it pegged at $115 per point as a starting price, which is MUCH more believable.

I don't believe it either. How can they double the price? My kids are going to Dance at Disney next April and the price to stay at the contemporary hotel is less then to stay at the boardwalk. A lot less. So why does everyone think that they will get this kind of premium when they are selling the rooms less then the rooms at the BW Inn. To be honest I would absolutely love to buy into BLT but at that price its so not worth it to me. I'd rather stay at the Contemporary with an AP discount. I think if any resort is worth a high premium it is the BCV due to its location and cool and unique pool. Now with AKV offering an awesome pool, the animals and unique restaurants and activities, it should be selling for more then it is too.

$180 per point just doesn't make sense!!

So they are posting big proposed numbers of $180 per point. Yes I wanted in too, and this number took the wind out of my sails. But then I remembered: I am already a BLT owner, and so are all of you. The only difference between me and those who will pay the $180 a point pricetag is 4 months (We can all reserve there at the 7 month window).

pinnocchiosdad,
I was thinking if I bought BLT (probably won't at 180 PP), I would definitely want to use my points at BLT.

Hate tomato, so don't want to buy there/stay there/do much there.

Did CA Grill once, okay...for me kind of a champagne taste on a beer budget thing, some folks will get that! :thumbsup2

Like Chef Mickey's for my kids, and the walk is convenient, but what turns me off about the place is the atmosphere, almost like there is none there, again just MHO.

I'll keep my AKV, and maybe one day add at BCV, VWL, or BWV. Only concern I truly have about an extreme price hike is the resale market and Disney using ROFR to take those numbers up drastically (which DVC Mike mentioned in another thread). :headache:

As mentioned in the above, the magic word to all of this hype:

RUMOR

I do wonder what's happening since DVC has been reluctant to even acknowledge it's existence. Do you think that BLT will be in a different category to DVC Hawaii? Hawaii would be the traditional DVC but BLT apart from that?

I'm not tempted to buy BLT.

They're still selling SSR and AKV so I'm sure they will wait until the last minute. They may even delay opening if they need to for sales purposes at the other resorts. Besides look at all the hype their getting, you can't buy that kind of publicity.

I would put the $140-$180 price in the same bag as the early asbestos removal rumors. The contemporary has lower room rates than Boardwalk and the Beach Club. Why would Disney think the new resort would sell at such a huge price increase? I think AKV will take a while to sell out….BLT price will have to be inline with AKV.

I doubt that would happen. Keep in mind that BLT owners with this plan would not be able to reserve at the other DVC resorts. I just don't see why this resort is so much more special than the other DVC resorts that it deserves special treatment. Maybe if it was located actually IN the Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind only about 1/4 of the rooms will have a MK view. As someone pointed out, the rooms on the Bay Lake side will be looking more at their neighbors.

The view situation was one of my first thoughts, too. The villas without an MK view (most of them) will either be looking at their neighbors or at the back of the CR. The first few floors facing the MK won't have much of a view, either. The premium will be for location and the monorail, and not actually so much for the views - or maybe even the resort itself, although I'm sure it'll be nice. It's just my personal opinion, but a high-rise DVC doesn't really grab me. I feel the same way about the CR. I prefer the charm of the lower, more sprawling resorts.

I still can't see it going for much outside $120 - but we shall see.

Disney compete with Four Seasons :rotfl2:

Are you going to wave your magic "service' wand at the BLT CM's Carol?

Don't laugh....

Folks pay Four Seasons MONEY NOW to stay at 3 star resorts.....

You can stay at TRUE Deluxe hotels all over the world for what DISNEY gets for a subpar room and subpar service at the GF!

Heck you can head up I-4 and get a TRUE Deluxe expereince in Orlando for less then Disney gets for it's 3 star service!:confused3

As long as folks pay Disney sees no need to upgrade the product! MAYBE Four Seasons will drive them to change, but I doubt it! Folks keep paying for "pretty"
