Hi. we are stopping at the DLH for 3 nights & 4 days in March. just wondering where the best places are to eat ? with twins just under 4.
also is it worth paying for the disney birthday tea as we are taking my parents with us for my dad's 60th bday. Is it worth booking & if so do we book it now or when we get there?

thanks:banana: :cheer2: :grouphug:

hi-i would suggest for your kids age if they are ok with the characters then cafe mickey either character breakfast/dinner would be a great idea as they get to meet loads of characters without teh scrum,we took our kids there for a breakfast in march last year (littlest was just over 4)and they loved it,look on the dining tthreads for a review of it but we are off in march and are going there again for a evening meal!
oh and hi!you`ve come to the right place for info-these are a really friendly bunch who seem to be able to answer ANY question

Thanks lizbro. i had heard about mickey's cafey. would we need to book for the evening meal time?

now thats a question for one of the pros-i would say that it wouldn`t do any harm and someone nice and kind here will come along any minute with the details of how to book i`m sure as actually i should be doing the same as we will have 10 in total eating that night(meeting up with friends!)

You'll get a character breakfast every morning at the Disneyland Hotel so you'll be able to gauge your kids reaction to the characters from that. :goodvibes

The birthday tea at Plaza Gardens has been highly recommended or you could always order a birthday cake at Cafe Mickey. You shouldn't have any problems leaving booking your meal until you get there but if you want to do it in advance (I'm a compulsive planner so always prefer to do so!) you can phone on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50.
You can check out the menus on here as well as our Restaurant FAQ. :)

A tip for the DLH it is not the same as the other character breakfast for example at cafe mickey.
At the DLH breakfast the characters are actually out side the restaurant and they are not meant to go in and visit the tables however some do if it is quiet so it is best to go down to breakfast early to get more character action,(before 9am).
It can get quite busy outside the restaurant at about 9.30am and they will also be people not staying at the hotel coming in before they go into the park and they will be a line for the characters.

so it means plans for getting up early?!! we`re not good with that although the kids will no doubt be able to rouse us!
thxs liz

I would recommend the tea party at Plaza gardens as you do get good character interaction and it's full off the sweet thing little people(and Mummies;) ) love too !

I'm going to try Cafe Mickey on my next visit but I think we'll go for lunch as from reports its usually a bit quieter.

The Studios park is great for meeting characters as it's never as busy as the main park

I'd vote for the Birthday Party at Plaza Gardens.
I'm sure your twins will be thrilled to sing Happy Birthday to grandad along with the characters and help blow out his candles.:goodvibes

We went with an almost 3 year old and a just 4 year old so not quite twins.....

I HATE paying for large portions that I know they won't eat. So, what we did was ask if they could have 1 childs meal to share and they were all Ok about that. If it came with a sweet included or at cafe mickey a drink in a souvenier cup we paid extra for one more. Some places even let them have a sweet each and only paid for one.

Don't be afraid to say "they just don't eat much" beacuse you know whether they do. You're not trying to get something for nothing - you just don't want to pay for something that won't get eaten!

Did that make sense or have I just waffled?

One more thing.....

They had a good breakfast in the hotel and we took croissants and choc bread into the parks and they had these mid morning.

We then either had a lunch & snack tea or a snack lunch and a evening meal.

We found they were too "busy" to eat and the choc breads etc were really filling. At most counter places you could get a hot drink and a pastry/cookie for 3 euros so DH and I had the hot drink and they had the cakes and this was often lunch.

With 3 year olds I definitely advise little and often. Also if you stand waiting in place for the parades - a snack tea is just the thing to kill some time!

Have a fab time

Janet
