No, not each night. The expected practice is to give a tip at the end of the cruise. The DCL literature has their suggested guidelines.
Please remember the servers are working very hard for these tips! One reason is that it is a hidden cost of your cruise. Disney does not pay them a decent wage, their real income is the tips. That way the cruise cost appears lower than it really is. So just understand this is part of your cost--and although they are tips for good service, I suspect your service will be absolutely wonderful and you'll gladly be handing that envelope to them at the end of the cruise!
Also, there are some ideas on threads here for other gifts, one popular one seems to be calling cards, another is gift cards for Wal Mart.
Finally, although you can charge the tip to your account and have a receipt to give them, I much prefer cash. It seems more personal that way, and I don't know, but just seems more real.
Yes, you will get the envies in your room. I brought thank you notes & used those instead including a note to our servers & some artwork from the children.
Anything that departs from the norm (using cash, including telephone cards, using special envelopes) shows you took a little time to think about the tips, and I am sure the recipients appreciate it.
After our 7 day Western, we were THROWING money at these wonderful people!!!! No, really if you do get the phone cards as extras to the tips be sure to get the International phone cards.
