Ok...so here's how my weekend in Kansas went....

I thought since D&D wasn't going to be with me on the plane (sadness...missed you girl!) I'd have an empty seat next to me. Nope. Had some college boy--football size--next to me, who promptly fell asleep and invaded my space. Luckily it was only an hour flight to Detroit.

From Detroit to Kansas city, it was pretty uneventful except for the butterflies in my stomach. BF met me at the airport and we went to dinner and then the casino. Kansas is a really nice area, but it was freakin hot even at 11pm!

We spent the next day with his sister, her husband, and their 3 kids. The girls were pretty much shy, but I had a good time getting to know his sister and BIL. Later that night we had a "date" and went to Dave and Busters for dinner and to play video games.

Sunday was the big one. It was the littlest niece, Elizabeth's birthday party. EVERYONE was there. It was kinda hard to get everyone straight. It was BF's parents, their new spouses, some step-siblings and their children, BF's grandparents. The grandparents were super nice and kind to me. I liked them instantly. I liked his father and his wife--who I felt was a little uncomfortable like me.

Now, the mother. Hmmm....well, she didn't talk to me, but she did say hello. Then again, she didn't talk to BF either. Her boyfriend was pretty nice, although he was glued to the racing scores. I was hoping to talk to her a little bit, but she was definitely stand-offish. It was ok. Its over.

The family didn't stay together long. We had cake and ice cream, sang happy birthday, opened some presents and were out of there. Kinda strange to me.

Afterward, we went to see Toy Story 3. It was so cute! And yes, I cried. We went to this cool think called Fork and Screen. You pay $15/pp, and it includes $8 in food credits. YOu have reserved seating and you press this little button for table service. We got drinks and snacks and enjoyed the movie. We don't have anything like that here.

Overall, it was a good weekend. The drive back was uneventful, except for the fact that the entire state of Pa is under construction I think!

Morning. It's so cold here and it really stinks....for me at least.

Welcome home, MK. I'm glad you had a good time with most of BF's family. Sorry about his mom but like you said, it's over now. Now that movie theater sounds really cool. My kids would be tickled pink over something like that here. Heck, they think drive-ins are one of the most awesome things in the world.

As for MIL, we only get bits and pieces of the story. But she is out of the hospital and they are moving in this weekend.

Good Morning!

I hope Mrs. and Mr. Sukie had a WONDERFUL anniversary!

JO, good luck with MIL move this weekend. You're a good woman taking on so much.

Kitty, welcome home!

Hi to everyone else!

Yesterday DH's work received 6in of rain in a short amount of time. The shop was flooding as were many nearby rivers. There's still lots of rain in the forecast due to Alex. I hope we don't get as much as they're predicting because Central Texas is prone to flash flooding. The news already reported one man floating down a river, face down, in Austin yesterday. Thankfully, employees and patrons of a restaurant saw him and were able to rescue him.

Oh, Kerrie, I do hope that your area is spared some of the rain!

JO--much prayers to you and your family during this period of adjustment. Besides having to deal with adding two more people to your household, you'll have to deal with the medical issues and attitudes. It will be stressful. Don't try to do it all. Do the best you can and we're here for you.

Hi Everyone!

Kitty - Glad you're back and that things went well for you. I missed being on that flight too. :guilty: Sorry you had to sit by the big guy!

Happy Anniversary MR& MRS Sukie!!! Hope you had a great day.

LITC - Glad your ride home went well. STill wish I could've met you. Big hugs to little Walter!!

JO - Hope MIL is back on track soon. Praying for you on the transition.

Kerrie - Hope y'all don't get too much rain. Stay safe!!!

lilmiss - How was the dentist??

So we just came home from our little weekend excursion. Was supposed to be a camping trip but after the week we had, I told DH we've had enough "camping experience". So we found a great deal in the Wisconsin Dells at a Water Park Hotel. For $99 per night we had a 2 room suite, and all the waterpark activities the boys could want. 4 water slides, 5 different hot tubs, 2 lazy rivers, and tons of other activity pools. The boys were in heaven and it helped us take our minds off things for a while. All in all we had a great time and got a super "Kitty Deal"!!! :thumbsup2

DH and I celebrated 18 years of wedded bliss this weekend too. We can honestly say that we've just about been through it all now.

D....sounds like you had a wonderful weekend and I'm so glad that all of you could have a little fun. It does sound like a blast! Happy Anniversary to you too! ooh, a hot tub sounds lovely....

Oh...and to top it all off we have canceled our Disney vacation in Aug.

The repairs are just going to be too costly (even w/ insurance help) for all the things insurance won't cover (landscaping etc.) Plus I won't have my job in fall and with DH losing his at the end of the year, we thought our priorities should be on getting ourselves in shape to weather the next "storm" so to speak.

aw, hugs, D....its going to be rough, but you're making the right decision. You have all the right ducks in a row. Maybe we can plan for a grand TKer reunion sometime in the future after all this craziness is over...

