We are two groups, four and four, each having our own room and the DDP at ASMo in a couple weeks.

Say all eight of us are at one table at a restaurant and we all use our DDP credits, but we have two separate rooms, so two separate KTTW cards. Will they give each four their respective receipt, or do it all as one? And say I use my TiW card for an appetizer for my four, but my bro wants an appetizer for his group too... can he still get my TiW discount if we're at the same table, but using separate KTTW cards for our DDP credits?

Yeah for vacations! (btw, if you haven't already, you can mane dinner reservations under just one room for all 8 of you...so you can use just one reservation confirmation number when you call or go online to make your ADR's). Am I to understand that you have the basic Disney Dining Plan, and not the deluxe/premium/platinum dining plan? I ask this because of the appetizer question...if you are talking about children under 9, the appetizers will be charged to the room with the children under 9 and then the others will be asked about by the CM server.

To make better sense of what I just wrote, here is an example: Room A has 4 people over 10 years of age. Room B has 2 adults and 2 children, ages 5 and 7. If you have a non-buffet meal, at the end of the meal, the CM will ask how to split up the extra items (extra appetizers, 2nd desserts, soups, and other non-basic-DDP options). Afterward, you will give the CM one key for each room, and the CM will bring back the check for you to sign and/or pay for any additional items. Because your party is over 6 people, there will already be 18% gratuity added (if not, then you would have a choice whether to leave 18 or 20% in gratuity). If nothing additional was ordered (say 6 adult entrees, 2 child appetizers, 2 child's meals, 6 adult desserts, and 2 child desserts), then you would have one person from room A and one person from room B sign the ticket to approve of the usage of 4 Table Service credits from the room.

I hope that this made sense. PLEASE feel free to ask questions to clarify what I am talking about or what is not still clear. The Disney Dining Plan is like an HMO...WONDERFUL if you play by the rules/guidelines, but confusing if you do not or don't know the rules.

Happy travels and bon appetit!! popcorn::

Just totally zoomed through, and missed commenting on the TiW card! Sorry! OK, since only YOU are allowed to use this card, perhaps you should strategize to get the best deal...decide when you are not using the DDP TS credits, and have everything be on one bill. If you are using the DDP TS credits, then I would say that you should be the one ordering the extra things, so that the CM will put everything on your portion of the bill (as the discount only applies to YOUR ckeck, regardless of how many or few are at the table...b/c you are traveling with fewer than 10 people).

Does that make sense?

Keep in mind that if you booked as a party of 8, regardless of sitting at separate tables, you'll get the same auto-gratuity like the TiW card, 18%. (That goes for all parties of 6 or more.)

I think you could get the appetizers as a separate bill and use the TiW discount. You'd just have to split the cost with the other family, but only one charge may be used. They won't split the TiW check on multiple cards.

To make it easier, you could tell the server up front that you want to order the normal meals using DDP credits, but wish to order appetizers with the TiW discount as a separate thing. The servers should know how to handle it.

Thanks... makes sense. Thanks for clarification.

Are we automatically having gratuity added to the check if one of our eight is an infant? It's really only seven that are paying for meals, just that we need eight places at the table.

Wait... now I'm getting mixed up too...

Is gratuity automatic for parties of 6 or 8?

Do infants not getting a meal still count in that number?

And is there a difference if we're using TiW or DDP as far as automatic gratuities are concerned?

Yes, the infant counts as a person, and you should include the infant in your party size when you make reservations. At any rate it's a party of 6 that gets the automatic gratuity.

ALL parties using TIW are assessed an automatic gratuity no matter what size the party is. Therefore, when you put your appetizers and drinks on a separate bill and use the TIW discount on that bill, an 18% gratuity will be automatically added to that bill. As noted, you can't split the checks if you are using TIW discount. All discounted items must be on one bill. Even if you split the checks and don't use TIW, you'd probably have the gratuity added anyway since you have more than 6 in your party.

All parties of six or more are also assessed an automatic gratuity of 18%, so because you are a party of 8 your dining plan bills will also have that added to each bill.

For further tipping discussion, see the Tipping Info Thread at the top of this forum. All tipping discussion should be made on that thread.

We did this on our vacation in January. When we placed our orders, we told the server that we would be using DDP credits (some in our party had regular DDP and some had deluxe) and that we wanted the tip and all extra charges placed on our bill. We had 5 room keys total, we submitted all 5 plus the TIW card to the server and he/she would come back with everybody's ticket to sign plus a bill for my husband and I to sign with the additional charges and tip.

It was very easy; we had no problems at any of our meals doing this.
