Tips on the room card?

I have read thread after thread and post after post and I cannot get a definitive answer on this!

We are a party of 3, so no 18% mandatory tip. Can we just add our tip to our room charges? The thing I like about the DDP is not carrying around CC or cash. Can this be done? If so, how does it work?

Yup - it's easy. It's what we did all trip. When you're done your meal your waitstaff will bring a bill outlining the charges and indicating a suggested tip of 18 or 20 %. You write on the bill how much you want to pay in tip and the waiter will return with another bill with that amount printed on it. You sign and you're good to go!

Does anyone know if you can use a credit card for the resort to hold and then pay with your debit card when you check out? How does that work when you check in? I hope that is not confusing...

When you check in you give them your credit card which they put on the adult room occupants room keys. You use your room key like a regular credit card. You only have to sign for purchases if you're purchase is over a certain amount (I'm guessing $50 because I was asked to sign very rarely). We were at a deluxe and our limit (the point at which our credit card was actually charged) was $1500. We didn't reach that. When the time came for check-out we received a list of our purchases under our door. Our card was charged at that time for the full amount of our purchases.
