D&DDisney, congratulations to you and your DS for being such a smarty! I bet he got it from his mother, right?

No, not from me.
However I have been called a smarty pants. :rotfl2:

Did I ever wish you a Happy Anniversary????

Congrats on hitting the 60 day mark. I've got 2 weeks until that point. Just can't wait. :hyper:

Too bad we will just miss you at WDW. Still waiting to see Pikester's new plan to see if we can fit in a meet. And.... Yoooo Hooooo, M&N? Any new updates on your WDW itinerary? Which day did you end up doing the CP?

Why is it that boys can't aim??? For goodness sake, its a big enough target!!!!:headache: Guess I need a cleaning lady/man.

Have to share some good news (since I've been such a Debbie Downer lately) from a very proud mommy...
My DS7 was just nominated for the Gifted and Talented program at school. :yay: :cool1:Teacher stopped me today to tell me. Guess he has stunned her with all his presidential and political knowledge and vocabulary. I always knew he was bright and excited about learning, but never would have labeled it gifted. We'll see how this plays out. Just had to share my excitement!!!:cloud9:

Congrats to your DS! That's awesome!

DS is definitely feeling better, but his cough sounds awful. I'm watching him like a hawk. Cough...check. Sore throat...check. Fever...nope. If he hits 100 we are back to the doctor for another flu check.

It got down to 62 in my house...no heat yet! It does feel warmer now.

I like Survivor too. Does Russel have the idol? Somewhere I heard that if he does, it's the one for the other team? :confused3 I think the other team leader was stupid to pick the comfort stuff! When it rains, how comfortable will that be?

If I ever go to Alaska, I would like to see the villages along the coast with totem poles. I liked your Denali pic too.

I saw previews of Fastforward Wendy and thought it looked good too.

Smarty Pants now? Some of my friends are just getting too many names...can't keep up! :rotfl:

Marie---hope you had a great dinner out. Is Dec 3 a Thurs? That's when I will be at EPCOT. Thanks for the vote of normal for me but many would not agree. I have never been married and many think that is strange. It's hard sometimes. But I can do many things that those with husbands cannot. I run my mom and friend's mom around. I can go to FL whenever I want to see my friends. I think it's going to get worse as I age though...no sibblings, no kids, and someday no parent to rely on. I am a firm believer that I am where God wants me so I need to be happy with that. When I look back thinking of the one I thought was THE one, I am sooo happy it did not happen!

Have a great weekend everyone...

D&DDisney, that is so wonderful for your son.

whgrn, I hope your son feels better soon. I hate it so much when the kids get sick. My middle daughter stayed home from school today. She must have eaten something that really didn't agree with her. She never wants to stay home from school and when I asked her about it this morning and she said she did, I knew not to second guess her.

Ev, maybe we'll be on here at the same time one day and we can chat about Survivor.

M&N, I had heard that about the immunity idol as well. I get tons of information from the Survivor thread here. Those posters really know their stuff.

You already have a month of loving behind you and it'll only get better!

Thanks so much M&N, I really an not believe that my little pumpkin is a month old! Amazing the difference a month makes!

Why is it that boys can't aim??? For goodness sake, its a big enough target!!!!:headache: Guess I need a cleaning lady/man.

D&D, heck that is aweome news! I'm proud of him right along with you! Congrats!

Thanks for all the happy anniversary wishes from everyone. We had a nice quiet evening at home but will be going out for dinner tonight. I had DH bring in Braum's junior burgers last night in honor of our earlier years together. When we first got married if my saintly MIL had not fed us so often we would have probably starved. We were pretty poor. She cooked breakfast and lunch for his company and would send us leftovers all the time. On many days she and DH's dad would ride into town to get out of the house and on most Fridays pick up my Step-D for the weekend. They would always stop at Braum's and bring us home a whole bag full of junior burgers. They taste just as good today as they did back then. I am very sure it is not because they are great burgers but more because of the sentimental memories.

Wow, DL55! I would have had to pass on the parka too! They are sure proud of their Eskimo attire, aren't they?

Yippee, Pikester! You are under 2 months til WDW! I hit my 60 day mark today. I wonder how Kitty and Shmu are doing?
It sounds like your son is doing very well in his Karate. Seems like one thing leads to another. My DS does the Jiu-Jitsu, of course, but every now and then he will attend a Tae Kwon Do or Judo class to pick up yet another skill. He hasn't done anything with weaponry though. What sort of weapons so they use in the Kubudo? Bet that's scary to watch. I don't like the TKD so much cause it has the kickboxing and much rougher physical contact. My DS is in much better physical shape than I ever was. I never ever had that much discipline! (of course, now you can really see where that got me!) I see BKMETV has a Karate son too!

So Ev, what type of Karate is your son involved in?
My boys have trouble aiming at the potty too. You would think that someone who has done it for 50+ years could finally hit the darn target!

whgrn, I am glad I gave you such a good laugh by trying to include you and your family in the "normal" category. I guess we will throw your name in with the rest of us and our "challenged" families. So it appears that we have no choice than to let M&N be the sole person around here to claim the title of "normal" unless someone else steps forward.
I hope DS gets feeling better soon AND doesn't pass it along to the rest of the family.

M&N, I gotta fess up. It took me 3 times to find my gem. When you hear me make mention of some of the stupid things I have done in the past, my past marriages fall into that realm. There was a time when I apparently thought I couldn't live without someone else to make me happy. After much heartache and many improvements I have finally learned that the happiness had to come from with in. Thankfully, the 3rd time appears to be a charm cause I am not planning to ever do marriage again!
I love bird bath flower gardens. I put some moss rose in mine this year cause i finally got tired of it being either empty or full of moss. I have enjoyed the flowers much more and so have the butterflies!

JOCAmom, you may be on to something. Maybe with us all being dysfunctional we were drawn towards each other. Looks like we will be coming to the end of another thread before way long. (we are on page 172) Maybe we should work something about that into our next title.... the DIS DYS TKer thread.

LITC, that's right! You concentrate on the most important thing right now... that sweet little baby boy! Hard to believe it has already been 4 weeks!

D&DDisney, congratulations to you and your DS for being such a smarty! I bet he got it from his mother, right?

Marie :scared1: you are kidding me! I have never ever once had to clean up after my husband, and I sure dont plan on cleaning up after Walter, once he is potty trained of course! :lmao:

M&N, I had heard that about the immunity idol as well. I get tons of information from the Survivor thread here. Those posters really know their stuff.

Or act like they do! :lmao:

I love reading the J&K thread...lots going on there too!

Hey Walter's Mommie! I think there will be lots od diapers before it's potty training time!

Wendy...I heard some don't test for flu right away so you are wise keeping an eye on him. Wash your hands....

I must get off and get packed for Mom's...

Goodnight M&N. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

LITC, I think it is a common problem with boys and their aim. Mine have the same problem. Except I don't clean toilets. I make one of the boys do it. You know, the I didn't make the mess, so I'm not cleaning it.

I asked DS11 what weapons he has used and he told me that he has used two. The first is a long stick about six feet long that is called a Bo and the other is a Sai that is similar to a sword but has a blunt end. We live just down the road from the Dojo (he walks during the summer and gets their in less then 5 minutes) so I don't go in and watch. I make DH take him to tournaments so that I don't have to see him perform especially if he is sparring, totally gets me wound up!

I like your thinking JOCA! I have had DS clean up after himself, but it always seems to end up being a bigger mess. :crazy2: Told him if his aim doesn't get better he's going to be going outside w/ the dog.

Whgrn - I sure hope your DS feels better soon and that it isn't the dreaded flu.

M&N - You will never be alone as long as you have us. :grouphug: Take good care of Mom this weekend. Are her Phillie still in the race?

D&DDisney, my son used to play the game of "if I do a horrible job, stepmom will just do it herself" And I did for a long time. Now when he does that kind of stuff because he doesn't want to do chores, we just make him do it again. And again, and again till he does it the way it's suppose to be done. And he knows how to do it well just chooses not to. And that's most family chores with him. If you don't want to spend an hour doing the same chore, then do it right the first time. His choice....I just got tired of playing the game.

