Hello,

Are there any places around BWV or BCV that allow take out and use of the TIW card? We will be traveling without my mother (babysitter) in law in January and would like to bring some food back back to our room other than pizza or burgers.

Interesting question. The TIW site doesn't say one way or the other.

I suspect the restaurant employees would be happy for you to use it, since they would get an 18% auto gratuity to "not" provide you table service.

It doesn't hurt to ask. Since the website rules don't exclude carry-out, I'd think you probably could use it.

In general WDW restaurants are not equipped for Take Out. They do not have the space or resources to accommodate more diners than are in the restaurant. There was a reference, a few years ago, to someone being able to get wings to go from ESPN. I don't know if this is still the case.
I would not think you would be able to use TIW if you could find somewhere to take out a meal, but I don't know that for certain.

The only way to get "take out" at a table service restaurant is to be seated in the dining room and order the meal just like any other diner. Once the meal is delivered, you can ask for a to go container.

This is how it worked for us at Captain's Grill!

Yep, we do that with practically ever character meal....too busy meeting to eat.

That's the game that we play also. :goodvibes

You should be able to order at the bar, if the restaurant has one. You shouldn't have to actually be seated at a table, and they should be able to provide to-go boxes straight away. Personally, I've only every ordered a beer to go from EPSN using my TiW card.

Do you have a car? This proably isn't a good solution because of the distance, but Artist's Palette at SSR takes the TIW. They'll pack up meals to go. They have a very nice selection, too.

Here are your choices in the BW area:
Disney's Yacht Club Resort
##Ale and Compass Lounge
##Captain's Grille
##Crew's Cup Lounge
##Yachtsman Steakhouse

Disney's Beach Club Resort
##Beaches & Cream Soda Shop (excludes take-out shop)
##Cape May Café
##Martha's Vineyard Lounge

Disney's BoardWalk Resort
##Belle Vue Lounge (excludes breakfast)
##Big River Grille & Brewing Works
##ESPN® Club
##Flying Fish Café
##Kouzzina by Cat Cora®

Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort ##Garden Grove
##Il Mulino New York Trattoria
##Kimonos
##Shula's Steak House
##Todd English's bluezoo

I don't think any offer take out service. Maybe ESPN.

Big River Grille will do take out for you and I am sure we used our TIW card too. Just ask to go into the bar and place your order with the bartender, order a drink for yourself and they bring the food to you all bagged up.

They have great hamburgers, btw.

Thinking about it, the reason for no take out is probably the tip. Disney is big on letting the unions set up pro-tip situations like requiring an adult to be in the room when bell services visits your room.

Do they still add in the automatic gratuity for take-out?

Yes. There is no difference between "take-out" and ordering like normal in a restaurant. The automatic gratuity is based on the restaurant, not the reservation.

when i was at akv last trip i was stuck in cause my son was sick. i wanted jiko. i called private dining and was able to get food from jiko delivered to my room. i payed like a 20 percent fee or something i think but i got my dinner from there that night.

But this wouldn't be considered "takeout" but rather "Room Service", I believe. Room Service is available at DVC resorts connected to a resort hotel
