Can I pay the price difference to add my wife to an existing tiw membership? I'm not looking to change the expiration date, but we might not be together at all meals our next trip.

You can purchase a membership for as little as:

  • $175 for Florida Residents
  • $150 for Walt Disney World Resort Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members
Plus, add a second membership for your spouse or partner for only $50 more! You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase.

I get that but can I pay 50 bucks to upgrade my existing membership to add a second member.

The only reason to do that would be if she will be dining there without you. Each card is good for up to 10 people.
Whether correct or not, my wife has been able to use our card on trips when I wasn't there.

Yes; that’s pretty much what the post quoted said.

Definitely not the experience others have. I’ve been carded with every use, as expected.

I've rarely been carded when using our TiW cards, no matter what resturant we eat at. I was surprised that she was able to use the card, but had no trouble the entire week.

I am carded all the time. My wife has been unable to use my card in the past when she is not with me if she does not have my id; however, if I give her my TiW card and my id then they have always let her use my card.

In 2017, the answer to the question was yes. We did just that. I bought the card in Oct. Extended family decided to come the following spring unexpectedly and since my wife was going to some meals without me and some of them we added her for $50 in April 2018. Im pretty confident its the same this year as well. And yes we were both carded especially at the meals when there was 4 or more. With just the two of us they rarely card us.

IT IS NOT UPGRADING your membership. It getting an additional card for a household member. if you are looking for a YES or NO answer. Then, YES. Sorry i thought my response was clear.

You are like the only person ever to have that experience. I've had TiW for 3 years and not one single time have I not been required to show my ID when using the card. My DH has never been able to use the card. This is not something anyone should count on happening, that's for certain. Though great it's been happening for you
