Evening! I still haven't packed but I did clean almost the whole house today. And all the laundry is done thanks to Curt. Tomorrow I just have to get the bags together and we're off.

Pikester, I agree with everyone esle.....check the exact dates of the reviews. If it still doesn't sound good, you have plenty of time to find somewhere else. No need to worry yet.

Morning! Cold and rainy here. Started last night with some really crazy weather. They're actually calling for a Nor'Easter on Thursday. Ack!

JO...you and the family have a safe trip and a wonderful time. Lots and lots of pictures and give big hugs to you and D's family!

So my cousin has decided he'd like to visit in December. I haven't seen him in 8 years, but he's totally welcome. And it will be nice to have him visit for Christmas/New Years. But he wants to go into the city, and its going to be cold! He's from Vancouver, and if you remember the Olympics, they don't really get a lot of snow...so his visit will definitely be interesting for him. He wants to to be in Times Square for New Years....he's on his own for that. I did it once, I think everyone should, but unless its a balmy 72 degrees that night, I am not standing around for hours in the cold!

Today is my sister's birthday. Happy birthday Sis!

ok, so I don't have kids, so I may be late to the table but...I just discovered the Fisher Price Little People line. I just ordered the Nativity scene and I LOVE IT! It comes with the Wise men and their camels, but that's on my list...and I want the Bethelehem scene. Its getting kinda pricey, but it is adorable.

Morning! Icky and rainy here too. And we have the same forecast for a Nor'Easter too. I am so tired of the rain we've had lately.

MK, we had tons of Little People toys here at one time. Livvie would just play with them for hours and hours. We had the Noah's Ark, Castle, Pirate Ship, House, and something else. And a bunch of the figures. The are wonderful toys that have lasted for years.

I always say I'd like to go to NY on New Year's Eve but I don't think I could handle the crowds. Disney in the summer is bad enough so that would totally put me on edge.

How wonderful your cousin wants to come and visit. What a great way to make the holidays even more special.

I want the Noah's Ark too! They are just adorable and now I'm on a mission...

It'll be fun to have my cousin around, and while I don't mind being a host, I do hope the weather cooperates and I can take him around (well covered of course).

What time are you guys leaving? Did you finally get everything packed? Are you excited?

We are leaving around 6am tomorrow. And no, I haven't packed a thing yet. But I did clean almost the whole house yesterday so that is done. Can't leave without cleaning.

Every now and then I want to buy sets of Little People that we don't have....the figurines that is. I forgot, we use to have an airplane that came with a pilot and a flight attendant.

I had the Weeble Wobbles as a child, but I'm more into dolls so I never ventured to that part of the toy section. I'm going to have to check them out. I love the idea of having a Little People Christmas Village. Amazon has an older set that I like too, but its nearly $70. You know I need to get it on sale.

The one I ordered from Family Christian stores came to $22 with shipping, so I'm so excited to receive it.

Wait, is that the sun coming out? I have to go to the bank and post office today and still have to choose appropriate footwear....

You can get all your kids ready and out of the house by 6am? You're super mom! I know when I was a teenager, the only way I saw that hour was if I stayed up all night...

Oh! I spoke to a girlfriend last night, someone I hadn't spoken to in ages. But she's one of those, that once we start talking, its like we had seen each other just yesterday. We went to school together and now she's engaged! To a guy that we also went to school with, someone she's always remained friends with, but a few years ago it just clicked.

I admit, I started crying when she told me. I am so happy for her. We're of the same age and have the same family concerns, so I'm inspired! I already told BF we're going to a wedding next July. I have to give him enough notice so he can't back out. It'll be his first Filipino wedding, so I think it'll be good practice for him.

