My sister and I are torn on whether to use TIW or DDP when we take our parents for their anniversary in December. No matter what, my family will be using TIW as it will save us about $400 vs getting DDP. But do all members of the party have to be on or off DDP? Can some of us use TIW and some be on DDP?

Also, can an adult order off the kid's menu?

TIA!!!

1. Normally all people on a reservation must have the same entitlements.

2. At a meal, there is no problem mixing TiW and DDP. Let the server know in advance, and the DDP will have one (or more) check and TiW will have its own check.

3. There is no restriction about an adult ordering from the child menu. This only applies to quick service and menu service. For buffets or other all-you-can-eat locations this does not work.

I tried the dining plan in 2010 and won't do it again (will stick with TIW card). I'm a salad or appetizer type person and rarely order entrees. Salads and appetizers are not part of the dining plan. The only place it worked for me was at buffets.

Will your parents be in their own room? If so, they can get the DDP and you don't have to. You may have to make two separate reservations, but they can be "linked" so you are likely to be together. (You may also be able to make 1 reservation, 2 rooms, different options for each room, but I don't know. We've never used the DDP so it's never been an issue.)
