My hubby did a similar thing when he was deployed to Iraq.. Almost. He made a special video for my daughter and me to watch on Christmas. He sent to my parents-we were staying there for the holidays. My mom woke me up with the sound of his voice. It was my favorite gift of that year. It made all of us (even my grumpy dad) choke up.

God Bless the Soliders and Especially their families - the forgotten heroes.

I watched this video montage the other day.

I had seen the Dog and the Solider on TV awhile ago and it still gets me everytime.

I just remember when my younger brother came home last year. It was the greatest and most emotional day of my life. When he left it was very sad, but we bucked up and moved on. Watching those buses ride up and knowing he was on it was amazing.

God Bless our Troops and especially their families, its tough for everyone all around.

DH is on his journey back - after over a year away. We are down to days. They kids know it's "soon" - but his dog doesn't know - LOL. Maybe I should video her reaction....

I teared up just opening this thread, and I watched that montage a few days ago.

I love that montage I'm actually waiting for the call from my husband that he's hit the States right now...he's in the middle of an 8 month deployment, but had to come back for a week for work-related reasons, and I am SO excited right now. It's been up in the air if he's coming or not, but he called while traveling 2 days ago and I have been on cloud 9 since. He's calling his dad on Father's Day Sunday to surprise him, which will be great.
