TIW vs DDP...for DVC

Due to our eating habits, not ordering alcohol and the number in our family, we find that paying out of pocket works best for us.

Also with TiW, I wonder why Artist Pallette is included but not other quick service locations at DVC resorts.

Because Disney has always been lousy at updating this list.

Artist Palate was included because SSR didn't have a sit down location when the TiW began (as the DDE, of course). Same with the CS restaurants at AK (which did have the RFC, but that didn't take the TiW). Now both those locations have TS places, but the lists have never been updated to reflect them.

I'd pay them a little more if they just threw in all the restaurants on property.

...One thing I read was to put what you would have paid for the DDP on a Disney Gift Card and that way it is prepaid but you can order how you want and whatever is left over can be used for something fun at the end.

This is a great idea that I have heard before, with the only exception being to use a Visa\Mastercard so that any money left over can be used anywhere as opposed to being confined to a Disney purchase.

We did *free* DDP in 2007 when it came with the appetizers and tip and found it to be a good deal. We did end up with over 30 snack credits but used them on all sorts of fun goodies for teachers etc...back when the snack credits could be used for a lot more than they can now. We also wasted an unG-dly amount of food which I didn't like. :guilty:

In 2009, we did the DDP during a split stay, apps and tip removed, and found it not nearly the good deal but we wasted less which is a good thing.

This year we'll be getting the TiW card. I have a feeling it will be a much better fit.

Yes, if all counter service was included we would probably get one.