What a trip to the shore! The weather was beautiful. We had the penthouse at the hotel---10th floor. We kept that from our moms as a surprise…they were curious but were very surprised when we took them up there. It was a great place for us to stay. The view was wonderful. We could go on the roof and see all around Ocean City.
We went to Cape May the afternoon we arrived…just walked around and went to Sunset Beach but didn’t stay for the sunset because it was too long to wait and we felt it would not be that great. We ate at the Lobster House and we all had leftovers for lunch the next day. Besides we had to get back and watch the Phillies!
Thursday morning we walked down on the beach. We saw some monarch butterflies there. We had some bread left from breakfast and fed the sea gulls. Boy did they appear from nowhere. There was one and suddenly at least 12-15! They were catching the bread before it hit the ground. We didn’t walk too far down but the mom’s loved it. After our leftovers, we went to the Cape May zoo. It was a great day to walk around…not too crowded and not too hot.
We wanted to see the sunset from the roof so we waited to go for pizza. Now comes the bad part. After getting off the elevator, there are about 6 steps down to the door to leave the hotel. Mom was the first one out and she started down the steps but apparently didn’t get the first step and ended up at the bottom of the steps on her back with a leg on the step…her eyes were closed when I saw her…talk about your heart pounding…I just could not believe what I was seeing…so afraid. My friend is a nurse…she went down and called mom’s name and she opened her eyes. She said her legs and arms were ok…she said she was not feeling dizzy. Sharon put her arm behind mom’s shoulder to help her sit up but there was a pool of blood under her head. The lady behind the desk was asking if she should call 911 but she got us some towels and called the ambulance for us. Sharon had pressure on mom’s head. When they got there, they felt there were no broken bones but felt she needed stitches. We had them take her in the ambulance. They helped her up and held pressure to her head. She walked down 6 more steps outside the hotel and got on the stretcher. Sharon went with her in the ambulance. I knew she would be much better with the medical things. I had driven and I knew she doesn’t like night driving and she’s never driven my Jeep. I took her mom with me. The poor lady is almost 89. She was right behind mom when she fell. She said she just felt so helpless and wished she could have done something.
We were at the ER about 1 hr 30 min. They put 3 staples in her head, gave her a cat scan, 2 chest x-rays, an ekg, and a tetanus shot. She had a pain in the center of her chest and had a sore shoulder. They bandaged her head and I told her that would make a good costume. She walked---slowly---but she walked out of there! I know it was a miracle. The lady behind the desk of the hotel could not believe it. She saw her fall.
That night, mom slept in the room that had a sleeper sofa but she sat up. There was a big ottoman there. We put a pillow behind her head. She got up 2 times ---it was maybe 10 steps to the bathroom in my room. She even slept good she said. We checked on her several times. Sharon told her she has always wanted to see the sunrise but not because she was checking on mom. Mom had gone back to sleep. There was some blood on the pillow but we thought it was not too much and seemed to have stopped. She did have 2 other scratches on her head too.
That morning, we went down and got muffins and bagels for breakfast to eat in the room. We had fruit and cereal bars and yogurt too so we had a leisurely time getting ready to check out at 11. Sharon and I washed more blood out of her hair. She said she did not have a headache at all. She still had the pain in her chest when she moved or coughed/ sneezed.
Sharon’s husband came and met us for lunch. He was getting Sharon’s things…they were staying until Monday but not in the penthouse.
So the 3 of us started home. Mom did good. It was hard for her to get in and out of the Jeep. She could not move her left shoulder much but didn’t think it was really broken because when she cracked it before she could not move her arm or fingers at all. She did good over the weekend too. More bruises appeared and changed colors. I have to help her get dressed but she’s trying. We got her to her doctor on Monday. He said she probably cracked some ribs. He gave her pain pills. She thinks it should be better right away. The staples come out on Friday. She’s been sleeping in her recliner and tried the bed last night but it was way too painful. I’m going back this afternoon to be with her. Her doctor told her at least 4 times how lucky she was. Just stop and think of all the might haves and you will know that God was not ready for her yet! And I am so thankful!

Qualifying is Thurs...don't forget your picks before going away...Have fun JO and D&D! Need pics....

Kitty: Fingers crossed for the job opportunity. It will put a crimp in the travel for sure. I had an opportunity to apply for a job but didn't do it.

Never too many Walter pics...just love seeing how he's growing---all those teeth now!

Yeah for Universal! I'll see where it is when I go if I get down IDrive. I can ask my friend about the area.

