TiW (renewal) and PAP+ activation timing...

Hi there - we bought 2 sets of PAP+ last year when they had the DVC deal. Our current PAP have expired, and our TiW expires 8/31.

We are planning a last minute short trip in September, and will need to link and activate our second set of APs and renew our TiW. I'd rather not have to spend the time at WDW getting this all sorted out, as we are getting in close to midnight and have an early breakfast reservation the next morning where we will need TiW.

Q: our 2d set of APs are already showing up in MDE. Do I need to wait for the current ones to expire before assigning the new ones? And once they are assigned, do I still need to activate them?

Q: renewal or purchase of new TiW - is there any difference? Since our current TiW expires 8/31, our new ones, whether they're bought in advance or at the time we get there (early Sept) would go until 9/30/19, right? In that case - any recommendations on whether purchasing by mail/online is preferable? We've always done it at the parks before, but would like to save some time this time. (also, if one way leads to expiration 8/31/19 and another to 9/30/19, I'd probably opt for 9/30/19 even though we have no current plans to go in September, because why not.)

Q: anything else I'm missing?

No issue assigning the renewals to the correct profiles. If you renewed by phone (only way DVC Passes can be renewed) the renewals MUST be activated before usages.

TiW does not offer renewals. You just purchase a new card when needed.

Thanks!

We didn't renew the PAP+ - we bought 2 sets for the family that were both showing up on MDE. I think the previous ones must have expired, as the current ones are now showing assigned to the correct people with an option to "reassign ticket" which I think means these are the new ones that haven't been used, right?

I just looked at TiW - looks like we'll have to buy on site because it takes 3-4 weeks to get the card if ordering by phone, and that's cutting it too close. (Kicking myself for not planning ahead more)

Correct. Once used, the 'reassign' option will go away.

Stop at any Guest Relations Location at WDW. They can activate the APs and sell you a TiW Card.

Park Ticket Windows can activate the APs, but they can't sell TiW cards.

As to TIW, when you go in mid-Sep and purchase a new card, it will expire October 31, 2019. Buy a TIW card any day of a month at WDW and it will be good until the last day of the following month the next year.

Thanks!

Nope. Please, CALL TIW. Let them know when you plan on being at WDW. They can ship a card in 7-8 days, using "expedited shipping". To boot? You will get a PLASTIC card. Ask your servers about the difference :).

The REAL TIW crew is fantastic. They WORK with you to maximize your benefit. Over 12 years? These folks have done nothing but GOOD for us. I even tried to PAY them for "expedited shipping".... Nope, they just did it :). This group has got to be our absolute FAVORITE WDW Service Organization :).

Thank you! This will be our 3rd year - I will give them a call. We are getting in super late and then have a pre park open breakfast on a short trip, so it would be nice to have one thing squared away!

Done! Thanks, @Dean Marino!!

Grin :). Now that you have connected with this WONDERFUL group? No future issues :).

But you now have an obligation.... every time you present a PLASTIC TIW card, to a server, they are going to ask "how did you GET this? THESE are the ones that WORK!". Pass on the data :).

the PLASTIC TIW card arrived yesterday - wow. Very nice. It's like DVC 1br - once you have the plastic card, there's no going back to the Tyvek. Thanks for the info!!

Also funny - I was putting together our packing list and DH goes, "Don't forget that Beauty and the Beast restaurant discount card thingy!"
