Tis the Season for Shipping Frustration

I'm in Target gift card hell too. I ordered 5 - 4 different patterns and different denominations. The one with the most shipped 11/30 still hasn't arrived yet. One shipped the 3rd came today via UPS with signature needed. The remaining three supposedly are being shipped today. Still waiting on a CD from them that shipped the 29th that's one if those UPS USPS fiasco. Waiting in stuff from Walmart, Amazon and QVC...not a good year for shipping

Think Geek sent me an extra t-shirt (I ordered one, and they sent two).

When I called to them about it, I was told I needed to ship the shirt back. No problem, I said.
I asked if they could send me a shipping label, and the guy said no, that I needed to pay for the shipping. I asked if they would discount the shipping cost off the order I had just placed, and he said no. :confused3 The guy wanted me to pay to send a shirt back that I didn't order.

Um, no.

I called back later and spoke to another person, and she told me just to keep the shirt. So now DH, DS and myself all have the same shirt.

Think geek.com is the worst. Nothing has ever come in correctly ever. I refuse to order from them ever again.

I have 3 packages "lost" somewhere in transit - UPS says they handed the packages off to the USPS on Thursday, USPS says they don't have any record of them. :furious: Last time this happened, the package never was found and it took me 3 weeks to battle with the retailer for a refund. (Packages are all gift cards from Target, Target made me place 3 orders because their system wouldn't allow more than 4 gift cards per order.)

Anyone else fighting shipping nightmares???

When you read that the package has been delivered to USPS, there is no certainty that it has been delivered to the USPS. Your package could be part of a pallet or a truckload of pallets and just because it says it was delivered to the final delivery service doesn't mean that it was delivered to your home. We learned this last year. There are many third-party delivery agents who contract to deliver between the delivery service and the USPS. We had a package show as delivered for over two weeks before it was released by the third-party carrier to the USPS.

My pkgs.
Barnes and Noble got in fairly timely manner not what I'd call express or whatever they give me free for being member of their club but timely.

Running skirt company: Got very fast from FL.
Other stuff waiting on but not sure when it was shipped.

Oh, I know that - of course UPS won't admit that. I called, and all the UPS agent would say is "it was given to the post office on the 4th", repeating just what the tracking information said. He also tried to tell me that the "Electronic Shipment Information Received for Package by Post Office" message was created by the USPS scanning the label and that was proof that it had been given to them. :headache:

As I said before, based on previous experience, I actually trust the USPS information more than the UPS information. My post office is usually VERY good about scanning all packages that come in. Now, could they maybe have skipped that step in the holiday rush? Sure. But they've NEVER let a package sit around for 3 days without delivering it - usually they get it out same day. And the fact that the package is marked as handed off to the USPS at precisely 5:00PM, after having traveled over 90 miles in rush hour traffic from it's last scan in just over 2 hours? Well, I find that just too much to believe.

i had an incident with a department store. the website was all glitchy and it took me three tries to check out (this was the wed before thanksgiving when the sales started). i ended up never getting an order confirmation so i emailed. long story short their customer service was behind on emails by 6 days, so by the time i realized i had an order, fedex tried to deliver "twice" to an incomplete address and returned to sender. the address was missing a line, but i find it suspicious they attempted a delivery to an office building on a saturday and no one was contacted in regards to the missing line (a floor number).

i ended up getting a refund from the returned package and CS was really apologetic about the whole incident. i just replaced the order as luckily items are in stock and they are still offering the same discount.

i am still waiting for target gcs. the website tells me they shipped with an estimated shipping date, but no tracking. it does have me a bit worried.

i just placed an order with amazon with free shipping. i didnt realize their "standard" is up to 8 business days. UPS itself is 3-5 days for standard, so that means if i dont pay a fee they process my order a few days after its placed?:confused3

For those that have packages that are handed off to the post office....UPS offers a service to "upgrade" your package to be delivered by UPS instead of being handed off to the PO for $3.50. I've used it when it was high value and critical that I could track it. You just have to sign up for UPS MyChoice...you should get an email anytime UPS has a package for you and that's when you get the option of "upgrading" your delivery.

