We are going in November and already have the regular dining plan decided on. But while there in November we plan to get AP's because we have another trip booked for March 2014. My question is this if we get the TIW card in March can we use it for our next trip tentatively planned for January 2015 even if we don't still have an AP then? I didn't know if you just needed the AP to buy the card or of you have to have it to use it later in the year.

The card has an expiration date, so you can use it until it expires. Keep in mind DVC members can now purchase a TIW card without purchasing an AP so you shouldn't have any problems.

You only need either an AP or DVC Member Card to purchase the TiW card for $100. You are not required to show either of those to use the card.

Thank you! I must have read that somewhere and forgot about it. Good news for us!

I think I will try it especially since we can use it for two trips. Makes it more worthwhile for sure. Where do I buy the card?

Also, if you purchase the TIW card after March 1, 2014 it is valid until April, 2015.

That is good to know too. Because our next decision after our March trip will be if we plan to go back again the following March or January instead. Same decision for this year. Hubby wanted to go in January - I wanted to try March. We decided to try it this year and if we found it too busy - then we would plan January the next year. But, if its not too bad, I think I will prefer March - better weather and also the Flower and Garden Festival. Either way nice to know that the card will work longer than I thought. Now, I need to do some research as to where we can use it.....

I beileve it's good for 13 months from 1st use..... Or maybe purchase...We did it when we went to MK & upgraded our 8 day tickets from UT to DVC AP's & then we purchased the TiW for $75....I think that was DVC price, but has since changed to 100 for both DVC & Ap's..

The validity is the remainder of the current month plus 13 full months.

I just had another idea. Our reservation is actually a"linked one" . We have three nights with one contract and three with another. MS we wouldn't need to change rooms. But since they are two different ressie numbers, maybe I will get the dining plan with the the second half of the ressie. The first night we don't get into MCO until 8:15 so we wouldn't make any dinner ressie at all. We can just pay out of pocket and eat lighter those three days and skip the TIW card. I think that might be our best bet for this trip.

I called MS this morning and was told this can not be done. The only way is if they unlink our reservation. Then we can add the dining plan to part of our stay but we would most likely have to move rooms. I am going to try the TIW card.

I had an AP that went 3/2012-3/2013. I didn't purchase TiW until 7/2012. We went back in 8/2013. The TiW, a separate card, was good thru 8/2013, even though my original AP was no longer in effect. At no time using TiW was I asked for an AP.
