Who makes your Gee your hair smells terrific? What color is the bottle? Don't worry, its on my working list of stuff to pick up.

Oh, also after our Wishes cruise last year, I offered to give someone a ride to All Star Movies. she was touring solo and was going to take a taxi from WL. It was silly of her to pay when we were on our way to Pop anyway! So I guess I do pick up people!

OK Ladies,
TMI, maybe but I think that maybe this weekend, since DH will be gone, DD and I will have "the talk" she has asked questions, she talks about periods with both of us already and may/may not know most of it but, doesn't know our values or other aspects of this.
I have talked about this to other kids before:teacher: but, am strangely nervous about talking to my own kid.:confused3:rotfl::confused3 She is level-headed but, I don't want to weird her out.
Any advice from experience or having older children?
What to avoid/stress would be things I need to know.

Already been there. Had to talk w/ DS11 about babies etc. as his body is changing. Thought it better to have him hear it at home first than from friends. Used a book to get conversation going. Not too bad. Think DH should have done this:sad2: but he is too chicken.
Good luck. Even boys are weired out by the whole growing up thing.

Bopsmom Although I know it's right to cut off friendship with that girl, I feel sorry for her. She needs help.
MagiKitty Glad to hear you've had good luck at the casinos. Plus NOT having a white hair. :goodvibes
JOCAmom 6 people to wash for?! :faint: I know laundry never stops but I like to be able to hide it in the laundry hamper. :guilty:

I still haven't downloaded my pictures.
Travel to Vancouver went pretty smooth. Delta had oversold on our connection to Vancouver. We were about to take the compensation ($600) and take the next flight 6 hours later. But another couple snapped it up. The weather was nice and clear. A bit brisk in the morning but quickly warming up. We ended up in a one bedroom suite with a balcony. Could see some of the bay. We really enjoyed the large bathroom, knowing how small they are on the ship. ;)
We rented bicycles and rode around Stanley Park. Very large and beautiful. Went to the aquarium and saw the baby beluga whale that had been born just a few months ago. Monday morning we hiked around the Park. It felt like we were in the wilderness already. We didn't check out until 10:30 am since we couldn't get on the ship until 11 or so.
That's all I'll say for now. Hoping to get my pictures ready today.

Bopsmom....which "talk" are you talking about? Just the period one...what her body is doing? Or the "talk talk" about boys and whatnot?

Honestly, I've had my period for decades now, and its still weirds me out to think about what my body is doing. So don't worry about freaking her out. Its just some weird stuff....

I don't pick up hitchikers...I don't see very many of them. BUt I have been known to stop and offer rides to older people walking. Especially if they have groceries or something. I feel bad and would like to think that someone would stop and help my parents if they were struggling with stuff...I know, its bad.

You are such a sweet person, It didn't come out the way I meant about hitchhikers. I too give/offer rides to older people or during the rain. :goodvibes

Again, You are a sweet person:goodvibes and I hope that if I ever need a ride you'd be around.
The bottle is pink. I don't know who makes it but, I really don't want you to go to trouble over it. It's just a lark and since they only make it there I thought it was funny. and I thought telling you was funny.

Yep, it's the baby one-although I really think she knows the mechanics of that too, not the emotional/sexual part.
DD knows all about periods-(she had DH buy her Midol last week) and such but she is getting 'that kind of' attention from boys now and I want her to know what/what is not right. I don't want her to think 'kick him in the balls'-DH's advice- be the only option when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex???:rotfl:

Wow! bopsmom...that's the hardest talk out there! I still don't know what boys are thinking most of the time!

I guess the thing to stress is that young people's bodies are full of hormones and they are curious about what its doing to them. And don't necessarily believe what someone else tells you! Boys are just as confused with girls--but they try to hide it by pretending they know everything. Explain the the body is an amazing thing and so is DD...there's no rush to do anything in life. Its ok to have feelings and interests, but if there's a little voice telling you something isn't right...believe it.

DD has the rest of her life to become a wonderful young woman. All this stuff is normal, but not necessarily for right now. I'm sure there's a lovely young man out there interested in her, but she needs to let him know the most important thing is for him to respect her.

That being said, I kinda agree with DH's advice! :rolleyes1

DL55...yeah on the start of the vacay talk! Great to hear you enjoyed Vancouver! And a suite with a view! Swanky!

Poor Bopsmom! I feel for you having to have "the Talk".

I am a TMI Mom. I tend to give too much information before the kid needs it so DS11 has been hearing about "stuff" for a while now. The intercourse part to talk about is easy, it's all the other stuff you should talk about. The "Oral" stuff that many kids these days do not consider to be "sex", STDs, the equipment to keep you from getting STDs if you do have sex even though I'm telling you not to have sex until you are married but I'm not an idiot so I still need to tell you about all the equipment that is need to "do the deed". Then you have all the emotionally stuff.

OMG! The casual attittude about oral sex!!! I can't believe it! These kids are too young to even KNOW about that stuff....let alone even doing it!

