I cannOt BELIEVE I goofed up. My DH and I bought one Tables in Wonderland card last December and are planning to use it on our trip that starts this Friday. My whole family is going on this trip, son, daughter, son-in-law, 3 grandkids and DH and me. We plan on using DH's Amex card for dining expenses. Only thing is...I just checked the TIW card and it is in MY name!!! YIKES!!! Would he be able to pay the bill? If NOT, my other thought is can we just charge the meals to our KTTW card? His Amex could be linked to that if need be. I am stressing right now, thought the TIW card was in HIS name! What can I do?

The written rule is that the cardholder must be present, and the cardholder must be the one to pay for the discounted check.

That doesn't always happen in practice (in my experience it's pretty rare that they enforce the "must be the cardholder's credit card" thing) but you shouldn't be too surprised if it does happen.

Yes, you can charge to the room and pay it off with his card. Unless you're at the Swan/Dolphin, they don't take Disney room charges.

PP is correct about cardholder being the one to pay. Some CMs are strict about this and some others are not. Either way, those are the rules.
Therefore, the way to do this is to charge the meals to your KTTW card and then use hubby's AmEx back at the resort to pay the room charges. If you were planning on using the AmEx at restaurants for some sort of rebate or bonus points, it probably won't work under this scenario.

I don't remember a time they didn't let DH pay when the card was in my name (and we have different last names). But if they didn't we would just do the room charge. Don't freak out. It'll be OK as long as he can put the room charging on that same amex.

Thank you all for your help. I am relaxing now! We'll just charge to the KTTW card, his Amex will be the card on that. Phew! We leave Friday, and don't want any problems. Thanks for your advice.

On our trip in October, we used the TIW card. Everytime we used it, they compared the name on the card to the name on the card being used to pay. In fact, once they asked for a drivers license as well.

Why doesn't he just add you to his American Express account? They will send a card in your name as an authorized user.

I doubt she would receive the card within two days.

. . . We'll just charge to the KTTW card, his Amex will be the card on that . . .

1) PERFECT !
2) This is what I recommend to guests when they question me on TIW.
3) Because, some eateries are very strict on the TIW holder being the ONLY person to pay.
4) I know of several instances where TIW was not granted because the server saw cash changing hands !

Really??!! That's a little silly no?

My TIW card is in my name but we had no problems at all with dh paying the bill with his debit card. We must have gotten lucky or maybe because I was present they allowed it.

Their rules.

Their rule is that "the member has to pay the bill". You seriously think the intent of that rule is to monitor the exchanging of cash and make sure the cash only comes out of the member's pocket?

Oh no!!!! What if they gave the member cash before they entered the restaurant and the member pulls it out and presents it as their own cash??? Oh the horror!

Been using TIW for years and have never had an issue paying. It is in my name since I do all the planning and paperwork. Who pays with what credit card depends. We never think about it. I guess if they ever gave us a hard time if my husband went to pay I would just give them my card.

I think also they would be much more lenient if the last name is the same. If you had different last names, I can definitely see that as being a problem.

DH always pays and the card is in my name, never had an issue.

Also, in September we did a 10 day trip with extended family and my Mom charged our meals to the room while I used my TIW and no one said anything. And we have different last names. You'll be fine!

If they do require name on TIW to pay do not be surprised. Different managers have different levels of leniency. Just be ready for a plan B
