It's been 16 years since I dealt with a new puppy. Now I have 2 to deal with at once and it's causing problems for everyone. The little female has no problem getting in her bed and going right off to sleep. The little boy SCREAMS!!! all night long. Nothing comforts him! We already tried spraying water in his face as a friend suggested but he enjoyed that! Today DH, female puppy and I are totally exhausted and we need your help. Suggestions anyone??? :confused3

Did you try a clock wrapped up in a towel? Believe it or not, it worked for our Rottie when he was just a pup.

how old are they? Try not to let them sleep to much during the day because they have all that energy at night. I went through the same thing with our puppy who is now 8.:goodvibes

Is he lonely? Maybe he wants to sleep with his sister or with you.

How long have you had the puppy? We crated our puppy, the first night, I think I got 1-1/2 to 2 hours of sleep. The 2nd night - maybe 2-3. I ended up sleeping in the floor next to her for a couple of nights until she was more familiar with everything. Also, might not be a bad idea to let the puppies sleep together in a crate.

Tryputting his crate in different areas of the house. Some dogs want to be alone when they sleep, some want to be near their people. I go through this all the time with foster dogs, especially the ones that have never been crate trained. It takes about 3-4 days- long days I know, but worth it.
He might sleep if you put the crate next to your bed- I've spent many a night with my hands poking through the wire mesh or airholes in a crate just to keep a dog quiet.

Are you using a crate? The first night we had our puppy at home he cried all night the next night we got him a crate and he went right in and made himself at home. My DD put the crate on her bed when he still fit in the smaller one and that worked out. With 2 of them you might even create them together.

Hmmm....interesting. Well, we placed these two together in one bed and they did GREAT the first 5 nights. Both slept all night without a peep. Suddenly, 2 nights ago the little boy began going over the edge....nothing's changed that "we" are aware of. Guess I better go out and buy a crate today and place it beside my bed.

The female is 8 months old and the male is 3 months old. The lady who raises Toy Poodles had intended to keep these herself but when I saw them I told DH I'd do "anything" if he'd somehow persuade her to sell them to us. He did! :teeth: They're exceptionally tiny and that's exactly what I wanted. And yes, I do realize they want to get in bed with me. I'd gladly allow that (always have with former dogs) but the male can't make it through the night yet without having to pee. So afraid I wouldn't be aware and would sleep through that!!! :scared:

When we first got our dog Bandit we had a problem also.He actually chewed his way thru the wooden gate we put up to keep him in the kitchen as well as howling. We solved it with a piece of fannel and an old wind up alarm. My husband rubbed the fannel acrossed his chest to pick up his "scent" and the laid it in the box with the alarm clock under the one corner. We put the box next to his side of the bed and he put his hand down at first but after the first night Bandit slept thru the night. Hope this helps.

I found putting a radio with a station set to talk radio only very low helps too. Also putting a towel or blanket inside with your scent helps.

We have had our Shih Tzu puppy for 2 weeks. I agree with Poochie, about the radio turned on low. I couldnt believe it -after two nights of barking, I tried the radio and he sleeps through the night now!

We left the TV on the music channel for our pup and that seemed to work pretty well.
