So we will most likely book the 11 night Copenhagen northern Europe to Dover sailing in August. This is the first time we’re doing a sailing with five of us. My DH, DD, DS both teens and my mother.

We are looking of splitting up two OVs. Or doing one veranda and one inside and putting two in the veranda in three and the inside and the cost might be the same.

Are there any tips on how to split people up and what to keep in mind?

Is DCL smart where if only two people book the veranda and three Inside and one person goes over and sleeps in the veranda from the inside do they then charge you the difference anyways? I know there’s the issue of gratuities but I would pay both rooms steward the same anyways to be fair. There’s also the issue of muster too correct? Will they not allow this. I’m pretty sure people have been assigned a cabin but have slept elsewhere.

Thanks!

DCL doesn't care where you sleep. An adult on each reservation can stop by Guest Services to request an extra keycard to share. But all guests will need to report to the correct muster station based on how they are booked. If there is a difference in tips for room steward, you'll need to work that out.

We have a similar situation with a party of six -- Me, DH, 3 DDs and my mother. We've booked two people in each of three cabins, fully expecting that my DD who is booked with my mother will sleep in the cabin with her sisters, so that our actual sleeping configuration will be Cabin 1 - DH & I, Cabin 2 - my three DDs, Cabin 3 - my mom. All our cabins are in the same category so we plan to tip as they recommend plus extra because we'll be rearranging slightly. We will look to discuss this with our cabin steward the first day so that they are aware and hoping this all goes as planned. If there are any pitfalls to anticipate, please call them out for me!
