Tired of hearing complaints

And I am sick of the fact that no one can ever express a negative opinion about HOLY DISNEY without getting trashed. If you have something bad to say about yoru cruise, don't say it here, because msot of the people on this board can't deal with it.

because msot of the people on this board can't deal with it.
I'm not msot people, but I can deal with negative opinions without the winning, and if they try and do something about it. Sometimes you can make a positive out of a negative.
Like, being nice to a CM when they are having a bad day, sometimes positive will negate the negative.
Write to Disney and tell them the problem, give details and names, most of the time it helps.
Most of all, write to Disney when you have something positive to say and give the names of the CM,s.

I hate to hear anything negative about Disney. I will defend it to the death if need be.
That said, I must confess...
I was also a single woman with a teen on the 11/28 Wonder cruise. My DD is 16, and was in CG the night in question. She described to me in detail about how they were playing a game, and kids were saying something inappropriate, and a parent walked in. She told me the exact same thing as Toadman's DD said. The counselor immediately said, "Who is your favorite Disney Character". This must have been discussed previously because all teens knew what it meant. I was not happy, but I wasn't blown away either. Of course, my child is older...
She did not tell me anything about smoking, but since that is a HUGE issue in our house, you can bet she wouldn't. She knows that I would have flipped!!!!
I NEVER get involved in these kind of discussions. I hate the controversy, and all the conflict. I would love to just sit by and pretend I knew nothing. I also hate to watch somebody get bashed, when I know for a fact that they are right.
I must add this tho...the only part I am defending here is that the event in question DID take place. I am not taking sides, I just wanted to add some corroboration.
Now...all that said...
I will definitely take another Disney cruise, and I will Definitely allow my DD to go back to CG, and I would definitely recommend it to others, as is, no changes to rules or CM's.

I think it's good to hear the good and bad points about a Disney vacation. One of the reasons people get so upset when they don't have the perfect trip is because they've only heard how GREAT everything is.

I don't like to reviews that say EVERYTHING about Disney was bad. I also don't want to hear that EVERYTHING was great.

If you had a bad meal, tell us. If you had a string luck with the bus system ( no long waits) let us know about.

Great post and well said. Our family are all Disney fanatics and love everything about the theme parks, cruise line etc. but we realize that Disney is a company (made up of ordinary mortals who occaisionally make mistakes or have a bad day themselves) and will not always be perfect. If you compare Disney to perfection then you will be disappointed most of the time however if you compare it to the rest of the world (cruise lines, theme parks etc.) then you will see how truly terrific this company really is. Not getting the turndown service one night or having a meal where the desert is only OK one night may be slightly annoying but it is not the end of the world and certainly would not ruin my cruise (as was stated on a previous post). People should not spend time looking for things to criticize (you can always find something) but look at the experience as a whole.
I am sure that most people would have to admit that although not perfect, Disney is one of the finest companys at customer service and delivering a quality product at a fair price.

I only wish I had a cruise to gripe about the little things. However, I feel I have a big gripe - they cancelled my cruise!! It has taken away alot of that MAGICal feeling!! And that I feel is a very legitimate gripe

I have learned a lot about priorities in the last year. My 13 year old daughter was dx'd with leukemia Oct 2001. Without going into gory details, whenever someone complains to me about this or that, I silently think to myself - you should be thankful that's the worst thing you're dealing with.

We are going on the Jan 4th Magic cruise, thanks to Make-A-Wish. This is not something our family would probably have done on our own. We visited WDW March of 98 and considered it our trip of a lifetime. I'm sure you can understand how excited we all are, and I believe everything is going to be "perfect", for us.

I guess my point is that everyone's circumstances are different, but if you try for a little understanding of another's situation, maybe things will look a little rosier for you in the process.

Laura, my thoughts and prayers to you and your family, and I will think of you often the week of your cruise. I just posted on another thread, after 9-11 priorities have changed. You didn't need 9-11 to realize your priorities. Your daughter is so lucky that you have such a good outlook on life and I'm sure your parenting / life skills will make her illness more bearable (sp?) and her vacation much more enjoyable. Keep your chin up.
