? To All Moms, Do You Do Laundry At Dw?

We are DVC members and usually stay in a 1-bdrm which has a washer & dryer. I usually do a load a day (it's one of those small stackable types, so doesn't hold a lot). We're usually there for more than a week and with a small child, stroller, and car seat to add to the luggage load, it's helps to cut down on how much we have to pack. Yet another reason I love DVC.

October will be my 1st trip, but I hate to come home with a ton of laundry from vacation. It helps that we have a private rental home with w&d, I figure since we are going in Oct, trip is Sunday - Sunday, we are only doing WDW 4 days, I will have downtime to do some laundry.. Not only that I don't feel like packing 5 pair of shorts per kid + dh & I.. So, I will probably pack 2 or 3 pair, and then wash 1/2 way through..

At home I cook and do laundry everyday. When I'm on vacation I don't want to do laundry or cook. Of course I'm only bringing one son this time so packing 7 or 8 changes of clothes isn't a big deal. Now the problem is I don't think he has 8 pairs of shorts. Buy new clothes or do laundry? If I don't get a room discount you may see me at the CBR laundry room

The only time I ever do laundry on vacation is when we are in Europe and that is only because when we go overseas we go for 3+ weeks at a time.

I hate doing laundry at home. The last thing I want to do on vacation is waste time doing laundry. Although everytime we get home I really wish I would have done the laundry at the hotel...

I did laundry for the first (and last) time at the Boardwalk in June. I hated it! I ALWAYS pack TOO much but, it was sooooo that we were sweating through everything and changing all day! The machines were very old. The dryer kept stopping before my clothes were even dry. I just felt that my clothes were not very clean after using the onsite washing machines. I know it was all in my head but, I kept thinking of news magazine shows and what would they find if the were to test the inside of these washing machines. Maybe it is only me. I am probably crazy but next time I am going to pack even more. I will buy new things if I have too!

usually we go for a wk-10 days and no I do not do laundry - if DH needs something washed he'll do it

However, this Aug DS13 & I are going for 14nights! Yes I am planning on doing laundry at either WL villas or BC villas

I do laundry once during our trips, sometimes twice. I just do it during our midday break. It's easier, to me, than packing extra clothes and lugging extra suitcases . I bring detergent from home, also.

We travel 3-4x per year, and no matter our destination, I pack light and do laundry. I hate hauling lots of suitcases around, and I hate coming home from vacation to suitcases of dirty clothes even more. Doing laundry as we go works for us. While at WDW, we usually do laundry during our pool time, and it really doesn't feel like it is cutting into play time too much.

I have the following packed in my otherwise-empty suitcase at all times: 1)ziploc bag with detergent tabs, dryer sheets, stain remover stick and quarters and 2) a pop-up mesh bag (it has a divider so one side can hold darks and the other side white) that folds absolutely flat for travel and weighs next to nothing.

When we arrive at our destination, we immediatley unpack and pop open our mesh laundry bag and put our laundry supplies in the bottom of the bag. We find, at the WDW resorts, it fits nicely under our sink area. The bag has handles and carries easily from our room to the laundry facilities. The folded laundry fits in nicely for the return to our room.

I always pack my girls cotton tees and shorts. They are mix and match and can very easily be washed in the sink and hung to dry in the room while we are gone.

last trip I even washed an outfit for me in the sink and hung it to dry near the AC.. it was dry by the time we returned from the parks that night.


I cant see paying THAT much to just do a load of clothes...

when i pack to go home. I separate the dirty clothes into loads and bag them in mesh laundry bags.. that way all i have to do is start the washer when we walk in the house... but since we always drive I have the luxury of taking as much as I want.

Only if we are staying longer than a week. I don't mind running down to do a load, I usually hang up to dry in our room.

Every year we drive down to Florida, every year I pack to much and I say, "Next year, I'm not bringing so much!" Every year I end up bringing the same amount of clothes!

I hate doing laundry on a normal day, let alone, doing laundry on vacation. I was just curious what all the other mom's do. I have 3 kids, ages, 7, 4, and 1.
There is also my dh, who is like another kid, always spills something on himself!

