TKers...8 is NOT enough!

I would hazard a guess that a 20-something guy wants to drink beer and look at pretty girls. I am NOT taking him to a girly bar though. He's on his own for that.

I would do tobogganing with him. I may ask my younger nephew about it. He does all that wintery-stuff.

The cousins all spent our vacations together growing up. It was just when we got into high school and college that we stopped seeing each other. Other than that, we were closer than cousins despite the age difference. There was 5 of us altogether. With my sister, we're hoping to get 4 out of 5 together this Christmas. The other cousin doesn't fly--so he's stuck in Vancouver...

JO---you need a nap!

Nothing cyber-Monday for me either. Still not warm enough to go outside. But I have to go to the bank, so I have to get out there soon!

Victory is mine!

So I was determined to battle DirecTv today. I did my homework to find out what other deals fellow Cheapies were getting. I checked out what Dish Network was offering. Game on!

Boy, did DirecTv play hardball. Had me explain my issues to three different people. Was absolutely ready to cancel my service coz they PO'd me so much. No loyalty to their long term customers! Finally, got a wonderful man who gave me what I wanted...

To top it off I finally found something good on Cyber Monday! Target has select tv series and blu-rays 2 for $16. Got four seasons of Battlestar Gallactica and Gone with the Wind on Blu-ray for $51 shipped plus 3% back from ebates!

Was there any doubt? :worship:

Since we give gift cards most of our gifts are done. Just our moms and DD. Usually give restaurant GCs to our moms but my mom gave up her car so she uses the bus (that the facility provides) or granddaughter (who has the car).

I'm no help with 20 yo guys..still don't understand 50 yo guys. :confused3

I give gift cards to the two kids in college. Mostly to get groceries and restaurants and stuff. You never have enough money in college. Some restaurants lately have offered bonus gc if your purchase a certain amount.

I'll never figure out guys, no matter what the age. But I do love them, so I guess I have to put up with them.....

I had to push my luck. I went to Radio Shack to try to get my blu-ray player. Its advertised, but no one has it. The guy was really nice and tried to order it for me, but apparently even the warehouses have no stock. He seems to think they advertised it before they actually had the item.

So I went to Walmart. They were going to price match it, but then the cashier opened his mouth and found a manager who shot me down. Darn. I'll just have to wait to find it. I still have hope. Cyber Monday isn't over yet!

Kitty - I'm with DL55 - :worship: You da queen of bargaining!!!!

I had a similar issue at Target yesterday. Bought a DS game on Friday (along with other things) for a total of $140. You had to spend $100 to get a $10 gift card and it said they would adjust your gift card if you returned anything that was not part of the qualifying price $100. So in Sunday's ad the DS game goes on sale for $8 less than what I paid for it. I take it for a price adjustment thinking I am still way over the $100 qualifying price for the GC so no biggie right? Wrong. They were gonna stiff me cuz I was asking for a price adjustment. I had to end up talking w/ the manager and explain that I was still over the 100 dollar limit. AFter about 10min she finally gave it to me.

D&D, what internet browser do you use? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome? I know both firefox and Chrome have a free extension you can download to get rid of the ads on web pages but I haven't used IE for years so I'd have to look. But I don't see why they wouldn't too.

We use IE but I HATE it. It is so slow and locks constantly. :sad2: Any good suggestions on a better browser? Are Firefox and Chrome free?

MK is my hero too...have one of those 50 year olds...don't understand him either. :confused3

Hi everyone, Walter is having a very rough night teething, so I will be back as soon as I can to elaborate more, but we had a wonderful time, Walter loved it, and I can't wait to go back.

Ohhh poor little Walter. Give him a big ol' hug for me.

Hi everyone!

David went to the Samsung website and got my Mom one that already had WiFi installed (VERY IMPORTANT or you'll have to buy and $80 adapter). He got hers for $159 delivered. Target advertised today one that needed an adapter for $139. David is the Technophile and we love our Samsungs.

Also,
I used http://printable-coupons.blogspot.com/
yesterday and got GC from Restraunt.com for 80% off.
I got all DD's teachers GC's to the nicest French restraunt in our area. They are all young-marrieds so, I thought a nice meal at a non-chain would be nice.
You gotta check out the Restraunts site they mentioned. Promo code: SAVE
a friend told me about it months ago and we even used one Saturday night. My FIL wanted to take us all out to his/our favorite place. Before we walked in I gave him one and he was so pleased. My friend always gets them ahead before she goes to NYC to use.
Yesterday I got $100.00 worth of GC for $8.00. :woohoo:

I also printed out JoAnns and Kirkland's coupons too. Maybe tomorrow, when I'm hyper, I'll finish. I only have 2 more gifts to buy. Not bad. :-)

Hugs for Walter. I hope he feels better soon.

