Dined @ the Kona Cafe Sushi Bar tonite.
We've eaten there loads of times before.
We were told at the end of the meal that the Tables in Wonderland Card wasn't accepted there. The sushi chefs even questioned the waiter/CM about it saying that it was accepted a few days ago.
Waiter said it's the only restaurant/bar in the Poly that doesn't take it.
Has anyone else encountered this??
Went to the Guest Services desk @ the Poly and they were surprised and not sure, but couldn't verify yes or no.
It's a bit disconcerting to pay for a card that Disney doesn't then honor.
Heck, I can go to Kimono's @ the Swan and they take it.
Anyone know where to write to complain.

We eat there all the time and it has always been accepted...Wonder what has happened?:confused3

They should have taken it, since you can order anything from the Kona Cafe menu, and Kona Cafe definitely accepts it. Even the Tambu Lounge accepts it, and they're just a bar. I would have asked to speak with the dining manager at Kona Cafe.

I'll call today. I have all my receipts.
Thanks.

We just renewd our TIW card about 2 weeks ago & were given an orange sheet detailing Participating Locations & Blackout Dates. The Sushi Bar is not on it.

Totally understand the frustration. The only thing I can say is a) it IS a Counter Service location and b). all programs/benefits are always subject to change :sad2: Not that it's any consolation...

They would not accept it last Thursday either. The explanation was that it was considered a different restaurant from Kona.

It is not a counter service location. They take TS DDP credits, not CS, and if you sit there and eat you will have a server.

Wow. I wonder if that's just one of those "subject to change without notice" things listed as a disclaimer on the back of the card. I'm surprised they aren't accepting it.

I was told by Concierge @ the Poly that it is billed through the Kona Cafe so that it SHOULD be on it.
I called the Poly on Friday 10 Sep and the CM I spoke w on the phone said the same thing. She transferred me to TIW who agreed to credit the discount to my credit card. I scanned in my receipts and emailed them.

I'm not going to mail my receipts to get such a small amount back. But it is good to know that one should insist next time and ask for the manager.

Thanks for the correction on that one. This is one of those places we keep saying we have to try & somehow never make it so I didn't realize you have a server. Good to know!

I can't help but wonder if the change (confusion?) occured when it was made a permanent spot? Now that it's its own entity maybe it will be formally added to the list :confused3

>>ot going to mail my receipts<<

I scanned mine in and attached it to an email.

"Tables in Wonderland" <WDW.Tables.In.Wonderland@disney.com>,

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but since every poster here seems to have eaten there,,,,
Here's a quick Kona Sushi Bar question for you. Is the Sushi Bar area available to just "walk up & sit down", or are ADRs suggested/accepted? Or is checking in @the Kona podium required?

Thanx for ay replies!

No ADRs.

I was just one person ordering a roll and a drink, so it's not even worth the effort to find and scan the receipt. Letting this one go. But next time I will ask for a manager.\

You don't need an ADR. It was totally empty the night I went and there is seating at a counter along the window as well as at the bar.

We've never had an ADR. Walk up always. There are a few seats around the bar, but loads in the general area.

Frank, I'm glad that you were able to get such a fast response on that, and that they did honor it for you! I was just about convinced the place was no longer valid for the discount. Thanks for the update!

Update:
I sent the info to TIW and haven't heard back, but did receive a phone call this morning from Guest Services who promise to look into this further.
Guest Service rep did say though that in the AM, when the Kona "bar" is a coffee bar, TIW is NOT accepted, but when it turns in to a sushi restaurant @ 5pm, TIW should be accepted.
