TIVO Confuses me!!!!

Also, if you split your cable feed so one fork goes directlly to the television, you CAN watch a third show live while TIVO is taping two shows.

OKay--you're talking wires. That's just too much confusion. I'll end up lucky if we can watch a DVD if I go back there. :rotfl:

(okay--I'm not that bad! :rotfl: )

Haha!

Another thing I don't understand--for my girls..I got season pass of Clifford for example. I expected it would be one clifford one channel one time---but it records ALL of them.

I like the convenience--but it all seems kooky!

If you one it to only record a show once, then tell it to "record this showing". A season pass will record it every time it is on. If you tell it to record Clifford on channel 4 it will record Clifford every time it is playing on Channel 4. The problem is that some of these shows are shown 2-3 times a day and it will record all of them unless something else is set to record.

Tvo lover here!

The Tivo receiver must have 2 tuners to record 2 shows at once.

You can "manage" season passes from one of the screens (sorry at work or I could tell more exactly). If the season pass is set to "record all" it will record Clifford or whatever on ALL the channels it finds...you can arrow over and set it to "first run only" or "repeats and first runs".

This is also where you set up how long to keep the program and how many episodes to keep.

You can only record 2 shows and watch something that is already recorded unless you wire direct to the tv and switch inputs (nope...not doing that).

Lovin the whole Tivo thing!

Yup.

1. You must have a Tivo with two tuners, to record more than one channel at a time.

2. Shows are often syndicated, running on multiple channles, multiple times per day (like Will and Grace). You have to tell Tivo which showings to record or else it will record ALL of them. So you have to get a season pass and tell it to record only the first run episode and not the repeats, or tell it to record a specific time/channel.

3. You CAN shut off the stupid suggestion thing. We no longer allow TIVO to suggest programs it thinks we would like. TIVO was often wrong...VERY wrong ;-)

4. You can record two programs at once but cannot WATCH a third one that is being aired LIVE. HOWEVER you CAN watch a third program that has been already RECORDED, while the other two are being taped. Just go into the "No Playing" menu and pick a program that has been recorded and watch that while TIVO is recording two other programs for you.
