Tired of hearing complaints

Hate me if you want, but this is only MY opinion.

Disney is a company plain and simple. It is run by ordinary people who, yes, make mistakes and have bad days. If you meet one grumpy cast member, why not try to brighten his/her day? Did you ever think that he/she has just been yelled at one time too many by over-complaining guests?

Some people have a tendency to blame others instead of looking for the faults in themselves. If you didn't have a good time on the ship because you didn't enjoy the activities, is that Disney's fault? Maybe you were expecting too much. Disney tries the best that they can to have activities for all ages, but you can't please everyone. If you don't like the activities planned on a cruise ship, don't go! There are plenty of resources that let you know exactly what goes on.

If your kids are misbehaving, then STOP THEM! Why do some parents expect Disney to watch their children every second. If your kids are supposed to meet you at a certain time and they don't then it's probably a discipline problem that YOU the PARENT need to address.

Some people could make their lives a lot less stressful and happier if they would just learn to relax. If you expect perfection, you're going to be disappointed. For those of us who love Disney, we do so because we are able to see Disney's faults and overlook them and ENJOY our vacations.

If your meal is not perfect, order something else-politely.
If your room is not perfect, book a different category next time.
If you're not happy with the kids programming, then spend time with your kids and don't send them there! Yes, you need adult time, but your kids also need time with you!

Try to enjoy your life. Look for the positive and stop dwelling on the negative.

When you're nice to the people around you, they are usually nice back. From my experience, lots of people who complain about negative treatment are treated that way because of their own behavior.

If this post makes you angry, then maybe you need to consider that you are angered way too easily.

Just something to think about. You don't have to agree.

It all sounds good to me!!!! Thanks for posting. Again, using common sense is the way to go!!!

I think this is IT exactly... you hit the nail right on the head with that statement!
Great post and I couldn't agree with you more! :)

If you decide to run for public office, I'll vote for you!! I do think that Disney does so much so well, our expectations are much higher than they would be for another company - and that is a good thing! It also pushes them to continually improve. However, the other edge of that sword is because they have raised the bar of service so high, people begin to nit pik minute things that really mean little in the overall picture. You Bet - Be Kind To a Cast Member! They do take the brunt of any dissatisfaction by the guest, and registering complaints POLITELY are a much more civil way to address any problem. But we all make our own good times - wherever we go. It certainly isn't up to someone of something else to do it for us. Yes, we the guests, also have responsibilities too.

EEYOREKJS..

GREAT POST... I love it and I agree with you 100%!!!!

You are absolutely right. The world is full of "the glass is half-empty" kind of people who will never be satisfied with anything. That's one of the true facts of life. Us Americans (and other countries, too) have everything available to us. Some people are grateful, some will never be.

Of course, this is a forum for Disney things so things can get pretty heated. Sometimes we need to step back and realize that, in the big picture, it's not really that important how small the rooms were or how attentive the server was. We're so lucky to be on a cruise (!!!!) to begin with when so many people can only dream of such luxury. Having said that, I think most people do expect more from the Disney Corp. because most people may only get one shot. It may take years to save up for a trip to WDW or a cruise and that's it. Disney itself feeds into this hype by constantly referring to themselves as "the happiest place on earth". Watch your cruise video and see for yourself. It's so well done and beautiful, how can they possibly live up to these expectations? Disney promises the trip of a lifetime, and for the most part, that's accurate. However, sometimes things happen and we need to be flexible and, yes, a little forgiving. I love the Disney Cruises because I want to love them. Is it perfect? Hardly. But to us it is.

Sorry so long, I'm getting too excited for our trip.....

BEAUTIFULLY said, <B>eeyorekjs7</B>!

And <B>ppiew</B> - I think I'll have a button made that says "<I>Be Kind To A Cast Member</I>" . . . and I'll wear it on cruises! <I>Some</I> guests seem to need reminding that Cast Members are people with feelings too! ;)

AMEN!

I worked with the public for about 10 years in retail and customer service. I have always said that EVERYONE should work with the public for at least one year. It would change a lot of attitudes.

If you don't like the way something is handled and the 'worker bee' person can't help you just politely ask to speak to a supervisor. The 'worker bee' is only following guidelines and can't deviate from them unless given approval.

I like to hear some things people don't like about the cruise- it is NOT for everyone. I can also make up my own mind whether I want to participate in that negative thing or not. A lot of the times the problem comes in with the tone the complaint is made. Too many people use words like 'always' and 'never' way too much.

eeyorekjs7,
Excellent post!!!

P.S. Are you listening toadman??

I too agree with eeyorekjs7, BUT, slamming people all of the time is just as bad as complaining all of the time. eeyorekjs7, was kind enough to post their feelings without directing it at any one person. Sometimes subtle hints work just fine, without starting a war.

I agree, excellent post. But the comment above was completely uncalled for. You turned a nice thread/post into another battle ground. As the old saying goes, sometimes if you have nothing nice to say, it is better not to say anything at all.

I am new to the site and this will be our first cruise. I really enjoy hearing the good stuff. A trip is only what you make it.

EEYOREKJS7 **

What a great post, I agree with you, to many people
always want to blame someone else instead to taking
the responsibility for there own, actions, children and
there life.

Thanks everyone for your support of my opinion. I'm glad to know others feel the same way I do. And I LOVE the idea of a "Be kind to a Cast Member" pin!! Great idea!!!!!!!!

I work at a police dept. and have to deal with people all the time that think everyone around them owes them everything just because they walked into the room. I'm am not allowed to speak my mind because we are supposed to be polite and courteous. I think I'm going to print out the original post and mail it to the residents. Very nicely put!!!! Thanks eeyoreKjs7!!!
