How bad/long are the afternoon rain storms in August? I was considering going to either TL or BB in the afternoon instead of 1st thing in the AM sometime during 8/25 - 8/27. Maybe around 2:00 or so to closing (I think 6:00). Would that be a bad idea considering the daily rain in August?

Rainstorms can get very bad in August. And they can last for hours. Best bet is to hit the waterparks EARLY - like first thing when they open. That way, by the time the clouds roll in, you've already had your fun. Trust me on this, we're summer WDW freaks and have learned to live by the rain. ;)

...that during the last week of July, Blizzard Beach was so crowded it had to shut down almost every day around noon. Typhoon Lagoon, though, was always open.

thanks.....I would not usually think about going to a park (water or otherwise) at that time but after reading TGM, I wasn't sure what would be best. We don't usually go at this time of year and we only have a few days to see the "World" so I'm a little worried about crowds eating away at what little time we have!

We're going in the p.m. later in the day. After having lived down there for several years - I kinda remember that you get dumped on (rain wise) and it stops after a bit. It USUALLY doesn't rain from 2-6:00. Have a great vacation!! We'll be down from 8/28 to 9/3 - can't wait!!!

I was at BB on Sunday and they closed all attractions around 5:30 due to impending inclement weather...it didn't start raining until about 15-20 minutes later which gave us time to find shelter. We left around 6:15 and it had died down to a drizzle and they hadn't reopened anything yet, but they were scheduled to close at 7:30. I'll be at TL this upcoming Sunday, so I'll let you know how that goes.

**edited to say that we always get there early...the only time since May that we've had to wait in line was this past Sunday...not sure if they opened the gates late or if there were just alot of early guests that day, but I would recommend arriving no later than 10 or 11 otherwise it's difficult to find a place to settle.**

:umbrella: :umbrella: rain in florida usually hits around 2:30-3:00 but it is over very quickly!
So i say go for it
TL is my favoritie...we got stuck at blizzard beach once durning a rainstorm but it ended up not raining just a scare!
But TL is my favorite! But scope out a place to go inside the water parks when it rains (something not obvious) and meet there if it does rain!
