Tips, Tricks and Secrets for the Portifino Bay Resort.

If you walk the shortcut thru HRH parking lot, 7-7:10am.

If walking the Garden Path...no later than 7am.

Sadly, that is my plan once or twice on our trip (July 13-18th). Be at IOAs gate no later than 7:15am :sad2:

You mean i have to get up early Barb :eek:

PBH was a big part of why my kids wanted to go back to Universal. We had stayed a few times prior to going on a Disney Cruise. The kids wanted to go back and stay just there.
We did find a little bit annoying that splendido seemed to close randomly with the weather each evening. We could never figure it out.

One secret I loved and it is a very generic one: I started ordering just pours of vodka and ice. Then I would add my own water and crystal light pink lemonade to make my own drink. Cuts out the sugary stuff and the added pounds. :) My other drink/food secret----don't wait until your drink is done (or food) to order something else. Believe me. By the time you get what you ordered what you have will be gone.

Most restaurants at City Walk and I believe the parks have FOTL for seating preference for hotel guests. Just ask and show your card.

Trattoria has the best breakfast buffet. The omelet bar is to die for and yes you can ask for garlic and they will go and get it. YUM!!

Bug spray is a must for the pool if you are doing the dive in movie. I couldn't stand the little bugs. They are doing one every night for a few weeks for HP opening. Not sure if it is done yet. Oh yeah, took a little time to adjust to such a small screen. I guess I always envisioned a bigger one. Don't worry about saving your kids seats. They all just stayed in the pool and watched.

Have fun

Deb

Is there a calendar of events for Portofino? We are going to be there July 14-18th and plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel/pool. I have two kids ages 6 and 7. Thank you!

I don't think there's one listed, but ask at check-in.

Ugh! 7:15 AM - The kids are going to hate me!

2 yr old info, hopefully still current:

At the Flying Fish Bar they have backgammon sets you can use while at the bar. DH and I had a wonderful, relaxing evening enjoying drinks and playing at an outside table.

Not flying fish....thirsty fish

I am staying at PBH for one night after my Harry Potter package stay at the HRH. I just wanted to try it out. I've booked my stay through AmEx Platinum services and the benefits include; free bkfst buffet for 2 every morning of your stay, $100 dining credit for dinner, a room upgrade at check-in and late check out. Seems like a good deal and they got me a good rate as well.

BTW, does anyone know where the dining credit can be used?
