We just moved from the OC to San Diego. I currently have COX. (Which we did have in the OC.) This DVR we have in SD has to be the oldest DVR ever ... it is totally different than the ones we had in the OC.

Ok, for instance, when we finish watching a show ... at the end of the show the DVR states as one of its options ... "save this to your VCR" ... who even has a VCR anymore? :headache:

If you ff, more times than not it will ff through the entire show ... we cannot get the stupid thing to STOP. Then we have to start the show all over. :headache:

There are times we are watching a recorded show and the DVR will FREEZE. We have to reboot it by shutting it off and starting over. :headache:

If you stop watching a recorded show for even a few minutes and change the channel, and then go back to the recorded show ... you have to ff until you find the spot you left off in. :headache:

And which I hate the most, you can only record 2 shows at once and if two shows are recording, you can only watch THOSE shows OR shows you have already recorded. You cannot watch anything on LIVE tv. :headache:

We called about DIRECTV and they came out and told us they would need to do all this outside wiring. I have a brand new home, I did not want wires all outside the side of the house. :headache: I told the Directv man that I have not seen cable wires coming in and out of people's homes since the early '80's. :headache:

U-VERSE is in parts of SD but not my area yet. It is a brand new subdivision of homes. AT&T has no idea when it will be here. :headache:

Sooooo ... I am thinking about buying a TIVO!!! :thumbsup2

I would love to hear from TIVO people! Do you like it, will I like it? Is it costly? Do I still need COX?

TIA!!!! :flower3:

KARRRR!!!!! You are a lady on the move!

I love my HD Tivo and now there is a new version of the Tivo out. It has a bigger memory for HD and regular tv. When I bought this HD Tivo it was considered an upgrade and only paid half price so I can't help you with that but I am so glad I bought the lifetime subscription.

I can only record 2 shows at one time and cannot watch tv if I'm using both tuners either just watching recorded shows. I tend to stag the shows so if I'm really wanting to watch something then I try to find a later time for the show to record, which is easy when the show is on USA/TLC/Food Network or those kind of channels instead of the regular 4, 7, 11 kind of channels.

Talk to your cable company about what they will provide and how much it will cost. We rent the cable cards from the cable company($5/monthly per card) and have the cable coming from the wall. No need for a cable box. The downside is if you are used to on demand tv shows, we can't get them with this cable and tivo. I don't know if that is the same everywhere else. We have our tivo wired for wireless and have instant download of movies from netflix with our subscription which is very nice.

You like your tv girly, you might need 2!:grouphug:

Oh no we still have the premium channels. In fact we have like 300 channels and the hd stuff but we don't have any cable box. It goes from the wall to the TIVO so since we didn't havce cable box charges we could get more cable. I have phone/internet/cable all together and pay a decent price and get one set ofthe premium movie channels free.

As for us we are busy as all get out. Matt is hom right now. He goes TDY ever 3 months for 3-4 months and then home for 3 months. Not the best way to live but we are making it.

I'm doing great. I have started a wonderful new job and work way too many hours. I hadn't planned to work while here but couldn't say no.

My MIL is coming to visit next month. You know that will be a story or 20:laughing: I miss you bunches, my friend:flower3:

Yes, I am looking to reduce my cable charges hence getting rid of the two DVR's that I have and buying the TIVO!

Not to mention that I would like a newer box then the one I have that is obviously an antique. :headache:
