Ok...so here's how my weekend in Kansas went....
I thought since D&D wasn't going to be with me on the plane (sadness...missed you girl!) I'd have an empty seat next to me. Nope. Had some college boy--football size--next to me, who promptly fell asleep and invaded my space. Luckily it was only an hour flight to Detroit.
From Detroit to Kansas city, it was pretty uneventful except for the butterflies in my stomach. BF met me at the airport and we went to dinner and then the casino. Kansas is a really nice area, but it was freakin hot even at 11pm!
We spent the next day with his sister, her husband, and their 3 kids. The girls were pretty much shy, but I had a good time getting to know his sister and BIL. Later that night we had a "date" and went to Dave and Busters for dinner and to play video games.
Sunday was the big one. It was the littlest niece, Elizabeth's birthday party. EVERYONE was there. It was kinda hard to get everyone straight. It was BF's parents, their new spouses, some step-siblings and their children, BF's grandparents. The grandparents were super nice and kind to me. I liked them instantly. I liked his father and his wife--who I felt was a little uncomfortable like me.
Now, the mother. Hmmm....well, she didn't talk to me, but she did say hello. Then again, she didn't talk to BF either. Her boyfriend was pretty nice, although he was glued to the racing scores. I was hoping to talk to her a little bit, but she was definitely stand-offish. It was ok. Its over.
The family didn't stay together long. We had cake and ice cream, sang happy birthday, opened some presents and were out of there. Kinda strange to me.
Afterward, we went to see Toy Story 3. It was so cute! And yes, I cried. We went to this cool think called Fork and Screen. You pay $15/pp, and it includes $8 in food credits. YOu have reserved seating and you press this little button for table service. We got drinks and snacks and enjoyed the movie. We don't have anything like that here.
Overall, it was a good weekend. The drive back was uneventful, except for the fact that the entire state of Pa is under construction I think!

Sorry you had to sit by the big guy!
Hope MIL is back on track soon. Praying for you on the transition.
