TiW Expiration

I'm curious about the expiration date for TiW. I noticed in checking the updated listing of restaurants on the website last night that it says "valid for one year from date of purchase." However, we bought the card on April 24th, 2015. The back of the physical card itself says "expires 5/31/2016."

So which is it?

It's important as our next trip in April is timed such that our APs will expire before we leave. We're offsite at a timeshare but would continue to use the card for dinners at Disney Springs and some resorts if we can, but if not, we might choose elsewhere. Would be great to squeeze a few extra meals out of the card to maximize our return.

Also, can you buy a new Tables card on the last day of your APs if you're not planning on renewing the APs and then have the TiW card to use for the next year?

Anyone have insight?

When I had the card I was told it expired the end of the month after I purchased it. I'm pretty sure we bought it in May and it expired the end of June the following year. That was how it was explained and how it read but I never tried to use it during June because we don't travel there in the summer.

I am curious though if one has to have an AP just to purchase it or to continue using it. Because I imagine not everyone buys it as soon as they get their AP activated. Will be following this thread to see if someone has that answer.

Your TiW card will expire on the date printed on the back. Although the TiW site says it runs for a year, in actual practice they date the expiration to the end of the month after you buy it. We've had TiW for many years now.

You only need the AP to actually purchase the TiW card. Once you have it, you don't need an actual AP to use the TiW card.

We bought TIW at the MK in January. It expires exactly one year from the day we purchased it. Not the end of the month (so almost 13 months). We got exactly 12 months.

Interesting. That would be a change in the way they have been doing it. I wonder if that was a one-time thing.

The last time we purchased a TIW card (Sept 2014) it was good until end of Oct.2015. We will be purchasing another one on Tues. so we will see what it says this time.

I've had for years and they always expired 13 months. I just got my new one in December, 13 months.

The reason I was given is if you purchase on the phone (some can, some can't) then it is instantly active just like if you buy in person. They add the time on to allow for the shipping time. To be consistent, everyone gets the same time frame.

I have several times had the TiW long after an AP expired when I was staggering purchase based on upcoming trips. All they might ask for is your ID but not your AP.

We got our third card last November and it expires dec 31 2016. Also we are DVC members and don't hsve an annual pass. When we use the card no one has asked for any ID or our member card.

I have had many meals where they have not, but many where they have. All TiW members should carry their ID with them.

The TiW official terms state -
"The TiW member must be in attendance at the meal, present the TiW card, a driver's license or state ID, and pay for the meal, in order to apply the discount."

Glad to hear that the TIW card is still good for 13 months. I was really afraid that this was going to be one more example of a little bit of pixie dust getting swept up and thrown in the dustbin! When I called in Nov. to book our Luau show I asked about the TIW discount and even though my card had expired she gave me the discount because I still had it and just gave her the number off the back. I will be buying another one for this trip, even though the price increase made me think twice.

Sadly, used our TiW card for the last time today. Expires 5/31 and our trip is coming to an end. Totally got our monies worth out of three trips. I'll have to calculate the final savings when we get home.

We got ours June 3rd or 4th of 2015 and it is good til the end of this July, so we are getting almost 14 months out of it