My Christmas cards from Shutterfly has been sitting in GA since Wednesday. They've moved to different locations in GA since Wednesday but I really need them to move them to MA where I am!

Had a new one today:
FedEx claims that a package was delivered to the club house this afternoon. No note on my door, just claiming this on FedEx.com. The condo association person on duty at the club house says that UPS, USPS, and FedEx haven't been around yet today. Okay, fine. Not 2 hours later I receive a phone call that the FedEx packages had been found. The driver had thrown the packages inside the main door to the indoor pool/workout center!

Some of these are making me laugh. Some of the silly customer service responses are hilarious. Here are mine....

Ordered from a company I haven't used since we've been at our current address (three and a half years). I changed our address with the order. And waited. Started wondering where the package was and thought I should look for the shipping notification email and track it. Didn't have time. Arrive at work one day to an email from the person who bought the house saying they had the package and they had tried to get the shipper to pick it up and they wouldn't. How the heck did this woman find me???? I called the company and they spent quite a bit of time on my issue but they weren't having the package picked up and re delivered, she was reordering everything (so the original package was just supposed to hang out at the wrong address?). Well one of the items was out of stock. Excuse me? You mess up my order and now I'm supposed to do without an item because of your mistake and the inability to redeliver the original package? (And by you I mean the company, not the customer service rep! She was very nice just not helpful) I had a friend go pick up the package and gave the company my honest review when they asked for it. I've spent thousands of dollars with them and have recommended them to at least a hundred people. No more. DONE with them and unsubscribed from their emails now!

Ordered an item that was listed as a "set of 12."
What arrived was only a set of four. When I emailed I asked for the remaining eight to be shipped. I was told no they wouldn't send me eight more but they would issue a full refund and told me to keep the four that arrived. Well okay so now I have four cannoli tubes that were free but I really need twelve. Lol.

Ordered a gift from disney store. Ships, I wait, Friday evening I check the tracking and it says on time for that day's date "by end of day." I realize that the end of the day can be pretty late for delivery people this time of year so j think nothing of it. Until 10pm when it hasn't arrived and I check the tracking again and it says "no information available" ???? The birthday it was supposed to be here for was Saturday. It arrived today.

yeah, and I get this year round. My house number is also a house number on a street near me. My street's name is much longer and does not sound or is spelled even close to the other street's name and is a totally different name and is two words, while mine is one. And, our family and first names, are not even close either. Well, thank goodness I have a sorta nice neighbor. Several times, packages have been delivered, clearly addressed to me, with my correct address, to my neighbor. Ugh.

We live on XY circle. In the cul-de-sac, there is also an XY street and just XY. We get each others mail all the time.

In Jax, there is (all connecting) Baymeadows Rd, Baymeadows Way, Baymeadows Circle E, Baymeadows Circle W, and Old Baymeadows Rd.

When DH was designing subdivisions, he had to stop one of the engineers from naming the streets all one name (and it was such a generic name, like Oak--he was going for Oak St, Oak Lane, Oak Circle, etc). :confused3 It's not like there isn't a shortage of words to use as names for streets....

Only issue I have had is Starbucks gift card. I ordered one for $15 back on Veterans day. Waited 2 weeks, called CC and they said it had fallen off pending transactions. Called Starbucks, they had no record of order, I had deleted order confirmation email, so I said I would reorder gift card because I had plenty of time. Reordered, same thing happens! I get mad, call starbucks and they are super nice and tell me they are sending me a $25 giftcard for my trouble. Well yesterday I get all 3 giftcards! I looked on my CC account to see if they were charged and they were not. I call Starbucks to see what I should do, they gave me $55 for free. They said just keep it, it was their computer issue. :cool1:

This was my only issue. Everything else shipped correctly and on time.