I'm planning to mostly because we're going in November/December and we'll need warm weather clothes and cool weather clothes and I'd basically have to pack 14 days of clothes otherwise. I don't mind doing laundry as much in laudromats as I do at home though, in fact sometimes when I've got a lot of laundry at home I pack it all up and take it to the laundromat. I can wash and dry everything and get it folded in a little over an hour rather than spending all day doing it a load at a time at home. I know, I'm weird. <g>

Reason...there's six of us and limited suitcase space, not to mention limited space in the rooms/cabins for all that luggage. Secondly, can you image the burden on ME after a week of laundry build up when we get home?? I'd be locked in my laundry room for days!!

Our family rule for vacations is half a suitcase of clothes allowed per person (except cruises when you need more dress up clothes).

It usually works for us...except the time we drove to FL and found that DH had packed a suitcase full of just UNDERWEAR (his) But that's another story!!

Yes, I too am a vacation launderer. I am such a night owl, that I am usually looking for somewhere I can read without bothering the family with my light, so it really works out great for me. I enjoy every minute, PLUS get "credit" for my sacrifice

For the person mentioning FW, I personally had a horrible experience with the driers. I don't know if it was just the luck of the draw or if they are all horrible, but I ended up hanging my jeans over the chairs at the campsite. That was a near record low December - maybe you are going in non-jean weather and it won't be so bad --- watch out for the lizards

Laundry on vacation.....NO WAY!!!!

But my DH always seems to do a load or two. He likes to go home with clean clothes.....so HE washes them and goes home with clean clothes!!!

We do laundry, but we stay at the cabins, so it is really convenient. We have 5 kids, and we usually go for 2 weeks, so doing a load or two is nice. I do it while the kids are at the pool. We also find that we usually end up wearing just a few things over and over, even when we brought other stuff. Kind of like at home....you have your favorites you wear more often. If I were going for just a week, I probably would skip doing laundry, though.

Oh, laundry at WDW and cruise ships is easy. We've done laundry in Europe and Asia and it's a much bigger pain. Most hotels do not have guest laundry and the they have no idea of the location of the nearest laundromat. The worst was in Kyoto. I think my husband has to schlep our laundry 2 miles to the laudromat. Honestly, Disneyland Paris wasn't much better. The only resort that had a laundry was at the Hotel Cheyenne which reminded us of a ghost town. There were 2 washers and 2 dryers and we had a terrible time figuring them out. There was another couple there from another country (not France) who was having problems too and it was hilarious how we communicated in all of our fractured french. I think our laundry took over 2 hours and my DH was pretty honked off. Yes, he does the majority of the laundry .

Yes I do the laundry. My son usually manages to spill stuff on a regular basis and I like to wash his new clothes before he wears them (I like to buy him a couple of WDW t-shirts to wear) so I do end up having to use the on site machines (though I'll only do it once) The AKL ones seemed to take forever, I lost an evening in there. The ones I used at the Grand Floridian were right next to the pool, so I went out and got one of those yummy Margarita's and sat by the pool, while I waited. Though I was a little concerned about leaving my stuff unattended..though I think soeone would need to be a little desperate to steal any of my clothes...after the margarita I was a little more relaxed!

You never get a load dry with one cycle in the dryers, they aren't great. Take plenty of quarters too, and if you can get a travel size bottle to put some of your favorite liquid/powder that saves you a few dollars. If I have any left I always pass it on to someone else, or leave it in the laundry room.

I do my laundry first thing in the morning...before the sun comes up pretty much have the run of the place: nice and quite.

I pack a 1 gallon Zip-Lock bag with:

2 Tide-to-Go ($.99 in the travel section at Target)
2 rolls of quarters
1 Spay n wash stain stick
10 Fabric softener sheets
1 Mesh Laundry Bag

Put the 2 rolls of quarters in your carry-on or the TSA agents will steal them

Any chance that there is a service that I could call and they would do our wash? (Hey they will watch your kids for a price.) I would pay to be on vacation and not have to come home with dirt clothes.
