TIPS: Star Wars Weekends 2011

Actually CM are schedule to be there early. A CM coordinator for the FP distribution is schedule to be there at 2:30am and a CM that will work with the ceremony is schedule to be there at 5am. I've known them for 8 years now and they are saying that the park is schedule to open at 8am but they will let people start getting inside as early as 6am so that the lines outside the turnstiles don't get too crazy. As for ST I don't know, they already installed a canopy style roof over streets of america in anticipation of crowds.

Will they let guests through the turnstiles early, yes. Butthe attractions will not be opening at 6am. So therefore the park isn't open. They will rope all the way around the hat and then drop multiple ropes simultaneously at 8am. They did this at previous SWW.

oh brother - no SWW parade??? I have planned this Friday's trip for folks who really are expecting a parade. Its the only day they can go.

My name is going to be Mud

I'm in the same boat. We are doing a PM day at Hollywood Studios to catch the Hooplah, but we wont be there early enough for the parade. So we were counting on Friday for the parade. Alas.

I have a question about Friday's Webcast of the Star Tours Grand Opening Webcast:

It says on the parks blog that the event will be shown/held at 10 AM.
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...ening-webcast-from-disneys-hollywood-studios/
That's 10 AM EASTERN time, right? Because that would be awesome. We're on Mountain Time which means it'd be 8 AM here, and I can't think of a better way to kick off our day before work/school and the weekend than joining in the celebration all the way from Utah.

Good luck to everyone going this weekend! Have a great time!

I agree so theres no SW parade at all? No storm troppers march? I'm going to be upset as I'm taking the day off on Friday to go see this as we can't during the weekend and they're not going to do a parade?

Maybe there will still be something. You know just not the traditional motorcade. It's a big event I'm sure there will be troopers all over. I hope! We are pissed about the parade. But I am more angry that we didn't find out until today, and we STILL don't have a schedule for opening day!

I'm not sure if this has been asked but can someone give me the parade route for SWW? Is there a map I can look at somewhere? Thanks for the help.

I'm not happy about the parade  :headache: It's my favorite part of SWW. Maybe they're afraid George Lucas would get mobbed, not that I would have expected him to do the parade anyway, even if he is there.

Anyhow, I have a question about the capacity. Does anyone think it will get to a stage 4 closing? One member of our party is not a Star Wars fan and will only be joining us for lunch and I'm just a little bit worried about him not getting in. Our reservation is for 1:20, so I'm assuming that if that does happen, some people will have already left and he can get in. Thoughts?

The route for the parade has been from the entrance and ends at Star Tours, this year they are saying that the big meet of all characters and celebrities will happen at the Hat stage. SO this means that the parade will be shorter, as the celebs and characters will walk up to the stage. Now the 501st Legion (big number of stormtroopers) that have marched every year in the parade will most likely do the whole parade route (entrance to Star Tours) because they are not allowed to stay in the park with costumes on. They are asked to march in the parade, go backstage, change and then with their own tickets they can come inside. This means that to get a spot for the parade will be more difficult, since it's cutting the route in half.
Will it be crowded? Yes it will, will it reach capacity? I don't know.
Keep in mind that plenty of people will have been there for the midnight to 2am event and might leave after the opening ceremony, but no one knows for sure.
The big draw for Friday is the opening ceremony, if you have no desire to see this and you can come back another day you should. And that way you'll have a better SWW experience.
We have never had the schedule of events and all the times in advance, it has always come out the same week of the first weekend, so not having a schedule at this point is not unusual, I expect to have one by Thursday.
2 more days to go!! MTFBWY

OK - I just checked over on the 501st Vader Fist website.

For newbies this group marches in the DHS SW parade each year. Here is all it says:

"Star Tours and Star Wars Weekends returns May 20th.
by Dewka on Mon May 16, 2011 7:28 pm
Star Wars Weekends is just days away from its return to Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida , combining a double dose of Star Wars and Disney's magic with Star Tours -The Adventure Continues to thrill a new generation as fans from around the world . Parades, the Jedi Training Academy, special merchandise and limited-edition memorabilia will be available once again. No weekend experience would be complete without meeting the stars of the saga, with Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) returning. "

I highlite the word parades above hoping that the 501st will be marching this coming Friday.

I am going to the SWW on Friday, May 27. Based on last year I think the Fridays may be less crowded. A good bit of the crowd on weekends are locals. There is, of course, an exception for the first Friday, even more so this year. There is also the draw of a new ride, and the fact that all the celebrities for the second weekend last year were either behind the scenes technical guys or voice actors. This year we have Anthony Daniels and another guy who was in Episode III. Might draw more guests, but the locals will possibly still be at work.

With Monday being a holiday I'd do Friday that weekend before Sunday.

There are only 500 of us going to the late night event. So that's not much of a dent if the crowd reaches capacity. But we do plan to go nap and then go to a less crowded park for the evening. So there is something to that!

That late night thing better be worth it! Keeping me up till 2am the morning before opening!

Is the Behind the Forec the PARADE??????????:confused3

No, Behind the Force is the show about how they make the Clone Wars with voice-over.
I still don't have the time for the parade. There is no parade on Friday, bu as soon as I have the time for the parade I'll post it here.

how long is the hyperspace hoopla show?? we booked the fantasmic dinner package and will have to be at the theater by 8:15! if hyperspace hoopla doesn't start until 7:45, will we be able to make it to fantasmic???

Figures! If these times hold for the 4th weekend I'll have to change my 50s PT adr since it will conflict with hyperspace hoopla....
