Due to some bad planning, our AP expires before our TIW does. We have a short trip coming up and we will not be renewing our APs. Will we still be able to use the TIW? I don't recall being asked to produce the AP when using the TIW card, but I never really thought about it until now :confused3

Thank you!

The TIW card has its own expiration date. Look on it - that's when you can't use it anymore.

Technically you are supposed to produce the AP or FL resident ID. I've never been asked though, and I too have had an active TIW but an expired AP. I carried my expired AP just in case, and was prepared to explain that I hadn't renewed the AP but the TIW card was still good per its expiration date. It never came up.

You can still use the TIW. No need to have an active AP in order to use the TIW discount through the end of it's expiration.

You don't need the AP. The back of the card says that you need a state issued ID so they can check to make sure the card is yours... but it does not state you need an AP to use.

Just to confirm, I had an AP that expired May 2011 but my TIW expires in August 2011. I just got back from a trip in July in which I did not have a current AP but was able to use my TIW with no problem.

You could purchase a TiW card on the day your AP expires and it would be good for about 12½ months.
