We just moved from the OC to San Diego. I currently have COX. (Which we did have in the OC.) This DVR we have in SD has to be the oldest DVR ever ... it is totally different than the ones we had in the OC.
Ok, for instance, when we finish watching a show ... at the end of the show the DVR states as one of its options ... "save this to your VCR" ... who even has a VCR anymore?
If you ff, more times than not it will ff through the entire show ... we cannot get the stupid thing to STOP. Then we have to start the show all over.
There are times we are watching a recorded show and the DVR will FREEZE. We have to reboot it by shutting it off and starting over.
If you stop watching a recorded show for even a few minutes and change the channel, and then go back to the recorded show ... you have to ff until you find the spot you left off in.
And which I hate the most, you can only record 2 shows at once and if two shows are recording, you can only watch THOSE shows OR shows you have already recorded. You cannot watch anything on LIVE tv.
We called about DIRECTV and they came out and told us they would need to do all this outside wiring. I have a brand new home, I did not want wires all outside the side of the house.
I told the Directv man that I have not seen cable wires coming in and out of people's homes since the early '80's.
U-VERSE is in parts of SD but not my area yet. It is a brand new subdivision of homes. AT&T has no idea when it will be here.
Sooooo ... I am thinking about buying a TIVO!!!
I would love to hear from TIVO people! Do you like it, will I like it? Is it costly? Do I still need COX?
TIA!!!!