My younger niece has a trashy friend who sent her pics of her BF's privates! And bragged about doing oral while at the movies! EEW! I was appalled.

I told my older twins, if you're too embarrassed to go to the store and buy your own protection, then maybe you shouldn't be doing anything that requires it. That being said, I also told them that if they EVER EVER need stuff, I will get it for them. They need to be safe!

Thanks guys, you know what I'm up against.
The only saving grace is that DD says "she likes boys" BUT there is no boy that she is interested in. She wants to do well in school and that would get in the way.

See, ending all her Fairy Tales with " an the princess gets her Doctorate Degree, meets a nice man then, Lives Happily Ever After.... " wasn't such a bad idea after all. :goodvibes

I am thanking goodness she is at a GT Academy right now(very small school) but, the neighborhood girls she grew up with are hanging out with Sk8erBoyz at the icehouse -I know that will change someday soon and she will wonder if they are having more fun than she is.

Even so, she has GF's at school that are already kissing in the halls Ewwwwwwwwww

Y'all making me feel bad! such hard workers and good cleaners! I'll think really really hard about cleaning as a show of solidarity....

My ticker is wrong. I'm too lazy to change it. We're leaving on the 26th...16 days to go! I get to check-in online next week. I really haven't started packing beyond socks....

This entire post has been about how lazy I am! I'm so embarrassed!

Thanks for the support...I should have exercised before cleaning...then I would have been too tired to start! Don't worry...I didn't finish the room yet! :rotfl:

I am so happy for him. He is such a nice guy! Although, it would have been nice to see you get married. :bride: We would've come to NY and thrown you a wicked bachelorette party. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I have to see my wonderful family again this weekend for my nephew's (brother's boy) b-day party. My DH and I hate going to family get togethers, but do it for the kids (both ours and our nieces and nephews) Kids can't help who they ended up w/ either. I'll just drink heavily :drinking1, try to numb the pain and hope I don't say anything stupid. :rotfl2:

We can still do the party! :dance3:
I guess we will get some great stories from this weekend---if you can remember them! :lmao:

Ok, I just have to get this out. I keep reading about all these people trying to figure out a way to Sea World from Disney. I want to offer someone a ride, since BF and I are going twice on this trip. BF is an adamant NO--he says I'm too trusting. I just hate to think of people shelling out $100 on transportation back and forth to Sea World when I'm going anyway. Its criminal!

On the other hand, these are probably the same people who will cut me off in line and mumble something under their breath about BF's crutches or wheelchair.

I know what a sweet person you are but think of those people who were nasty to you...you may end up with one of them! Plus it would put time constraints on your trip. If they can afford to go, they should have factored in the price of getting there. How long did you search out the best rental? Share that tip with them and you did your part.

...I will have "the talk" she has asked questions, she talks about periods with both of us already and may/may not know most of it but, doesn't know our values or other aspects of this.

May God give you wisdom this weekend.

Great idea for fairy tales...
I am sooo out of touch! Where are the teachers? I do see it going hot and heavy on the street.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I won't ask if anyone comes to your mind from this thought!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: That is perfect!

hey, has anyone heard from Wendy? She hasn't checked in for a while...

Bopsmom---I reread the computer smashing thing. Did you say that the girl's mother was there when it happened? I think the girl should have to pay to have it fixed or for the insurance or something. I'm not saying that your dd isn't held accountable too but how about the one who actually smashed it? I guess loosing friends is punishment but not enough IMO...

:lmao:You always know just what to say. :rotfl: I love it!

Just a note to say that Wendy's been on Facebook so I guess she's ok! Don't ask me how I know this...I cannot reveal my sources.

Good evening. How is everyone doing?

M&N, that slinky saying always makes me laugh. There are a few people in my life that applies to.

Bopsmom, good luck with having "the talk" I've been having mini-talks with my daughter for a couple of years now (she's 13). She gets weirded out easily sometimes and I didn't want to make her head spin with all the info.

DL55, Hi. Is Alaska really beautiful? I've looked at a lot of pictures from there and I find it so breathtaking.

HI JO---Looks like everyone has gone to bed early tonight. Are your little ones tucked in?

I meant to tell you I like your Maxine. She's a riot. I think it should say something about how small the bathrooms are. I'm sure she could make that very colorful! Actually the cabin I was in had 2 rooms...both super small though. I just felt funny taking a shower out in the middle of the ocean.

Hi M&N. I love Maxine too. She says everything that I wish I could.

All my little ones are in bed, thank goodness. Even though they are all in school now, they still wear me out.

This will be our first cruise. I feel like I have 101 questions. Did you take a Disney cruise or was it on another cruise line?

My mom and I did a 3 day Disney cruise. The friends we have in Orlando arranged it because he works at the outlet for Disney. I would love to go again. We went in December and everything was decorated so much. The food was wonderful...you can eat everything on the menu if you really could! And such good service. You keep the same servers for all your dinners. They remember what you like to drink and treat you like royality.
