Hi! We are going in Oct for the first time as AP holders and not doing the DDP since we are staying off property. We will be in the parks for 8 days and have 8 TS meals planned. I've read some about TIW but still have a couple of questions if anyone can advise...

1- is the 20 % discount on top of the 10% discount for having APs? For a total of 30% discount? That sounds awesome to me!

2- it says valet parking is free as long as you have an ADR at a restaurant... I have heard that if you have a breakfast ADR and valet park you can leave your car all day. Is that true even if you go the free valet with TIW?

3- also valet related. This might be stretching, but what if we gave ADR for dinner like at 1900PF and want to valet park in the morning, then go to MK and come back to eat? What's the time limit of when you can valet for free with TIW? will they make us wait until close to our ADR?

4- I read that it has to be purchased at guest relations but somewhere else I read it can be purchased by phone?

5- how long is the TIW valid?

Thank you fir your help!

1- no. Not stackable.

2- logically, no. ADRs have a 3 window for parking in the regular lot. It'd make sense that it's the same for valet since it's for the meal. If you show up to pick up your car at 8p, but your reservation was at 9a I'd expect them to tell you to pay. I've seen the question asked before, but I've never seen anyone comment doing it successfully. We've never tried it, and don't plan to.

3- you pay for valet when you pick up your car. So they would allow you to valet. It's when you show your receipt to pay and claim to expect no charge that would be an issue, as noted above. They know what time you brought your car.

4- AP holders can purchase over the phone. Call the AP line.

5- a year

TIW is also valid as soon as it's purchased so wait till you get here to get one. It's really quick and easy to do

From the www.tablesinwonderland.com website, "Resort valet services are complimentary to Tables in Wonderland members, for the sole purpose of dining at one of the participating Resort restaurants." So, you won't be able to valet all day on the free perk.

AP holders can purchase the card over the phone, but DVC members can only purchase in person. Historically, the card has been valid through the end of the 13th month, but recent reports put the validity at exactly 13 months from purchase. The concencus seems to be that, since the card is activated as soon as you purchase it, even if you're having it mailed to you, they need to give you more than the "one year" validity to keep you whole.

4- I read that it has to be purchased at guest relations but somewhere else I read it can be purchased by phone?

4 - Guest Relations at any park or DTD (2 locations). Yes you can but there is a catch. It will take 3-4 weeks for your card to get to you and the card is activated from the minute you purchase it, even on the phone. So if you have to buffer a month in or you call even earlier, all that time is lost on your membership. Not worth it to me when I was told so I get mine at Guest Relations. From their site "Florida Residents and Annual / Seasonal Passholders may also purchase over the phone. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery when purchasing by phone."

5 - Our card is always for 13 mos from TIW purchase, it is not tied in to your AP dates.

Thank you everyone! I'm sure I sound like a total cheapskate! Sorry!

Anyone have input on how long I will spend at guest relations buying one? Just trying to balance out the convienence of a phone purchase even if we won't get to use it for those three or four weeks...

Maybe 10 - 15 minutes, depending on when you go there...If it's at RD you should be fine..

I'd say wait till you get there and do it, unless of course you know definitely that you won't be making a return visit within the 13 month window...

BTW. The original 10% that you are expecting from the AP, isn't for every TS meal, and isn't for all dinners too..You'll have to check your ARD's to see, if the savings are for you or not...

I believe the break even point is around $500 , and we usually go over this during our primary visit, & then get another visit that we're able to use TiW as well.

Substantial savings . Also Our 1st time buying we were able to get it for DVC price of $75 too..Even more savings....& 1 other thing to note, If you have a Chase Freedom card, the 5% rewards for restaurants will be from April - June...And this can be Stacked.....

Depends on the line. I doubt it took me 5 minutes to actually purchase the card.

Ok...wow! Thank you DizDad7! I hadn't realized there were so many ADRs we had not included in to AP discount that will be in the TIW... Without doubt we need to purchase!

Not that this is a huge concern, but also not sure if you knew this or not. TiW also takes off 20% off alcoholic beverages as well..AP doesn't.

actually I just purchased the TIW card at Epcot guest relations yesterday and it is valid through 3/31/2016!

I just did this yesterday - about 30 min due to a long line, once at the counter, maybe 5.

OP, look here: http://allears.net/pl/disc_dining.pdf

This gives you the restaurants (and mealtimes) that will have AP discounts and also the places that give the TIW discount.

On our last trip, we realized that we were dining at places that had a different discount (DVC), and we weren't dining enough to make up the full TIW cost. So we didn't buy it.

Definitely look at the list of the restaurants you plan on and compare the AP and TIW discounts for your specific trip.

Wow! Thank you everyone and thanks for that link, Bumbershoot! I'm so grateful for the help I get here in the disboards from all of you!