D&D, I gave up on IE because of the same problems. After that I switched to Firefox and it was much better. But Chrome is my favorite. I find it to be faster with my computer compared to the other 2. Both Firefox and Google Chrome are free to download. Once one is downloaded, you can just look for extensions to add to the browser, like the ad-blocker. There are tons to add for all different things.

I actually have all 3 browsers on my computer but will go with Chrome before any of the others.

I'm way too excited to sleep. I've been trying to figure out what else to get for Jackie for Christmas. We went and got her a new phone on Friday. Touchscreen with WiFi at 1/2 off from Radio Shack. It's her big gift this year but of course, she's using it now. Her old one froze up and she's been saving her own money for this one for a while.

Anyways, I was at a complete loss at what else to get her. She'll get the customary make-up, lotions, girly stuff that she gets every year. She knows all that stuff so it's not really a surprise. I was reading the budget board tonight and someone started a thread about what are you getting your 14 year old daughter.

Someone suggested getting a new purse and wallet and filling the wallet with small gift cards to places where she hangs out at. I hate giving gift cards to the kids even though that is what Jackie would prefer. I like the whole opening gifts part, you know. But this would still give her something else to open and keep her happy too. Why didn't I ever think of this myself. :headache:

I'm thinking a couple of $5 cards to Starbucks, one to cover the cost of a movie, maybe McDonald's (she loves their fries). Maybe just a small general gift card to the mall for when she's shopping and sees a deal she just can't pass up.

Now that sounds like a good idea!:thumbsup2

When my sister and I got older my Mom would buy all that little stuff, lotions, perfume, jewelry, cassette tapes (old or what!), etc and wrap each one. Then she put them in a box and would wrap that. Took forever to unwrap and it felt like we had a lot.

Good afternoon! Gray and dreary here. Kinda raining. Too warm for real snow right now. Maybe later, probably tomorrow. Oh well.

I am also a fan of the unwrapping part. I just wrapped a body wash for my cousin. its just nice to have all the mess, the passing of the gifts. My brother always gets me gift cards, and while its appreciated, I wish he's mix it up a bit and have me unwrap something! I just feel like I'm missing out a bit by not having to tear into some paper.

JO--I like the idea of a wallet with lots of little goodies. At that age, they're always running around with friends anyway.

The last little gift I need to get is for my 15 year old niece. She's pretty savvy with the makeup and hair, so I'm going to head to Sephora and see what holiday gift sets they have available. With her, I'm pretty much done with everyone!

Bopsmom...thanks for the info re:blu-ray player. I'm still hunting the one I want. I want to get a Samsung coz the tv is Samsung and I want them to talk to each other. I know there's some technical term for it, but that's the way I understand it. I also want the wi-fi one coz I know there are updates periodically and I don't want to have to buy that adaptor either.

I just found out that the little Sears near me doesn't carry it but I can order and pay for it there and then I can get it in a few days. Its not a real store--carries mostly appliances but you can order and have it shipped for free there.

I'd like to get the blu-ray player before the DirecTv guy comes (I hope they send a cute one for my birthday!) so he can show me how to set things up.

Its still so yucky out there though. Debating going to get Fantasia on DVD too....did anyone get it yet?

LITC--hope Walter is feeling better! Probably too much excitement for him the last few days!

Evening! Getting ready to watch the Christmas specials tonight. The girls said we are going to watch the Grinch and Shrek the Halls instead of Rudolph. So I guess we'll tape Rudolph and watch it later tonight.

Hey---Glad LITC reported in...didn't realize she was 'sick'...(of work!) We need some Walter pics!

Sounds like many are almost ready for Christmas...not even Dec yet! I have to get the pumpkins in the garbage this week and get the swags and wreaths up. I bought some solar candy canes for out front. I saw a lighted gingerbread man at Walgreens but it wasn't on sale and I just could not buy it yet! Hope they still have them when sale time comes.

I watched the lighting of the tree in NYC...forgot about Shrek! I think I have the dvd though. Isn't there a new one out about Donkey?

Kitty---I really do not like Fantasia...at least not all of it...I get bored! I like the brooms part the best I think.

M....you're not the only one who's not ready for Christmas. I've pretty much decided what I need to get but just haven't gotten around to getting it. Thankfully, my kids have never been the type to ask for the "must have" toy of the season.

I typed a reply on fb but it would not post...aol didn't cut off though. then I could not get this to refresh or go to another page so I quit aol and started again???
Anyway--hope I'm ok now!
So what is the must have toy this year?

Really, I have no idea what the must have toy is this year. I really try to get what they really want even if it isn't the coolest thing around.

Our internet has been wacky lately. I think it's because of everyone being off for the holiday.
