TKers...8 is NOT enough!

I thought it was just me being wacky!

I need to ask the expert---My new cell number...I'm getting texts from unwanted people, companies. I think from the last person to have my number. Is there someplace I can call to get it stopped? I'm getting texts from Mandees and other places. Plus I keep getting a call from a charge card company. I have not caught them live recently. I want to answer to tell them it's not who they think. I've wasted time on voice messages from strangers. I could not find out how to delete the message without listening to it. I have Net10 now.

Let me think.....

I've never dealt with Net10 before but as far as most cell companies go, you could text back "stop" to end the text messages. I also think you can just delete text messages without reading them.

If it is the same number calling you for other people, you can call Net10 and ask them to block that number. Explain what is going on and I would think they would do it for free since they are not calling for you.

If you email me what plan you are on with them, I can take a closer look around and see what you can do.

It's no special plan. I just buy a certain amount of time on a card and punch in the number. By a certain date, I have to add more time but I will not loose what I didn't use. When I called to cancel AT&T, they wanted to give me a good deal but I already had the new phone. I did text back but they didn't take me off. I did not ask Net 10 if I can stop the texts I do not want...good idea! I should make up a list of questions for them. Like how to delete voice message without listening to them.

If it is the same number texting you, you can call Net10 and ask them to block it. So far, that's the only fix that I've found.

To check a voice mail without using up your minutes, you can call from your house phone. Dial your number and during the message, hit "*". It should ask for your password. Then you can listen to them without wasting your minutes.

I need to keep searching on how to delete them without listening to them. We have unlimited everything so I've never really thought about what to do with unwanted stuff.

If Net10 has good customer service, I would make a note of the numbers that call/text the most often and give them a call. A pain in the *** but the could probably give you more info than I could.

Thanks. It's only 10 cents a min but it can add up...plus just looking at something I do not want is a pain! I am spoiled with call waiting and ID at home now. I do like my camera in the phone.

What kind of job would you want to do? Since you do not drive, how would that work? I thought you did some internet thing?

The internet thing.....they kept adding new rules and cutting the pay. Not worth it anymore. I love to be one the computer but not for squat pay, you know. Honestly, I'd like to get back out there with other adults. Love being home with the kiddos more than anything but I still miss the adult conversations.

There is a bakery, restaurant, and mini-mart right across the street from us. Most of them have a help wanted sign every couple of weeks/months. Close to us is also a Giant and K-mart with buses running every hour. I know when the right thing comes along, everything will just fall into place. At least that's what I tell myself.

Cell charges can add up quickly especially when it's not you doing the adding. Curt's work cell is like that so I always worry about even calling him on the phone part.

I know I need to watch the phone thing...it seems to be doing ok for me except for the trouble with unwanted texts and voice mails. I was hoping once they knew they were not getting anywhere, it would improve. I guess some of those like from Mandees is just computer generated and cannot get number off.

I'm sure the right job will come along when needed. Change is good. My mom started parttime in retail when I went to jr high...she was actually breaking out in hives from not having enough to do. I wasn't coming home for lunch anymore and a little 5 room apt wasn't very much work for her to do. She's a people person too.

Ok, way weird. Your post came up 2x. Think maybe I need to head to bed because I thought I was replying to your post that didn't post at first. Does that make sense?

Have a good one. If you're going to be on tomorrow night, we got some good Nascar drama to discuss. Bobby Hamilton Jr. and a gun.

I feel better now...I didn't go back to p 199 but I did think it was rather strange for you to answer my question before it appeared! I even checked the times! I didn't check that it would be posted on the other page too!!! :lmao:

Morning!

Another work day. :upsidedow

JO: It's hard getting back into the job thing sometimes. I love subbing because it allows me to be off when the kids are off; Teachers Work Days, vacations, snow days, etc. If they are sick I just call in and let them know that I can't make it for the day. It's the school's problem to get someone to replace me. There is a little guilt there about that but try really hard to make sure I contact someone early enough so that they have time to get someone else. The job I had before I had my first child offered me Mother's hours but that would mean I would still be working during vacations, etc and would need to get a sitter. That would cost money and what little I would be making would just cover that so it wasn't worth it.

M&N: My DH has been looking into the Net10 phones. We really want internet access, camera, etc and so far that is the best deal we can find.

Hello to everyone else! My computer is acting wonky and going back pages is taking too long. I can't remember who posted so a broad hello is what I've got to offer.

Good Morning!

I agree with Pike on subbing. My mom will be retiring next year (she's pre-k/k teacher) and she's considering subbing to keep her busy. She's also taking her dog to training to be one of the dogs who goes into schools for children to read to. She's very excited about that. Her principal let her take Minnie to school one day, and there was a phenomenal difference in one of her children. The boy was terrified of any dog, but when he left for the day, he gave Minnie a big hug. His mom was blown away. Minnie made quite a difference in a short amount of time for him.

As for me, I'm still pregnant, but I don't want to be. We let the kids decorate this year because I'm too uncomfortable to deal with it. They had a wonderful time and are very proud. We don't have up the volume of decorations I usually put up, but there's nothing wrong with keeping things simple. I love it all. :goodvibes

Good morning! December arrived with a roar! Its rainy and windy out there. Too warm for the white stuff though....woo-hoo!

Kerrie...you hang in there. Only 8 more days until Ev's and my birthday and new baby arrival! Just rest up and enjoy the season.

