I got one for my 2 year old for her birthday. The adults at her birthday party thought it was hysterical, she ran to hide. Now 2 months later, she loves him. I think it all depends on the child.
It really depends on the kid. That much movement/noise could scare the living poo out of him.
DS has a (now broken )Eeoyre doll that sang songs and flapped his ears. Scared the living crap out of DS to the point where if I even brought the thing out he'd cry for a long time.