The only issue I've had was pretty funny. Both laptops chargers completely crapped out last weekend. Ordered two new laptop chargers on amazon, different designs for our laptops, so different chargers. One was guaranteed two day shipping to be delivered by the 2nd, the other was guaranteed two day shipping to be delivered by the 3rd.

I'm not great at math, but the 3rd was obviously a day later than the 2nd.

I HATE the old "package has been transferred to post office for final delivery!" When DH and I lived in our condo, every single thing we ordered ended up that way - but other people in our complex got their items delivered by UPS/Fed-Ex? :confused3 (Even from the same store - the people next door to us often ordered from Kohls, as we did. Our delivery went to the post office, but UPS always delivered theirs).

It never failed that the packages would take another 2-3 days to deliver, even though the post office was on the next street. UPS said it wasn't their problem, "the item was delivered" according to their tracking. The companies would say it wasn't their problem, "the item was delivered." USPS couldn't tell us anything because "there's no USPS tracking number." If we tried to go pick it up, they knew nothing about it because "there's no USPS tracking number."

The worst one was last November when I needed IVF meds. One of them had to be refrigerated, so the pharmacy sent them overnight. And of course, FED-EX SENT IT TO THE POST OFFICE FOR FINAL DELIVERY - and I didn't get it for another 2 days!!! It had bright orange stickers all over it, "REFRIGERATE IMMEDIATELY." Thankfully, the meds were still cold, but I was :furious:

Finally got my Target GCs by regular mail yesterday and a shipping notice on the coats from Wal-Mart that were out of stock. Only waiting for the remnants of one final order and hoping they get here before we leave for Florida on 12/19 otherwise they'll be returned to store when we get back.

Well, the good news is my 3 lost packages have finally been scanned by the post office - but in the next city over, not in my city like UPS said they delivered it. But at least they are found and moving.

Now I am waiting on one Dooney&Bourke and one H&M order to ship. H&M claimed the delivery date of the order would be Dec 10 thru the 14th. But it hasn't even shipped yet - so I'm guessing the 10th is out the window :rotfl2: Dooney says they ship in 1-2 business days, and even during Christmas in past years I've had that be the case, but it's now been 4 and there's still no sign of shipment. Ugh.

And then there's my JCPenney order. It's on track to be delivered today, but they still haven't charged my credit card. When they shipped there was a pending charge, but it fell off with no charges ever being posted. I've had cases in the past where companies realized these types of mistakes several months later and suddenly put the charge through - normally I would be OK with that, but I bought this order under one of the AmEx cash back deals, and the charge needs to be posted by the end of the month for me to get the AmEx credit. I wouldn't have bought the stuff if it wasn't for the AmEx credit - that's what made it a decent deal! So now I am envisioning having to go into the black hole of JCPenney customer service and try to explain the problem to them - anyone wanna make a bet that they (a) won't get it and (b) won't do anything about it??

I had an amazon order that said it hadn't shipped yet and received it the following day. Hopefully all your packages arrive!!
I have been waiting on a package of two figurines for my mom for Christmas, called today to find out the status and they said that both are on back order until 1/15/15. Never sent an email or anything to tell me these items were back ordered, so I just ended up cancelling the order. Now back to square one to figure out something else to get her.....

I dropped off 2 boxes at USPS on the 1st. Both are going to my brother stationed in Afghanistan. One box had food and Christmas ornaments. The other had a Christmas tree. The food box is well on its way. The Christmas tree never left the po per tracking. I called and they won't investigate for 2 more weeks. So my brother is getting ornaments but no tree. And by the time they investigate, it will be too late.

Odd -- I ordered 9 gift cards from Target on Black Friday in a single order. All have arrived (all individually sent)

I ordered something through Amazon. Tracking shows it was delivered, but it's nowhere to be found. I just went into my amazon account and requested a refund with one click of a button. A refund back to my credit card was issued pretty fast. Wish I had my package, but Im impressed with how amazon can issue a refund just like that.

This happens to us all the time. I usually try to be patient and wait a few days after it's showing as delivered -- our have always shown up.