JOCA - Did you see the really cute Disney Cruise tickers on this site? http://www.***********************/stepone/vacation.html

We made it home from our big night out on the town. Not really a big night. Just another meal at a small town eating place. DS said his food was better than last time but the rest of us thought ours selections had gone down in quality some. Their food LOOKS great but has no flavor. I think everyone in our area cooks for old farts who have no taste buds! I need some garlic salt! Still... the fact that I did not have to cook made it about 100% a-ok, even if we weren't crazy about the food. Anyway, the place has a really nice atmosphere, all decorated in memorabilia from the past, so we haven't decided to give up on them just yet. Maybe next time we will play it safe and just go for a burger. Anyway, at the end of the meal we checked out the dessert menu. DS wanted a Carmel Coffee Shake and DH and I decided we would try their "Timber Shake" because it was free. Glad we did. They brought us up a glass of water and asked what we ordered. When we said a Timber Shake, they spelled it out and suddenly another waiter came running to the table yelling "TIMBER"! and tossed a toothpick in the water. Pretty funny. The kids got a real kick out of it. So that's it for our big night out.

I guess there must be all kinds of sicknesses floating around. DS and DD are both complaining of sore throats. I hope that's all it turns out to be. I hope everyone else's patients get to feeling better quick.

M&N, I admire anyone for having stuck to their guns and NOT GETTING MARRIED just to be married. If you did not find the right guy there is no point in wasting your precious time. Perhaps you could have just settled and ended up in a horrible relationship or ended up divorced. And who knows... the one you thought was the one may not have really been Mr. Right. He might still be out there! On the other hand, I also do not think that everyone is meant to be married. I have known some who were perfectly content to not have a spouse and even some others who would probably be better off if they did not have one. You are absolutely right though, God knows what plan he has for you! Nothing strange about that!

LITC, Dang! You have got your DH trained well! My DH comes from the caveman era so he still believes in the little wife taking care of the home. I am a bit old fashioned myself so I don't mind tending the house as long as I don't have to work although I do think it rather rude of men to be so inconsiderate as to not clean up some things. Thank the Lord I have someone who comes and cleans... otherwise there would be a whole lot more B*T*Hing going on! In their defense, I am pretty sure they really do clean up if they miss the target by a mile!

Pikester, DS's classes sound very interesting. You are so lucky to be so close to his classes. We used to drive 45 minutes to get to DS's classes but thankfully they put a academy closer to where we live, only 15 minutes. Attendance has been off and on and his instructor said they have a year to see if they can make it worth it for him to stay. Here's hoping it picks up but in this economy who can say. If not, it will be back to the long drive. I really like that school better because it is so much bigger. I used to go watch all the time but there is just no room at the new location. He also gets a better work out at the old school because he has so much more competition. I have really been amazed at how few injuries we see considering how much physical contact goes on. I am the one who usually watches him during class because DH is the one who cringes at the thought of him getting hurt. However, we all go support him at tournaments. It does tend to get you all wound up! My DH can get almost embarrassing at times. :sad2:

No, I didn't see those. They are so great and what a good variety. Looks like I might have to change my signature.

Thanks.

D&DDisney, that was so great. Except it made me wish for Disney even more. We usually go every year but at this point, I really don't know when we will be going back. The most I can picture at this point is a day trip if we go visit my husband's brother in FL.

marie, any night I don't have to cook is a good night for me. Glad you had a nice time on your night out.

I'm looking at this video as a way to visit Disney every day. :tink:
I used to like those real-time cameras they had at the parks before 9/11. I would go and click on it every day just to get a glimpse of the parks.

I was in denial for a little bit, but it's official, I too am a threadkiller. I even started one for FUN and killed it on the original post.:sad2:

any type of initiation rites? hazing? I'm willing to go thru whatever :worship:

Morning all:

It's cloudy cold and gray here today...think I'll putter inside. Maybe finish up the newsletter for school.

Why is it that boys can't aim??? For goodness sake, its a big enough target!!!!:headache: Guess I need a cleaning lady/man.

Have to share some good news (since I've been such a Debbie Downer lately) from a very proud mommy...

:cool1: Very cool!! Must take after his Mom

So Ev, what type of Karate is your son involved in?

:confused3 No idea what kind it is...all I know is DS is an orange belt and DD is yellow. The Dojo is just down the street so like Pike, my two can walk...mind you in a small town you can pretty well walk anywhere.

Ev, maybe we'll be on here at the same time one day and we can chat about Survivor.

I'll try to hook up with you soon...life has been kinda hectic lately.
