Marie --I have a home schooling question. How does "graduation/diploma" work when you home school? Do you get one from your local school system? I have wondered that for some time.

Ev--so glad you got the card. Sorry it came so late. With Walter being sick so long I couldn't seem to get to the post office and find out how much I needed to mail it!

M&N - I'm just going to shorten the year to TEN! Everyone will know what you mean. If that fails, I vote for TWENTY-TEN cuz its shorter to say.

The kids are all psyched up to stay up til midnight tonight. It is the only time we let them stay up that late (except for unforseen circumstances). DH has to work til 5pm and then we'll have our "special" homemade meals and dessert.
The box of balloons should be ready to go soon and the firework poppers are ready to take outside at midnight!! If they don't freeze!!!! The temps are going to get VERY LOW tonight - around 4.

I won't be back until Monday...kind of keep track of who checks in. I worry I forgot someone.

I'm going to Mom's early. It's supposed to snow some tomorrow and she takes the bus to get her hair done every Thurs.

Patrick had his yearly checkup today. Only cost $430! He needed knee replacements! (break pads) Also had his shoes rotated and of course a blood transfusion. It adds up.

Finally got the little monsters, er, um, angels to bed. There is still quite a bit of noise coming from the room 3 of them have decided to share for the last week. I swear, all that construction to give them each their own room and they want to sleep together.

Don't know when I'll be on the computer next (except tonight). DH and I have to adjust our days now that he is officially retired. He is now home permanently to drive me crazy. I know the ticker is off. DH told me retirement was the last day of the pay period. He just came by to say he was throwing away his work shoes.

Good last afternoon of 2009! I see a most of us have checked in, which is always a relief.

Its snowing here too! It wasn't supposed to start until this afternoon, but by the time I was up this morning, there is was already! It is pretty, though I dread having to do anything in it like drive or shovel.

Kerrie, you're doing construction on the house? Congrats on that too. Although they're driving you crazy, your bunch are really cute.

D&D...that candy cane pie looks really good. I've never heard of it before. Is it locally made?

I'd like to be more decluttered too. I never got around to putting away summer clothes, so its just a big riot of clothes all over the place. I shouldn't complain, I'm so blessed to have so much.

I always intend to be a better person every day, as resolutions go. I do have a itsy bitsy problem with road rage and my snarky attitude can get me in trouble sometimes (although good sarcasm can get you out of some situations). I just want to be more aware of the person I am and the little choices I make.

I've been saying two thousand ten. Which is really weird coz 2009 went by really, scarily fast.

Although I really should be off doing something else I just had to stop in. I've felt like crap the last couple days. Some sort of sinus infection or something. Today the headache has subsided for the moment so I thought about getting up and getting something done around the house but then I thought WTH... wouldn't want to push myself too much .... so here I still sit! Besides that there are now 2 places to keep up with and lots of good conversation flowing. I would hate to miss all that!

LITC, to answer your diploma question.... I am not sure about all state's requirements but in Texas we are blessed that there are not too many rules and regulations. When my DS graduates we will order a graduation certificate and I will fill it out. Wella! He will be done. Which, BTW, should be within the next couple of months.... just depends on how long he decides to drag it out. One down and one to go!

Sounds like a big time at the D&D house tonight! We really don't put nearly as much into our celebration. If I manage to stay awake that long I am doing real good!

DL55, I feel for you! After just coming away from 2 entire weeks with my DH I have no idea how we will manage when he retires. Thank heavens it is still a long way off! Here's hoping that you and your DH retire well together.

Kitty, I just had a similar conversation with a friend of mine a few days ago.... so I will repeat the same to you..... You have got to get a grip on that road rage stuff! There are too many crazy people in the world that might end up having a more serious rage than yours. Be safe girl!

Ok, am I the only one who remembers all the countdown lists for New Years? Used to be the entire day was full of your choice of "best of/worst of" lists. I miss them! Now, it just seems that the New Year just occurs after 10pm. I'm sad. I like those year in review things. I can't find a single one of them.

Marie, I totally know that my road rage issue is just so unbecomig. I've only ever rolled down the window and yelled at someone once, and it was another woman. My older nephew was with me and he was rather impressed with both my colorful vocabulary and my as he put it, b*lls to throw down in the parking lot. That, coming from an 18 year old boy, was enough to shame me forever. Now I just huff and offer "helpful" driving hints out loud.....

Kitty, I just really just mentioned the road rage mainly cause it seemed so ironic that my friend was telling us how she was apparently becoming unhinged as she was starting out pre-menopause. About a week ago she said she flipped of a black fellow in a crummy part of town and then proceeded to get out of her car and continue hollering at him. Her daughter was giving her what for! I just want you all to be safe!
I have not seen too many lists but I did watch the top videos of the year on youtube.com. Most were pretty stupid but a few were actually funny.