It also means I have 17 days until cousin arrives. Wrapping gifts last night, I realized that I have cousins named Ronald on each side as well as an uncle (the younger Rons are not named after him, he arrived later). Still have no idea what to do with him.

My friend Ivy, who went to Atlantic City with me, has not made it to Samoa yet. She missed her connecting flight and they can't get her to Samoa until tomorrow. So where is she stuck for 4 days? Hononlulu Hawaii! Tough break, right? And Delta is putting her up and giving her food vouchers. That's the greatest scam ever!

My sister bought me my blu-ray player for my birthday! It should arrive sometime next week. So excited!

I swear, the people at my Walmart are already tired of the holidays and it shows. I went there last night to pick up the new Disney discs out. I wanted to price match it to the Target ad...Target was 2 and 5 dollars cheaper. Whoa, was it too much for the cashier and the manager! First, I had to show them the ad, the ad's date, and the product. Then they had to price adjust. Then I gave them my Disney coupons. The manager was quick to say that they don't take coupons. So I take out the print out from the website that says the Walmart DOES accept coupons and I told them that I had used similar coupons before, so please try to scan it. They took it.

So I got both Fantasia and the Sorcerer's Apprentice for about $18. Well worth the hassle, but really, its the middle of the day on a Tuesday weeks before Christmas. It wasn't that hard. I can't imagine the "holiday spirit" in the upcoming weeks....

oh! That's my dryer buzzing....let's have a good day everyone!

Afternoon! The weather sucks here right now. Super windy and rainy. But at least it's not snowing. Which it is where Curt is. His bosses made him leave early to go back but never bothered to check the weather forecast. He's now spent 2 days sitting in the hotel room What a complete waste.

Kerrie, so the little one is being stubborn already. Is that a sign of things to come? The crossing guard at our old school trained dogs both for helping reading in school and as general assistance dogs. Livvie and Alexis got to work with the reading dog a few times. They absolutely loved it.

MK, what a place to be "stranded". I would love for that to happen. Of course, I guess I should fly first. :lmao:

Pikester, I'm not worried about the childcare thing. Jackie will be old enough to look after the girls if needed. As long as I can find something where I start after they get on the bus, we should be good. Who knows, maybe I'll find something just while the kids are in school.

Kerrie--You really do not have to hold out til their bday. Whenever you have it, it will be somebody else's bday! Glad the other kids are a help. Memories of tree decorating are great family traditions.

That's a deal you missed out on Kitty...hope she was able to enjoy it and not worry about getting to Samoa by a certain date.

I enjoy subbing too...I just do not get it too often since I only go for the librarians. I can hardly squeeze in regular stuff being retired!

I took my adopted mom (friend's mom who lives near me) to get blood work in the rain this am. My mom woke up and 'couldn't hear' this am. So she's got a dr appointment tomorrow afternoon...it's ok now but I told her she's going to the dr anyway! I have a dentist tomorrow so I will pick her up at the hair salon at JCP and do lunch and go. I'm meeting a friend to go to a Christmas gift show at the Farm Show building in Harrisburg. It's a tradition. I was eating at home tonight but a friend called so...why stay home? Friday afternoon I sub and eat out with friends that night! Next week only has 2 days filled so far! Please do not wonder when I will get the house cleaned, decorations outside, or cards written!

If the baby doesn't come on her own, she'll be evicted on Dec. 14. My last one was 3 weeks early, so I truly did not expect to still be pregnant by Dec.

MK, being stuck in Hawaii sounds wonderful.

M&N, I hope your mom's hearing is fine. You sound so busy. I'm doing next to nothing lately. I just don't feel like doing much.

JO, that sucks about your DH just sitting in the hotel room. Hurry up and wait.

oh, Kerrie sorry that the little one is taking her own sweet time! Nice that you have an evacuation plan though! I guess she'll tell you when she's ready to make an appearance! You don't have to do anything right yet...you'll be plenty busy when she arrives.

The rain has finally stopped. It was one heck of a day though. Too much scary wind out there. Today was supposed to be the worst of it. My sister up in Rochester is expecting significant snow though.

I have to mystery shop tonight. They called earlier. If they have a deadline, like tonight, they pay more. I figure for a few minutes of my time I could do it--I was in the mood for ice cream anyway. Better to be paid for it! And after all the cyber shopping I've been doing, I need to pad my wallet any way I can.

JO--there's no chance of DH just coming home? It is such a waste of his time just sitting in a hotel room. Ugh.

My M you're busy! Hope Mom's hearing gets better, but its a good thing you were able to get her an appointment right away. You're so popular! All those other things will wait, just have a great time when you can!

Evening,

I see the weather stinks all over the place today. Our wind chill is supposed to get down to 0 tonight.

And we got some snow today. The kids are really excited about that.

Kitty - Being stuck in Hawaii right now sounds heavenly!!!:cloud9: Lucky friend. Enjoy your mystery shopping tonight.

Kerrie - I think you need to have "relations" a little more often to get that baby moving. :rolleyes1 Work for my DS;)

M&N - you sure are busy. Glad you are taking some time to enjoy yourself though. The other stuff can wait.

JO - I agree w/ you. The right job will come along and you will just know it. Everything has a way of falling into place - all in good time.

Sukie - I forgot to write and thank you for the nice Thanksgiving card. That was so nice of you.

Hello to everyone else. STay warm and dry.

So now the Space Shuttle has been rescheduled to go off on my birthday. It's fate I tell ya!!!! I just have to go to Florida in 2 weeks - right????