Hey DL55---are you home for a while?

I'll probably be at mom's til next week so not sure if I'll make it back here...miss chatting...

Oh M! How scary! Thank goodness Mom is okay! I cannot even imagine how terrifying it must have been for all of you. And thank the Lord that it wasn't worse. Prayers out to both of you....now take it easy and no more excitement!

I'm a big dork. I finally found something on the Disney Movie Rewards that I wanted--a Beauty and the Beast keepsake box. So I cashed in my points for it. Then I noticed that my auto-fill had put my county down instead of state! I sent them a frantic email (couldn't find a phone number) about correcting my address. I hope they can help me!

Now I'm a little nervous. I've been reading reviews about the Econo Lodge that I have booked for the two nights before we stay at Universal. It's located at 8738 International Drive, Orlando. Half the people say it's clean, friendly staff, clean pool, decent rooms for the price, great location to parks and then other half say the rooms are smelly, damp carpet, rude staff, bug infested. Now what?
We stayed at an Econo Lodge outside of Atlanta on our way to Disney - Not good. Sorry Pike! Pretty dumpy. Now maybe others are okay, but I'm thinking those reviewers aren't far off.
Have you tried the Orlando Vista Inn? http://www.resideo.com/us/florida/orlando/21314802.hotel It is right outside of DTD and usually has cheap rates <100. Gets a 3.9. Just a thought.

Happy B-day Kitty's sister!!!
Yay that your cousin is coming to visit!!!New Years Eve in Times Square would be sooo awsome. I have to do that sometime.

I love Fisher Price Little People. I have collected all the old stuff (when I was small) and the new stuff. It is my toy collection.
My kids have the nativity set (not FP but so cute) and the Noah's Ark

M&N :scared1: So glad your mom is okay. She'll be different colors for weeks. :3dglasses Only in the ER for 1 and a half hours? That is a miracle also. My mom fell at Disneyland and got a big bump on her head that turned into a black eye (took a month to fade). She showed me a picture of her on Splash Mt. She looks like someone really decked her. :rotfl:
Less than a month before we go to Hawaii. :) We are still waiting for the condo owner to send info (directions and how to pick up the keys). :headache:
MagiKitty The closest I'll ever be to Times Square on New Years Eve is turning on the TV. :rotfl2: Cold and crowded..my two least liked conditions.

Siding people came yesterday and today.:yay:
They are about 75% finished now. Looks good, but I am not sure they covered all the holes w/ new insulation board and I think they missed a spot up near the roof. They claim they didn't forget about the roof part and that they patched the holes, however I am not so sure I believe them. I didn't see them do it and I was home all afternoon. :headache: Since it is already covered, I'll have to take their word for it now.
Otherwise all is going well. Big dumpster in the driveway and tons of junk all over the yard.
Sorry JO...house won't be very presentable. But we're still very excited to see ya in a few days. :woohoo:

M&N - So sorry to hear about your mom's accident. How scary!! Can't imagine how terrified you must have been seeing her like that.
Will pray for her speedy recovery.

Yeah! Congrats on the siding, D!

Woo-hoo on Hawaii DL! Sounds awesome! I'm so jealous but happy for your special anniversary trip...

I've already been forewarning cousin that I am not a good housekeeper and that the house is in a constant state of disarray. He says he's cool with it, and as a 20-something male, I really don't think he cares. Its a place to crash and its free, so what is going to complain about?

 Yay for Hawaii!!! Would love to go there some day. Been hinting to DH to take me there for a major anniversary. He has about 2 years to plan. ;)

OMG! I just made it to the second phase of the Mickey Moms Panel! I have to submit more materials, but I've never made it past the initial phase before!

D&DDisney :cheer2: on the siding. Too bad I watch Holmes on Homes because I wouldn't trust the contractors either. If your DH is a typical male..stop hinting and just tell him you want to go to Hawaii for your major anniversary (and hope for no more tornadoes ). ;)

MagiKitty Congrats on getting to the second phase. How many more to go?

I had to go rescue a toad that DH dug up while removing a bush. His excuse was he didn't want to squish it.
