Anyone been to the Orlando Titanic Exhibit? My DS8 is so fascinated by the Titanic misfortune & he loves to read about it, he'll watch whatever special may be on TV on that subject. As we were leaving FL last month, I happened by a brochure that shows there is a Titanic exhibit somewhere in the Orlando area & I wondered if anyone has been to it? If so, can you share your opinions on it?

Yes we did and we really enjoyed it. We even caught the ghost in a picture!! It is haunted by a little girl named Katherine and also by the Captain. We pulled our tour guide to the side and she told us all about the haunting there. When we got home and had the pictures developed there he was....The Captain's face in a picture of my mom.

Okay aside from my fascination with the haunting of this exhibit it was very interesting. A guide takes you through rooms that are recreated to look identical to the ones in the Titanic. You see real artifacts from the ship and read actual letters and also there are tons of news articles etc. When you enter you are given a ticket with a name on it.....at the end you find out whether you lived or died. It was very very interesting and we wouldn't think twice about doing it again.

There is a painting the was done at the time that depicts the awful tragedy ..... when I was looking at that painting a freezing cold wind was all around me.....oops I'm back on the haunting of the exhibit again but it was awesome! Our guide told us that the little girl Katherine will get mad and knock things off the shelf in the gift shop.....she also has a ball that will just appear all through the exhibit.....

It was haunting and very interesting, I think Nicholas would love it, J.C. did.

Hi Beth!!! Oh, now I'm really excited about going!! I was sitting on the fence on this one thinking, "well, my DS would love it but we'll all be bored!" I guess not!! Not to mention, ghosts too?? :bounce: I can't wait to go now. :hyper: I best not tell my DS about the ghosts though. He wouldn't like that.

Too bad our boys didn't get to experience that together!

I guess after your rave review, we will have to put it on our agenda next time!!

So when are you going back??

I'm a history buff too though so that may be why I loved it so much. I could have stayed in there all day reading those letters and articles. Also there are discounts in those little books you get all over Orlando.

I told J.C. about it being Haunted before we went (you can look it up on the web and it will tell you about it) and it was hillarious watching him. He was right up under me the entire time. Then when the guide started telling us about Katherine he was so interested.

I honestly don't know when we will go back. John and I are planning on a Disney Cruise at the end of November so I doubt we will actually go back to Disney before 2005 sometimes...what about you?

I'm fascinated by the Titanic and would love to see this exhibit. Unfortunately, the rest of my family isn't really interested. :(

Plus, it's awful hard to tear myself away from WDW.

I don't know what booklets all over Orlando you mean, but I will start watching out for them! Truthfully, once we get to Disney, we never seem to leave the property, except to hit the Disney Outlet malls!!

We plan to go in Dec (again for Christmas) but my DH just also made ressies for Easter week!! I went once for Easter (our first time in fact) & it was so crowded & so hot, I swore "never again." But in this Sunday's paper there was an ad for Disney's Value Resort hotels for $89 per night (which seems like a great deal during peak season), so he made ressies (at Pop Century). We have a couple months to "ponder" whether we really will go or not during this time.

I'd like to pay off our last trip before we take another trip!!

You can join us now Sugarbear!! I'm all excited about going now, after reading Beauty's post!

Rose at the Outlet Malls they have those little coupon books at every entrance. There are all kinds of them and they have like $2 per person off the price of admission to Titanic. There are some good coupons in those books for other places too......and they are free....LOL!

I saw this same exhibit in Cleveland, and my SIL saw it in NC--it is awesome no matter where you are.

I saw it as I am also a major Titanic buff. I enjoyed the exihibit very much. It was done very tastefully and is just an awesome site too see. The entire group of 4 of us were all "dead" according to the passenger list we had. I would definatly check it out if you can.

Its funny, they have people in period dress...and if you asking them anything about the sinking, they play "dumb" and will tell you the ship is unsinkable. Try it...its great fun

That sounds like fun ~ asking the people in period dress about the sinking "unsinkable" ship!! My DS would get a real kick out of that!!

P.S. Those puppies are too adorable Dax!!

Does anyone know how long itll be in Orlando?? or where it goes after that?

I really want to see the display but I doubt itll be anywhere near me...

The Titanic Exhibit in Orlando is a permanent one. It differs from the traveling one. I saw the traveling one in 98 in St. Petersburg, Fl., and I've been to the one in Orlando twice. Both are great-just different. The tour guides in period dress add so much to the overall effect of the exhibit. I've been a Titanic nut for most of my life and I get to teach a unit on it ito my 7th grade students. I think anyone who is even mildly interested will be fascinated. You can find the coupons anywhere in Orlando or Kissimmee.

I heard on the news yesterda that the exhibit is coming to Birmingham sometime soon. I can't wait to see it.

Angelina, I think it's already in B'ham at the McWane Center. We're just trying to find a good weekend to go up to see it.

Incase any one is wondering the Orlando Titanic exhibit is at the Mercardo Shopping area on I-drive and in the front is the Hard Rock Vault

Are the traveling one and the Orlando one different?

Anyway I now need to add that to my things to do while in Orlando... Course it might be strange doing the exibit and cruising in the same week...

Oh boy, cruising & doing a Titanic tour? Hmmm....I'd say go on the cruise first, then do the Titanic tour. I know that I would probably NOT take the cruise after going thru the Titanic exhibit!!

I have been to the Orlando exhibit and its well done. CM's in period costum, a portion of the "B" deck recrated. Lots of artifacts and pictures. Room temp set to simulate the fatefull night. Takes about 20-30 mintes and several good eating places right there.

Marie and I went to the exhibit the year it was developed and first exhibited here in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry. It was quite humbling seeing it, being part of it. It was soon after Marie's cancer treatments and at the end, she lived, I did not. We took her living through the Titanic disaster as a positive sign for her. (Not sure 'bout me though, LOL)