Sounds great!!! Let's start planning next year's reunion. :thumbsup2

So...now that you've met the family, have you started talking FAMILY to BF yet?? ;) (I am so quietly hoping to hear some good news soon!!!)

D&D, it sounds like you had a lovely getaway! I'm sure it was great to get your minds off of everything for a little bit. Sorry to hear about everything else that is happening. Life can be so rough.

We had ALMOST gotten on board with our own souvenir when we had the children from he** on our flight. Actually kinda scared me too....two little boys sat behind us....and kicked us our entire flight from Kansas to Detroit. Would've been tolerable if the littler one didn't have issues with seat belts. Hated it. Screamed at the top of his lungs constantly. Even the flight attendants had to get involved--and she was scary!

BF's sister has three girls...so there should be little boy somewhere in there. BF's father is very involved with his step-daughters, which causes some tension between his own children and him. Even went to far as to brag that one of them and her husband both had gotten their masters this past year. UNCOMFORTABLE!

Essentially, I understand BF a lot better now that I've witnessed his family dynamic. He knows that when we start a family, his family will not be very supportive and can't be relied on. We have my family and their over-involvement to deal with too.

We both know that I really want a baby sometime soon and we'll have to make accomodations. We're both really worried about finances and paying for college. Silly, I know when we have to figure out how to pay for diapers first!

Finances have a way of working themselves out. Family is what is most important. I know first hand about extended family not being there for ya.
When you and BF are ready emotionally I say go for it. You don't want to wait too long and then find yourself with fertility issues - believe me.

Hey Pike! How was the ride back? What time did you leave the hotel? Happy birthday again!

D...I'm worried about my fertility. I already have a lazy ovary (my left fallopian tube is twisted and probably is not releasing eggs like it should), but I believe in the power of positive thinking! My baby will come, however he/she's meant to become part of our family.

You know, meeting with Walter this past week, I just know that I have some great Aunties on here who will help me figure out the Mommy track! Did you hear? I got to hold him and he was so sweet and smelled so good--I think my ovaries were crying! Such a good baby!

We left late for us. It think it was around 9AM and then we went out for breakfast at the Soda Jerk in Hummelstown. So yummy; I love diner food!

Got on the road after that and it wasn't to busy. We stopped for a late lunch at the Everyready Diner in Brewster, NY.

Traffic still wasn't that bad but once we got close to Hartford, CT it was a mad house. I've got claw marks in the armrests of my seat still!

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes!

If everyone waited until they had enough time, money, etc to have a baby nobody would have one. You will have one when the time is right for you and BF.

I know where Brewster is...its not too far from my nephew's dentist in Fishkill.

I love diners also. Seems to be more of an East coast thing. Didn't see any in Kansas. Saw one Dunkin Donuts and was so excited about it.

I'm starting to think that I'm being silly and waiting about the baby thing. But it seems like such a momentous decision that I should be scared about it! We did see an Asian mom/white dad and their family at the store. I pointed the kids out and told BF that's what our kids would look like! He wasn't very thrilled. Terrified, more like it.

I've spent the last 3 hours cleaning out our bedroom. Our bedroom has been the catch-all for whatever piles ended up around the rest of the house. I mean everything. Moved the furniture around and swept every little corner..I even swept the closet out. Curt is bringing me a couple of boxes home so I can pack up some important papers to store up in Jackie's room. We can't leave anything like that around with Curtis. He would go through them and hide them, if not outright take them.

D&D, I'm sorry you had to cancel too. We can cry together. But your weekend sounded wonderful and I bet the boys had a blast.

MK, don't overthink the baby decision. Nobody is ever truly prepared when that time comes. I know we weren't but everything just fell into place each time it happened. Things have a way of working out like that.

We love diner food too. Nice simple comfort food.

Some how I totally missed D&D's post about her weekend. Sounds like the family had a blast! Recharged you batteries and gave the kids something to think about. Did they sleep better at night?

JO: So were will you be sleeping?

Ok, here are some random things while I wait for my jelly to gel....I'm making something called Buko pandan salad. Its essentially a coconut salad with almond jello. Pandan is a flavor, colored green as it is a grass and has a slightly minty tinge. Its served cold and is so so refreshing!

While in the airport to leave, I saw Paul Sr. from Orange County Choppers. He's not as big as he looks on tv. The irony is that he lives maybe 25 minutes from me here in NY. They just opened a Choppers restaurant there in Kansas City. Strange, there's not one here. They also have a T-Rex restaurant, the only one other than in Downtown Disney--and it was there first. I guess Kansas is a trial run city?

I've also somehow moved into 3rd place in my fantasy baseball league even WITH a player on the DL...hee hee.

My fantasy World Cup standings did not do so well.

I can't wait for Big Brother to start next week!

I'm going to tell BF that we've as a group decided its time to have a baby.

JO--congrats on the cleanup!

I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that!
